Scale I Build

  1. Picked up an opened AMT '62 Bel Air 409 off of evilbay it's missing both intake manifolds and nothing else. It came with photo etch wipers and full detail kit so the two intakes missing is a nuisance that I'll live with I guess. Question - who makes a resin intake manifold for the 409? Dual four barrels would be nice but, Webers would be so fine!
  2. Here is my last model, for the salvage and shop diorama I'm building. A '85 Chevy S10. Not a shiny gloss paint, but a paint of many years... Some details: I'll add some evolutions on the paint and details. What do you think about it ?
  3. I built this to replicate a car my dad used to own and gave it to him for his birthday, the tail lights didn't arrive in the mail so i had to make a last minute purchase and collect the Ed Roth Outlaw. In case anyone's wondering the thing on the areal is a fox tail (My dad had one on his 1:1) I will let the pics do the talking.... All comments welcome.
  4. This is my '58 Impala, mostly by AMT, with a few bits from the Revell kit because I thought they were more cleanly molded. The color is Testors 1 coat lacquer Mythical Maroon over Tamiya white spray primer, no clear coat. Photoetch set from Model Car Garage, pre-wired distributor from Preston's Car Parts. Not the best distributor I've seen, but this was the first engine I've wired (but yes, they are in the correct firing order!) If any of you have a favorite brand of scale distributors, let me know, so I can get one for my next build. I started this car at the beginning of September 2012 and finished it at the end of March. It took so long mostly because a college dorm room isn't exactly the best place for model building. Still, I was able to clean up almost all the pieces and get them ready for paint so I could do all the painting over Christmas break. The pieces I took from the Revell kit are as follows: headlight assemblies, fender spears, tail light bezels and lenses, metal exhaust tips, tires (mainly because of the convenience of the white wall inserts), door handles, driver's side mirror, steering wheel, rocker covers, generator, and fuel pump. The air cleaner is from a '66 Mustang GT350. I also added a dip stick and a couple other little bits of plumbing. The springs were replaced with real springs from a retractable pen. They aren't perfect, but I think they look a lot better than the molded atrocities it came with! I cut out the trunk, too, but I guess that doesn't really matter since I didn't end up putting anything in it. The dash board gauge decals are also from the Revell kit. (Interesting side note: the chrome 'Chevrolet' script on the display case base is from the dashboard of a 1949 or '50 Chevrolet Deluxe I found in the woods. The rest of the car was pretty much a big pile of rust, but that little piece of chrome was in almost perfect condition!) Overall, I think it came out really well. Tell me what you think and please share any tips or constructive criticism that I can draw upon for future builds!
  5. I started this a while ago and decided to post what I have got so far here. This is what I'm aiming for: here is where I'm at now: i have glued in the doors, removed all side trim, lengthened the roof and begun filling the door lines to make it a 4 door.
  6. Well, this is my first completed build for 2013. I took the AMT Kit 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept and turned it into a SEMA Show Car. I was originally going to build this car as a "What If" for when the 2010's came out, but I was a tad late in finishing it for that. So I turned directions. Engine is the kit stuff painted in 2011 GM Hugger Orange (fitting for the car) with nothing else done to it. The interior is done in red and white with the red inserts being MicroCloth Medical Tape colored Red. Carpeting is low pile dollhouse carpeting which I gotta find some more of. Exterior is DupliColor MetalSpeck Orange and Satin White over DupliColor MetalSpeck Silver Base over a Black Hot Rod Primer. Wheels are from Pegasus, called Hellas in 19" and 23". Enjoy and Thanx for following.
  7. Got this off ebay and will be making the best with what ive got.
  8. Giving this some fresh paint, the purple is pretty average and there were a few sink marks i didn't fix. So i will change colours and fix the imperfections in the body. while its in pieces i will show a pic of the interior, it has 67 impala seats because my 67 got the bench seats. basicly im just giving the body a respray so i wont be doing much to the chassis or interior.
  9. just a quick build of Dale Earnhardt's 1988 Goodwrench Chevy some parts were missing in the kit but it didnt turn out too bad!
  10. Here it is - my 1996 1994 ( ) Impala SS. I like this fullsize, always remember to copcars, when i see one. I built it stock and made only some wiring. I know, that the Chromtrim on the sidepanel is not chromed original. But, why dont show, what kind of engine is working under the hood? Enjoy:
  11. Hi everybody, a short new topic. Last year, my brother and i built on different places of germany (distance about 275 miles) the same model. Same color. How could this happend? I dont know...perhaps...we are twins and some days the same thoughts? On christmas, we had the chance, to take pictures of bouth. Many pictures following... Take a look - the darkblue is mine. Can you find the difference? ...
  12. Hi everybody, today i want to show you my 57 BelAir. On this kit i made some more technics to weather all parts of it. Like interieur, exterieur and Decals. I built it in June this year, based on the first issue of the Revellkit. The History of Belair: The Chevy has come on in years and has a wild youth behind. The current owner has taken care of him. He is currently at the stage when he left the front damage repaired with used parts front and rear wheel arch on the left has been de-rusted and primed. The trapper damage, the rust on the rear and right are still so when he bought it in pitiful condition - for which he cares little by little. Inside, he has had more luck. The inventory lists a broken window on the right, worn seat cover, headliner loose and dirty panels / rear seat, the rear parcel shelf has been cracked by the sun - everything is possible. Well, the side windows are renewed. The owner can not waive his or her means. So he must always carry out the work so that he comes to the job every day. What happens to the engine? Additionally, he is still at odds ... Therefore: "Rolling Restoration": And now? Photos (a little more than usual) around the outside at irregular times. Have fun;) ...
  13. Ho everybody, here i show you a fast build. Also this kit has a story: it was the first Kit, my brother build loooong time ago and i became one simular kit for less in june this year. Only the wheels where missing and i took wheels from a 66 Chevelle Station "California Wheels". To make it complete, i took some brakedisc from a Ford Focus for a real look Take a look. Interieur and engine is all stock. simple and nice look, i think. Thanks for your attention,
  14. Hallo everybody, today i want to show you a two-week-built from February this year. In times, when i built too much details, i need a simple kit to relax. Based on the amt kit (#6062) with the camper inside, i tested on this car, how to weather decals and to brush street dust on it. Take a look: ...
  15. Hallo together, today i want to show you a smooth built from a perfect fitting kit. (My opinion) It is the 1956 Chevy Del Ray from Revell. I had made no changes or detailwork, because my first paintjob (darkred body, silver top) was a fault and so sometimes i'm happy, if a mismatched builtup is ready. Only wiring the engine, thats it. Some Pics:
  16. Hallo everybody, today i want to show you my first custom-built. It is based on the first issue of the amt 58 Imala, that i have built "since i was a little child". It is too old, that i remember Now, that was the first "look": Nice, isn't it? I took it in May 2010 and gave him a totaly restauration and - sure - a complete new look. What changes have i done? - made it 2-Seated - extendet the trunk - also i extendet the intigrated frontbumber - mounted a continetal kit at the back from a 54 Victoria - channeled the backlights - removed all trim - new coat and interiorcolors - installed a Hemi - mounted Centerlines out of a "Heavy Cevelle"-Kit - made a small Display with gimmicks - for sure, i changed the roof and took one out of my partsbox A Picure from the work on the body: ...and from the scratchbuilt gimmicks And thats the result: ...tbc...
