Mattilacken Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) Another of my old WIP's that i have brought out from the storage. I am working with this one on the side of the Supra wide body. It's a Tamiya Porsche GT2 I started it back in 2008. Anyway, I had already cut the door out made the chassis, and painted most of the body and chassis and made some assembling. I took it up where I left and started detailing it, realized after a while that the paint is to bad to continue. Back then I did not have anywhere to spray during winter. So I was kind of lazy about it, probobly the reason i stoped building models as well. Right now i am finnishing of my paint both wich is gona be awesome with down draft front cover and built in lights and vent to the outside. I am going down in tire diameter or wheel size in the rear since they look to big. What i have to do now is to remove decals, mask and respray the boddy. There is to much collor differences between the door and the body, hard to see but you can se the dot also on the door. First session i started mocking and do some detailing. And Then i aded some glass and window trim. Will try to mask them off. Lights have been removed again so i can paint the inside. Any tip on good glue to glue windows and glass? I have been using normal wood glue from the hardware stoore but i am not satisfyed with the results. Last three pics are when i realized the paint aint no good.. saw this when i was ading the door. After some more work being done to it. Door test, collors are off.. Will do the respray these comming days. //Anton Edited January 16, 2020 by Mattilacken
Modlbldr Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 That is looking good. Nice to see you working on it again. For window and glass glue get some canopy glue from Amazon. It dries clear, holds extremely strong and doesn't fog. https://www.amazon.com/Pacer-Canopy-Glue-Flexible-2oz/dp/B0006O8EVM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=canopy+glue&qid=1579176396&sr=8-1 Later-
Mattilacken Posted January 16, 2020 Author Posted January 16, 2020 Thanks, feels nice to try to finnish it! And tackel the paint is gona be a ashivement for me. Great tip! Will get it from my "local", 250km away, hobby store on monday. Gona try it out when fabing the other small window.
1/24DragAndStreetCars Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Working on this same kit for the 2020 CBR Community Build! It's a decent kit. I bought a Resin engine with mine since I'm doing a few..."upgrades". Looking great so far! Keep up the good work!

Dann Tier Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 This is one of my favorite kits/cars.....its looking Fantastic!!!!
beeRS Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Nice work on opening the doors. The paint does not look too bad in the pictures.
Mattilacken Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 I hade been arguing with my self about this one and the paint for a while now. I decided to shoot it again a couple of years later, so yesterday I did a new wet coat of the Tamiya TS18 metallic red. On the body and parts, had an incident with the door so I will see if I sand it and re paint it or if I will live with my mistake. i will put on the emblems and paint the gaps and then shoot some clear for the very first time ever.. maybe I should try on some thing else than the body first... I have also put in the seats and the decals where a mess. I have not stored them well so they came in several pieces. i made some details to the wheels and made a “19 335 tire from the PB. there is also a key with tag in the center console. Will see if I put it on the dash instead.

Mattilacken Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) I have now done the respray as mentioned and did my first atempt with 2k clear. I have not practiced.. typical me so pressure was of and my ab does not adjust the air flow that well, cheap pice of machinery. So a good pass with micro mesh is needed. What pressure is good with Zero paints 2k clear? 30psi? Should i make the clear as wetcoats? I have finished the interior. That orange peel is hiddeus! Lets see if we get it of with micro mesh Edited May 6, 2020 by Mattilacken
Dann Tier Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 You can do it, Bud!!...it will be WELL worth it!!!....this Porsche is a BEAUTY!!!!
Funkychiken Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Looking amazing! I'm no expert, but 2k final coat should be a wet coat, and I I use the maximum my pump gives me, which is about 22psi
Mattilacken Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 Last update before it will end up in under glass! polished the body with good results except for a mishap but I won’t do much about it. put the windows back and put the taillights in. Also glued the hatch and wing! a lot of lessons learned on this one! Will post a link to under glass here when done!
