  1. So, I have a question for the model kit historians out there; does anybody know if this kit was derived/created by AMT by them taking their factory-stock, 1966 Ford Mustang kit and putting the drag racing chassis and engine underneath it, and then altering the body to make it an altered-wheelbase body with those enlarged rear wheel wells? Oh yeah, definitely a cool old build of yours, Roadrunner! I, too, built this kit back-in-the-day, and was really proud of the Purple metal-flake paint job that I did on it back then. Sure wish I had more than just my memories of it!
  2. I'll be watching this build along with many other forum members; your work so far is excellent and your choice of final paint style should make this project go thru the roof of "coolness"!
  3. Casey, So, are those separate, chrome window trim pieces hard to install and do they look okay once in-place?
  4. Ron, where'd you get those dog-dish hubcaps on your great-looking build?
  5. I'm looking forward to the reissue of this Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit. Am I correct in understanding that the chrome window trim is done as separate pieces that'll need to be glued into place? If so, can anyone provide some builder's insight here; are those chrome pieces tough to work with/make look good? I never really cared for the 1:1 large, optional bumper guards that are molded into this kit's front and rear bumpers. Anybody know if the bumpers from a Revell '66 Chevelle Station Wagon kit would drop-into-place on this Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit? Or what a good source for straight/bumper-guard-less bumpers might be?
  6. Your build looks great... Miss Alabama looks... hmmm... great, too!
  7. If this reissue has the Boss-302 engine inside it, I think it's the best rendition in styrene of that fabulous Ford engine ever done!
  8. Ray, Good looking build of this vintage kit! Did you modify the kit's main chassis piece to eliminate its molded-in front and rear suspensions to add the raised-springs and front & rear axle parts? Sure would like to see a pic of its underside! Nice build!
  9. "...gonna love her in my Chevy van and that's alright with me." Oh yeah; what a time!
  10. Beautiful build! I'd bet this would really fly in the 1:1 world! Just curious; is the corner of the trunk lid where the gas fill is located on these cars?
  11. Excellent build of a classic! Sure would like to see some forum posts, (with lots of pics), about those other 2 Mopar "fin-bearers" in your group shot!
  12. I wonder if the subject matter would still be based on the mid-1960's-thru-1970's era, or would the subject matter be "current". Just trying to imagine a cartoon illustration of a present-day Lexus or any SUV... although the current Nissan Juke already has a cartoon-face!
  13. I believe other builders have swapped-in the much-more detailed chassis and suspension pieces from the 1/25 Revell 1966 Pontiac GTO kit with good results. I don't know if you'd still run into header-fit issues if you did swap-in the Revell chassis or not. I do know that this MPC kit was molded from the earlier-released MPC 1966 GTO kit, and when the mold-altering into a 1967 was done, some aspects got overlooked. One, for example, is the there is PONTIAC lettering between the taillights on the rear panel, but that lettering is only correct for a 1:1, 1966 GTO; the lettering was removed from the 1:1's in 1967. Might suggest trying a search for MPC 1967 GTO models, and you might come across some other forum posts that shed some light on building this vintage kit... I know there has been some forum-talk about this one in the past.
  14. Any idea what this resin body and its parts will cost?
  15. Is that Porsche kit really in 1/25 scale, (not 1/24th)? I wonder if the road-race version's parts will include fender flares, Minilite racing wheels and that Richie Ginther cut-down windshield; any idea, anyone?
  16. So, back to my original question in this post; are these Firestone tires inside this kit brand-new, or are they the same tires that have been found inside some of the recently-available tire multi-packs? (The tires look to me like pretty-wide street tires, but they're not nearly wide enough for a Trans-Am race car of this era). Thoughts... anyone?
  17. First off, welcome to the forum! I've got this same kit in my stash, yet to be built! Your build is one of the best that I have seen of this vintage kit! Extremely clean with excellent paintwork and detailing! The decals really set it off, too! Makes me want to get mine started! Nice work!
  18. Thanks for the input and excellent explanations, Mike and Ace!
  19. By "Pure, denatured", do you mean the kind of alcohol that is 80%+ alcohol? (I think many rubbing alcohols are closer to 70% alcohol).
  20. Today I received a built-up Mustang kit that I won on an auction site, and was thinking that the model's body had been painted in Flat Black spray paint. Once the built-up reached my mailbox, I discovered that it was not painted with paint, but the body had been "painted" with a Black, Sharpie Permanent marker, (the thick, greasy, permanent Black ink that goes on in streaks). Has anyone ever encountered this situation before? If so, were you able to remove the Sharpie "marker-paint" job? I'm looking for any suggestions for removing this Sharpie marker from the kit's body; different solutions to soak it in, etc. Thanks.
  21. Different for certain... I'm disappointed that the galloping horse emblem in the center of that grill opening looks incredibly crooked to my eye; on a custom-build like this one, you'd think they pay attention to the placement of the iconic logo!
  22. Wow, that paint work looks fantastic! I'll be watching this build as it progresses!
  23. Really, really creative! Exceptional work!
  24. I've been recently intrigued by late-1960's sports car racers, and am wondering if any kit manufacturers have ever made a 1/25 scale, late-1960's, (1967-69, specifically), MGB sports car in either factory-stock or race car form? I believe there might have been one in 1/24 scale from Gunze Sanyo or another foreign kit manufacturer, but any from an American kit manufacturer? And if so, if the kit had decent detail and build-ability. I'd appreciate any input from the kit historians out there.
