Worlds most affordable superbird

Recommended Posts

I'm gonna throw the BS flag at the "scant $8,500 invested" line. Minus $1,600 for the nascar chassis, he built it for $6,900 which includes a clean LS engine, A/C all electronics, nascar parts, wheels, tires, etc. Yes, they scrounged a lot, but even the bird nose and fender vents won't be had for just beer and a handshake. More accurately might be other people invested the rest, just not their own wallet.

The nose and wing are fiberglass replicas from ebay.. I would bet that even with them doing the work themselves it cost more than $8500 to build.

I guess the LS is kind of like O- blood type…some folks would rather die though.😂

Lots of guys in my area have done the ls swap in just about everything from mopars, fords, Porsche, import cars and even a geo. Those engines run good for very little money that's the reason everyone uses them and they are plentiful. The ls and sbf are very similar in alot of ways.

I agree. I call BS on this one too.  Define “affordable” ? Certainly costing them more than a mere $8200 plus to build a replica Superbird. Body parts, LS engines (not cheap by all means), tranny, roll cage, interior components, etc....  The list goes on and on.

Don't get me wrong, it is a cool project and all but I’m surprised a reputable auto magazine would actually believe building such a iconic automobile as “affordable”. 🙄
