Horrorshow Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 My wife and I were on a two year motor home trip and she suggested I get a hobby. I jokingly told her I used to build car models when I was a kid. She thought it was a good idea, I didn’t, paint, glue, smell, mess ect. She insisted it would be okay so I purchased a ‘68 Dart from the local Hobby Lobby along with some paint and glue. Everything was brush painted. Decals were a bit stressful and I had some fit issues, just like when I was a kid. Unfortunately, the car went through the crusher, also known as slide outs, along with a Christine I had just finished. I managed to save the wheels and tires which I later used on an Edsel. After returning home I discovered the world of aftermarket decals and websites like this one and have become totally hooked again. My eyes aren’t like they used to be and my fingers don’t always co-operate so I don’t do any fine detailing, but I’m sure having fun again. 4
Zippi Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Well Dave...I'd say the 45 years away from the hobby did you no harm. Great looking models.
Vic Florie Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Not quite sure what you mean by slide outs.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Very good looking machines. Way to go.

PappyD340 Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Welcome back to the hobby David those are some great looking models!
Slotto Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 They look great! Might I suggest you get a lighted magnifying glass? This will change your life. It's really helped my 53 year old eyes
oldscool Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Nice models and too bad they got crushed. Very respectable brush painting.
carrucha Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Welcome back to the hobby. The builds look nice.
sflam123 Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 For being away for 45 years, you haven't lost anything! Great work on these models. Well done!!
XYHARRY Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 (edited) Like bbowser said, it's all about the fun. Edited September 26, 2022 by XYHARRY Spell check
thatz4u Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 David, nice work on the Mopars, & I already knew about slide outs...they can be a pain...?
ewetwo Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 All really nice. Better than what I can build.
Olskoolrodder Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 What a way to get back in it, awesome builds, my friend!
John B. Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Very nice - the main thing, like you say, is that you are having fun!
HSCHMIDT Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Welcome back to the hobby , good looking builds , like the look of the Dart
ea0863 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Great job Dave! I'm like you - - - years away from the hobby, eyes and fingers don't work like they used to, but the fun is still the same! BTW; get a set of cheap jeweller's magnifiers, and the fun gets magnified 3x 1
bisc63 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Not bad at all, especially coming from such a long pause. Quite good, really. The Edsel is very handsome in those colors, and the Cragar wheels look perfectly at home on it. Well done!

I re-started in the hobby a few years ago when I was 70 years old. Looking at the Dart, one would not think it was brush painted. Nice work on all of them.
