  1. Oh yes there is, smarty-pants! You can climb in through the hatch or you can leave the moon roof open ?. So there! Or just use the remote ?
  2. Agreed! What you have done with the lights is reeeeeeealy good, Greg. That one thing makes all the difference on this sloppily designed kit. And the .020 seems to be the way with the welt. I don't know if the sproo-goo is a good idea since it caused some trouble but it was a small price to pay. My first choice was bondo but I thought it might get knocked loose with all the shaping activity. I figured sproo-goo would have a stronger bond. I never thought it would do what it did to your fenders ?. But....all's well that ends well. What color did you decide on? ?
  3. I can hear Deep Purple playing "Highway Star" on that 8-track. Well....that bootleg 8-track ?
  4. David, I see you have masked out the trim. What's your strategy for this? I've only done a few two-tone jobs and the trim got painted in one color or the other. I found the danger is leaving a rough line where the tape was and its difficult to smooth it out before foil applications. My strategy now is to put the tape line on the trim at TDC to allow it to be smoothed during the wet sand/polish operation. This would provide a smooth foil result. But it's just a theory for me at this point. I just wonder how other builders do this (before I screw up a nice two tone job ?)
  5. Yes they do but we fight for the sport of it ?
  6. David, I was thinking about the Custom 300 trim, your build is Fairlane trim. My bad ?
  7. What they all said and then some.....it is a JEWEL! ?
  8. Very cool, Jeff. You have created a "phantom" in the 1:24 universe. You might try the hood ornament from the '51 kit.
  9. 'Ol Miss Vicky looks terrific! Nice upholstery! And I agree it's a very good kit. ?
  10. Yes sir! Now you got it, Greg. Great fun, huh? What kind of primer is that? It's the color of "silly putty". ?
  11. No interior yet, folks, but the exterior is mostly done now. I just need to clean up some minor details like the rear wiper and such. Thanks for stopping by. ?
  12. YES INDEED! Your interior is awesome. Details well beyond the typical. Well done, old man!
  13. I'm headed for a tea party right now with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Alice should be along shortly. You're doing great, Len!
  14. I think it's a bit odd the way the factory painted the two-tones at the tail light area. Maybe it had to do with the assembly sequence ?....yeah, that makes sense....I think.

    RUST.

My work in this thread is sophomoric compared to the others here so you must have mistaken theirs for mine. ? And yeah, I don't miss it either but it's a fact of life and it's hard to ignore it. So we embrace it! ?. I dragged this back up because one of us is working on his first weathered project. I thought it may help him with some ideas.
  16. This car has very prominent trim and you have got to figure out how to deal with it. If it was a 1:1, you could leave it alone, remove it, or paint over it. In the case of a roach like the one pictured above(the Road Kill Chevy), each panel tells a different story. I like the way that looks because I've seen a lot of cars like that. They will have, say, a door off a junker and a different color hood, missing trim, cracked quarter glass, etc. If you're going to do this, maybe look at the "RUST" thread. Know what? I'll drag it out. Look for it in "cars" in "under glass"

    RUST.

I'm dragging this thread out for a member to study. And anyone who may be interested ?
  18. James, a good way to get started might be to remove one or two trim pieces and drill the holes. It's simple and it says a lot. A single edge razor blade or a 1/2" chisel-point xacto blade will do the trick. Band-aids optional.
  19. All's well that ends well! ? it looks fabulous, John. Super nice foiling!
  20. Oh yeah ?....solder..flux core solder? The dimple was there waiting for you to make a dimmer switch, Steve! (I gotta remember that ?)
  21. Yeah, I just looked at some '68s. I remember ours, a 2 door, white/ black vinyl top, red vinyl inside. 302/auto (and no a/c).
  22. Oh...my nose is a horror ?. I just opened up the bottom of the car nose a little for a little different look. I think the grille came from the Revell custom '48. Good luck on your Maggie quest. You may need to travel to find a good one but that could be fun. Go down 66 ?
  23. Yeah....bummer. I won't bore you with the details. Isn't the car in the box art an LTD? Hidden headlights?
  24. Seriously? It's probably the fast-back roof, right?
