  1. I really wish Greg would see fit to start publishing the slot car magazine again, really enjoyed it. Until then go to; http://slotblog.net/ to see more of Jairus's masterpieces plus lots of other cool slot car related stuff.
  2. Cool video, thanks for posting! I still have my View Master and most of my discs. Fun stuff that even my grandsons find fun to play with. Always interesting to see what they gravitate to when the visit. I have collections of old toys as well as my basement full of models.
  3. I know I'm a little late to this party but in case anyone is interested, the track was built buy a company called Slot Mods. slotmods.com Check out the portfolio page, they've built some amazing tracks over the years. Gives me inspiration to get going on my large scale and H.O. layouts.
  4. Very nice! The few GTP Mustangs I've seen built over the years have been the Motorcraft versions, nice to the 7-11 one. I think Monogram's IMSA and GTP Mustangs and Revell's GTO Mustangs are highly underrated kits.
  5. Nice to see you back here! All beautiful builds! Thanks for posting these.
  6. The only thing Okey could bring to the table is the Johan name. Any model manufacturer has free reign to produce any car regardless if it was done by Johan or any other company. The only licencing that counts comes from the manufacturers of the particular car or truck, not who originally may have made a kit 60 years ago. The mold issue as well as the fate of the company has been brought up here and on other forums over the years. There was almost nothing left when Johan folded due to a number of reasons. The molds that did survive needed a specific type of injection machine that probably doesn't exist anymore and the cost to make them work on current machines outweighed the possible profit. Almost all the manufacturers at some point looked at the remains before Oakley got whatever he has and walked away, that says plenty.
  7. I don't recall seeing a shell like that in the wild but that was included in the kit and I'm totally good with that. My late father built his using it and I actually like the design, real or not. It also doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to modify should one go for more of a traditional topper. For what it's worth my vote is to go with it. WIth the shell from the Gear Hustler El Camino or the high top shell from previous (and upcoming) versions there are choices even if it means a little modifying here and there.
  8. I know it's more cost effective to reissue the Poison Pinto in it's current state but if Atlantis modified it back to it's original form (wheels, full length side pipes, hood scoop, etc...) I'd be all in for a few.
  9. Me too, I've been in FB jail, repeat offender and had my Twitter account suspended... My work there is done. Seriously though, my father built models and passed the addiction to me but I'm good with that. I've been selling off my ridiculous stash over the last few years but somehow every now and then something seems to follow me how after a show or club meeting. My most excellent wife has no issues with my various hobbies and at times is shockingly supportive. Because of that I do have a number of plans depending on who's left amongst my friends when I eventually go room temperature. I've always been honest about what my stuff is worth and anything I've bought has been with money made within my hobbies so I'm not taking food off the table to support this incurable addiction.
  10. Unless you buy a collection that fills your car up to the point you can't see out save for the windshield ?
  11. You're welcome, wish I could post more at this time. There were as usual many excellent builds. It's too bad lots of builders displaying there don't participate on forums or FB groups. We certainly would have lots of cool stuff to enjoy here.
  12. Here's a few photos, my computer is down so these are phone photos until I can download from my camera.
  13. Maybe R2 could cook this one up for us. They have all the tooling. The last issue of the Galaxie provided me with the tow car plus I scored a set of reproduction decals. Still would be nice to have another chance to have the team set.
  14. That's a nice layout, the banked curve seems to be one of the harder to find Strombecker pieces. If you're interested I might have a working 2 lane LeMans start from my pile of vintage track stash. Hoping to get my vintage Revell track set up in the near future. We downsized to a condo so basement space is much smaller. I'm designing a track table so an H.O. layout can be folded down over the large scale layout.
  15. That's good and interesting news. Years ago I was able to get a few of my older amps working properly again including a couple of Ampeg flip top amps with Russian tubes widely available in the late 90's/early 2000's.
  16. After Gary Schmidt passed away the remaining inventory (trailers and Chevy kits) were sold to a few distributors. Galaxie LTD is no longer in business however the tooling was sold but until something is announced we'll have to wait to see what happens.
  17. Beautiful build! Love those Monogram (and Johan) classic cars, always great to see one built.
  18. ??? Awesome build! Too bad the reissued kit had incorrectly colored pink glass instead of clear so the bubble could be colored correctly and headlights would be correct as well. Really nice! One of my favorite Roth kits.
  19. Very nice build! Nice work on the hinged top as well, looks great. I wish Revell would have incorporated that feature into the kit. Haven't seen one of those built in quite a long time. BTW, what did you paint did you use? The finish looks excellent! Interesting and cool you did the introduction copy, I did the box art build as well as several for display at RCHTA trade show they held in Chicago at the time. Revell had the car on display and was able to have lunch with Ed Roth on the set up day as well as getting a couple of boxes autographed. I also have test shots in unusual colors with clear glass as well as some from the Road Agent since that mold was restored around the same time, did the box art build for that as well.
  20. Although not directly model related, Hobby Lobby has also dropped most of the high quality art supplies in favor of their house brand labels. Needless to say most of it is garbage and gives me even less reason to shop there. That was the opposite situation years ago when they were the only chain that had better quality products vs Michaels, etc... but then they had a great selection of model kits as well. My LHS stocks most of the model supplies such as Tamiya tape, paints and other items so that's never been an issue but for those who only have HL at their disposal it's not a good situation. I prefer not to buy art supplies online but slowly I'm being forced that direction. I have over time emailed HL expressing my displeasure with the quality of the products but probably makes zero difference since professional artist supplies don't really fit their target audience anyway. Just a convenience issue for me.
  21. Nice find! There's a group on Facebook called Scale Survivors. It's run by Dave Darby, who is a member here. It's an excellent group and I'm sure they would appreciate photos of much of what you posted. Looks like lots of really cool stuff there.
  22. Very cool! As stated in previous comments, your added details really add to the already excellent builds. I've found the Weirdo's series to be fun slump busters but require a bit extra to really make them look good compared to the Revell Roth monsters. For those interested, this book is a very enjoyable look into the art and creation of the Hawk kits. I don't remember what I paid through Amazon but it wasn't too bad, worth the money if you like these kits.
  23. Awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
  24. Where did you order those from? They look really good.
