  1. An awesome build! I really like the "crud-buildup" on the gas tank; how'd you do that?
  2. I understand that these Scirocco's were front-wheel-drive and all, but is there absolutely no rear suspension detail or pieces inside this kit? (It looks to me like the rear suspension is just a plastic tube that goes thru a couple of holes in the main chassis piece for the rear tires/wheels to mount onto, and nothing else).
  3. I hope this reissue comes with those huge fender flares, roll cage and wire wheels... I wanna build one as a racer!
  4. BTD, A great looking build! Did you use the "molded-in-suspension" chassis from the kit and carefully detail paint it, or does this build have a chassis-swap, (and if so, what chassis did you use)?
  5. BTD, I'd like some info on how you got that thread, fender welting to look so good. Is it held-down using super-glue or some other adhesive? By the way; an excellent build; looking forward to your future-postings here... welcome!
  6. I think it's kinda funny that the bare chassis already has State of California license plates on it!
  7. Wow! This build is fantastic! Love the scratchbuilding, paint and weathering effects! Sure would like to hear more details about this build! How did you create that X-pattern in the end of your Bic lighter gas tank? Where did you source the engine? How did you weather those headers? Can we see some pics of the interior and that scratchbuilt frame of yours?
  8. I'm pretty certain that this kit is now available to purchase. I'd like to know if anyone has purchased it yet, and if so, how does it look? Does it have much flash? Decent chrome-plating? Anything new inside the box? etc.
  9. Cool idea and an excellent build! Now I wanna see you build one of those 427-powered Econoline support vehicles!
  10. Incredible paintwork; great build! I had no issues building my Manx either; guess I shoulda posted some pics of it!
  11. Everybody loves those flames, (...actually, I do, too), but I think those tailights are really terrific! Beautiful build!
  12. So, I have a question for the model kit historians out there; does anybody know if this kit was derived/created by AMT by them taking their 1/25 factory-stock, 1966 Ford Mustang kit and putting the drag racing chassis, wheels and engine underneath it, and then altering the interior and body to make it an altered-wheelbase body with those enlarged rear wheel wells? It seems to me like that is pretty-likely how this kit was created, but I am curious.
  13. So, I have a question for the model kit historians out there; does anybody know if this kit was derived/created by AMT by them taking their factory-stock, 1966 Ford Mustang kit and putting the drag racing chassis and engine underneath it, and then altering the body to make it an altered-wheelbase body with those enlarged rear wheel wells? Oh yeah, definitely a cool old build of yours, Roadrunner! I, too, built this kit back-in-the-day, and was really proud of the Purple metal-flake paint job that I did on it back then. Sure wish I had more than just my memories of it!
  14. I'll be watching this build along with many other forum members; your work so far is excellent and your choice of final paint style should make this project go thru the roof of "coolness"!
  15. Casey, So, are those separate, chrome window trim pieces hard to install and do they look okay once in-place?
  16. Ron, where'd you get those dog-dish hubcaps on your great-looking build?
  17. I'm looking forward to the reissue of this Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit. Am I correct in understanding that the chrome window trim is done as separate pieces that'll need to be glued into place? If so, can anyone provide some builder's insight here; are those chrome pieces tough to work with/make look good? I never really cared for the 1:1 large, optional bumper guards that are molded into this kit's front and rear bumpers. Anybody know if the bumpers from a Revell '66 Chevelle Station Wagon kit would drop-into-place on this Lindberg '66 Chevelle kit? Or what a good source for straight/bumper-guard-less bumpers might be?
  18. Your build looks great... Miss Alabama looks... hmmm... great, too!
  19. If this reissue has the Boss-302 engine inside it, I think it's the best rendition in styrene of that fabulous Ford engine ever done!
  20. Ray, Good looking build of this vintage kit! Did you modify the kit's main chassis piece to eliminate its molded-in front and rear suspensions to add the raised-springs and front & rear axle parts? Sure would like to see a pic of its underside! Nice build!
  21. "...gonna love her in my Chevy van and that's alright with me." Oh yeah; what a time!
  22. Beautiful build! I'd bet this would really fly in the 1:1 world! Just curious; is the corner of the trunk lid where the gas fill is located on these cars?
  23. Excellent build of a classic! Sure would like to see some forum posts, (with lots of pics), about those other 2 Mopar "fin-bearers" in your group shot!
  24. I wonder if the subject matter would still be based on the mid-1960's-thru-1970's era, or would the subject matter be "current". Just trying to imagine a cartoon illustration of a present-day Lexus or any SUV... although the current Nissan Juke already has a cartoon-face!
  25. I believe other builders have swapped-in the much-more detailed chassis and suspension pieces from the 1/25 Revell 1966 Pontiac GTO kit with good results. I don't know if you'd still run into header-fit issues if you did swap-in the Revell chassis or not. I do know that this MPC kit was molded from the earlier-released MPC 1966 GTO kit, and when the mold-altering into a 1967 was done, some aspects got overlooked. One, for example, is the there is PONTIAC lettering between the taillights on the rear panel, but that lettering is only correct for a 1:1, 1966 GTO; the lettering was removed from the 1:1's in 1967. Might suggest trying a search for MPC 1967 GTO models, and you might come across some other forum posts that shed some light on building this vintage kit... I know there has been some forum-talk about this one in the past.
