mrmike Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 This is my Land Rover Series III LWB paint with Model Master Acryl Pale Green with a Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black interior. Built box stock with a wired engine.
mrmike Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 Thank you Phil! If and when you do want to build one, take moment and decide which version you want to build. License plate, seats and such. So many options!
mrmike Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Well, I knew I had misplaced the fifth tire and I found it. Apprently, I put it away in one of my parts drawers. I added the extra wheel and glued them to the hood of my Land Rover Series III LWB. The hood is not made for this application, but the spare tire looks good up there just like the rest of the pictures I have seen. I added a piece of guitar wire for the antenna.
Zippi Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Good looking land rover Michael. That spare tire looks right at home on the hood. Great job.
mrmike Posted November 8, 2021 Author Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) Thanks Bob! I started thinking, did I accidentally throw the tire away? Did I accidentally put it into another model kit? Did I put it away by mistake? Well, I put it away in a parts drawer that I usually don't go into much and there it was! Such a sigh of relief! Edited November 9, 2021 by mrmike
happy grumpy Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 You did this kit justice . There is so many things you can do with this kit, but I like the classic, light green we are used to see. I build one as soon as It came out , one of the best kit Revell has ever done, the instructions alone are really impressive. Great to see this iconic vehicle in it's model form.
Dominik Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 well built - like it. Looks really good to me. The sparetire needs to be on the hood ?
Matt Bacon Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 That looks excellent -- very realistic finish and colour is spot on. Spare tyre on the bonnet is a lot better than on the roof! Oddly, that raised plate on the back door is also a mount for the spare wheel (check the spacing of the raised nubbins top centre and bottom corners vs 3 studs on the rim), but it's way too low. You could shave it off and mount the wheel near the top of the solid panel. There's no recess in the door for the wheel, unlike the bonnet which should be dished for the wheel to sit lower in... where's that aftermarket resin copy of the Esci bonnet when you need it? best, M.
mrmike Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Thank you Mario, Dominick and Matt! I am so happy that I found that fifth tire. I have nothing in my spares that comes even remotely close to this and I searched everywhere for it! For me, the spare tire for a Land Rover belongs on the hood and no where else. .
NOBLNG Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) That is a nice clean build! Glad you finally found the right spot for that tire…it looks good there.? Edited November 10, 2021 by NOBLNG
mrmike Posted November 10, 2021 Author Posted November 10, 2021 Thank you Greg! It wasn't the spot I was looking for, but the tire itself as I had misplaced it.
