Playing around this with this truck tonight. Just a mock up, not sure I like it. Wheels are Caddy Sabre with bullet centers from Model Haus…opinions???

It looks nice. A slight chop would be really cool….but certainly not easy re-fitting that windshield.?

I’d love to chop it but I fear that would result in a ruined cab lol.

When I built this kit as a paint practice I considered chopping it. The windshield looked workable but I had no clue how to deal with the misalignment that would result on that louvered trim behind the side windows so dropped the idea.

I was rather surprised at how painting the upper cab lighter actually gave the optical impression that it was lower.

Nice build, I’m planning a 2 tone as well.

Must be the kit of the year on here since yours will be #8 since Christmas. It is fun though as no two have even been close. Looking forward to your take on it!

Two tone always looks great! I don't think I'd lower the roof as you may have an issue with the windshield.

As far as the whitewall tires, they look good. The wheels would need to be black between the spokes just my opinion.

I like the tire and wheel combo..

I have this kit staring at me from the stash, I was thinking something like this...Root Beer roof and Ivory lower body

Oh either of those would work!

I'm liking those rims/wheel covers. Since you asked for opinions: ditch the wide white. I'll be honest here and state that I'm not a fan of wide whites on any vehicle past 1957, 1958, and especially pickups (any year) and any 1961 & newer vehicle.

Pinstripe white walls would -- again, IMO -- look 1,000 times better with those rims/wheel covers.

Looking forward to watching your progress.

So…some progress….I definitely committed to custom here. I wanted to do something kinda different on both ends and started with the rear end. I was struggling with what to with the plain Jane tailgate and tail lights and tried this. Bear with me lots still to do . I cute the top of the bed off and will graft 1 hood on the back to use the front parking light bezels as tail lights. I will graft  another hood onto it to complete the top of the bed and possibly hung the top. I hope i described it correctly.

Maybe some small fins on the bed? 63 Fairlane style?

I kinda like that idea!

I like the idea of using another hood for the rear, but needs more planning, could use those vertical, one on each side for tail lights, maybe, or as you show, but better integrated into the tail gate?

Got some work done, grafted the 2 hoods to the bed and started on the fins. Lots of blending and sanding left. I’m liking it so far.

It looks pretty good even in this rough state. It should look fantastic once you get every thing blended in and smoothed.?
