Your "...prettier younger sister." line cracked me up! Considering how you got there, I'd say the end result is outstanding! Really like the paint color and the build just has a good "look and feel" to it, even if it isn't quite as "fresh" as its younger sister!

Dave, Thanks for the reply information/pictures and especially for your "glimpse" for us builders into what research-work goes-on from our model kit manufacturers to provide us with kit's that are well-produced and accurate to the 1:1 world! -
I really like this custom. Your paint scheme is excellent, and the body work and mods you did are outstanding!

Really great-looking build of this vintage kit! Your paint and foil-work is outstanding! Just a minor suggestion; add a dot of Silver paint to that trunk-key-hole and then it'll be complete! -
Excellent looking build! I sure would like to see some more pics of it!

What kit had these 1/25 wheels?
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, thanks to your posts above as they all helped me refine my search for the 1/25 kit that had these deep-dished wheels in it. My search had me going thru several of my older AMT kits, and I found a match for these deep-dish wheels inside the AMT/Ertl 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria kit; these are a match to the rear drag wheels from that kit. I don't know if this particular pair molded in this Turquoise styrene came from a '56 Ford Fairlane Victoria that was molded in that color or not, but style-wise and tooling-wise, they are a match. Thanks for all of your input! -
What kit had these 1/25 wheels?
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The wheels are definitely not painted and never have been, they're still in their original Blue/Green molded styrene color. That's one thing that struck me as so unusual about these wheels; that color of styrene is one that I've never seen a kit molded in and I've been building kits since the late-1960's! I don't remember a deep-dish wheel style being inside the AMT '58 Impala kit, so I don't think they came from a version of that kit. The deep-dish wheel style is very similar to the AMT '49 Ford kit's deep-dish wheels, but I don't remember any '49 Ford's being done in that color either. I was wondering if they might have come from a kit along the lines of a custom, Tom Daniel design or possibly one of those "South-of-the-Border" AMT kits from the late-1960's-early-1970's. And wasn't there a mid-1960's Ford Galaxie released once by AMT that was molded in a Dark Green styrene color that might have been similar to this Blue/Green color and it could be decaled as the "Big Green Machine" drag car, or something like that? -
Can anyone inform me what 1/25 kit these deep-dish, steel wheels were found in? They are molded in the most unusual Turquoise, (Blue/Green), styrene color. Thanks!

Does anyone have any idea what 1/25 kit the wheels shown in my photo below were found in? I have a partial Chrome tree with some of these same wheels attached and that Chrome tree portion has the following numbers on it: 029-4012. The front wheels are identified as part #343 and the rears are part #344. Anybody know what 1/25 kit these wheels came from?

I'm probably going to build my Comet Cyclone using the mag wheels but I'd like to transform the kit's tires into Black-walls on both sides. Is there an easy way to remove the White sidewalls printed onto these tires without doing damage to the tires? -

Mine landed on my doorstep today and I've spent quite a bit of time this evening going through the kit now that I have my hands on one. One thing that really stood-out to me was the amount of blank-spaces on the various parts trees that are showing part numbers by those blank spaces. My guess is that the upcoming 427-powered, drag version of this kit is going to have alot of additional parts inside it besides just the 427 engine and adjusted suspension pieces for the drag car. -

Does it look like I've got most all of the pieces to build this AMT Ford Mustang Cobra V-8? Anybody have a scan of its instruction sheet that they could post or PM me? -
1/25 Vintage engine parts question
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
All, Thanks; I certainly appreciate the wealth of vintage kit knowledge found on this forum! These parts represent a supercharger arrangement like none I've ever seen before. The info provided on the 1:1 is extremely helpful to me as well. Now, just to find a project that would inspire me to clean-up and restore these supercharger parts and find an engine worthy of putting them on! Any suggestions out there? -
Another 1/25 Engine Parts Question
'70 Grande posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I received these groups of 1/25 Engine Parts trees, and was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me what I've got here. The bags these trees were in was labelled "1990's Chevy V-8", but I can see a Ford Cobra logo molded into the top of one of the intake pieces. I think I've got incomplete parts trees for two different engines. Anybody have an idea which engines and/or kits these might have come from? Thanks! -

1/25 Vintage engine parts question

So I recently received in a trade, the 1/25 Engine parts shown in the following 2 photos, and I was hoping someone from this forum might be able to educate me as to what type of blower/intake setup this is and if it actually represents a 1:1 setup. Also, does anybody have any idea what kit these engine pieces might have come from? Thanks! -
Your hard work really paid off! This is the most outstanding build of this vintage kit that I have ever seen! Very impressive!

Dang-it Bill, now I gotta go and buy another one of these Mercury kits when that drag-version comes out! Will the wheelbase on this Mercury chassis be a pretty much straight fit under a 1/25 mid-1960's Mustang body? -
You nailed it! Great work!

Really like this build! Paintwork and color scheme are perfect! And it'll be hard for the local police to radio-in who's car it is when they're speeding around town in it, too!

Simply stunning build... stunning!

Beautiful build! Your paint and detail work is outstanding! Man, this "car" looks more like a spaceship to me! It isn't hard to see the future of automobiles when looking at one of these Lambos!

Gerry, Thanks for posting these pics and providing the info! Both of these kits were on my "let's wait and see..." list, but your pics have probably moved both onto the "gotta get 'em!" list.
