  1. Your 68 is looking very nice, Greg! I built this one a few years ago without any corrections just out of the box with some plug wires and heater hoses and it turned out well. I've got a second one in the closet so I may try it again with your corrections and a vinyl top. Nice work - very inspirational! ??
  2. This is a bagged kit that I bought for next to nothing. Part of a larger purchase of kits that was thrown into the deal. I think I have all the parts, except for the printed Goodyear tires. But I can find tires for it. Not only was the kit bagged but each of the pieces were taken off the parts trees, some only partially, meaning a part of the sprue is still attached. Each part was bagged separately and labelled. Not sure why that was done but I still have to examine and remove the parts sprue and/or sand off the part sprue attachment point. Of course, it is molded in beautiful red plastic which will be a joy to paint over. A little bit cold today, I may get some primer on it but have to wait for better weather for the color. I'm thinking about light blue metallic, as it looks like one of the four colors available according to the instructions and some photos I saw. Thanks for looking!
  3. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! ?
  4. Thanks, David, Tony and Joe! I appreciate your comments! ?
  5. Looking good, Joe! I have this kit and looked at it but it looked very challenging in black plastic. Maybe I'll try it sooner or later but it won't be as nice as yours! I am sorry for your loss.
  6. Looks great, Bill! Looks almost like my 1:1 but I have a white top, a silver dash (my choice, not stock) and chrome rockers. I have build every iteration of the 57 Chevy, except the Snap-tite. I guess I'll have to build it soon! Yours looks great! ??
  7. This Lindberg kit is done. Paint is Tamiya Italian Red on the exterior and Revving Red in the interior (with some dullcote to mask the metallic). The front bumper/grill doesn't fit well and there is also a gap on the rear bumper and body. The kit wheels and tires were too small (out of scale) so I had to resort to the parts box for wheel backs, Goodyear tires and Keystone wheels. Other than those shortcomings the rest went together very well. I almost forgot to add a mirror so its only in the first photo. Thanks for looking! ?
  8. Thanks, Joe and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Joe, I just took some Elmers Glue and thinned it with Acrylic thinner and then apply it to the trim surface that I am foiling. I try not to get too much on but enough that the foil will stick without lumping up. I use acrylic thinner because it evaporates slower than water which evaporates very quickly even if capped. I also let it set up for a minute or two so that it is not runny or too dry so it doesn't lump. As I cut strips of foil, once I got a few strips into the new sheet, some of the foil has enough glue that I didn't need to use the glue, for instance, in the interior. But I used the glue on the external foil around the greenhouse. The rear window and the side trim in the pictures below are chrome pieces from the kit. This one is done! The front bumper/grill fit very poorly and took a lot of cutting, scraping, thinning and it still left a bit of a gap between the body and the bumper. The rear bumper also has a bit of a gap. So the bumpers, wheels and tires were the weak spots of this kit but everything else fit very well! Thanks for looking! Oh, and I did add an outside mirror. I had to get one from the parts box as I mistook the one in the kit for a fuel pump early in the build and de-chromed it. When I was detaching the carb from parts tree I saw a piece that had ribs on it and I thought it was the fuel pump. I clipped it off and threw it into the purple pool with the carb. When I retrieved it, I noticed that there was no bottom to it. Then I realized it wasn't a fuel pump - its the external mirror! LOL! ?
  9. Thanks, Gareth and Douglas! I appreciate your comments! I mocked up the wheels and tires and I had a feeling that they were too small while putting them together. I think Lindberg missed the boat on scale. So I pulled out the tires from the Reacher 70 Chevelle that I just finished. I found some wheel backs from spare parts for a 66 GTO and deeper dish keystones from a 68 Roadrunner. Those look much better! Thanks for looking!
  10. Thanks, Trevor! I appreciate your comment! I'm making pretty good progress now. After finishing the foil, installed the engine, finished the chassis and assembled the wheels and tires. I painted some red lines on the tires with acrylic paint. I'm working on the interior now. Also painted the inner fender liners flat black. Maybe they should be flat red but I don't have any flat red and don't have a need for it on most builds so I don't keep it on hand. Got to draw the line somewhere! Thanks for looking! ?
  11. Thanks, Carl and Rusty! I appreciate your comments! Well, the best laid plans.... Somehow, I let the paint dry for a few hours and when I looked at it again it looked like red sandpaper in the trunk area and other areas looked like they had contracted acne. So it led to hours of sanding out the paint with 4000 - 8000 sanding cloths. I got most of it out without exposing the edges using some tape but it sure was disappointing. But on a positive note, my Elmer's Glue method for the foil seems to be working. Thanks for looking!
  12. Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments! Yes, the photos that I saw for 442s had colors all over the map. I thought about a gold color but opted for this color. The weather is improving so yesterday I painted the body. Unfortunately, it came out a little rough in spots so I spent the morning with the 4000 - 8000 cloths to smooth out the paint and took paint off a few edges. So today I gave it another coat of paint and two coats of clear. It came out beautifully so I hope I can just rub it out tomorrow with some Scatch-X without exposing the many edges on the body. I'll have to use plenty of Tamiya tape for the edges. Although the manufactured color is Spanish Red, I don't have any of that so I used Tamiya Italian Red. I also used Testors Revving Red on the interior and fortunately, not many metal flakes appeared in the paint. Its a little darker than the exterior color. Thanks for looking!
  13. Thanks, Rusty, Mike and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Still raining here so the only thing I could do was to wire and build the engine. Here are a couple of pics. The instructions indicate that the color should be Olds engine blue metallic but most of the engines that I saw in photos on the internet were this copper-like bronze. I have a little bit of Testors Dark Bronze Metallic so I used it. Thanks for looking!
  14. This Lindberg kit is next. Its been my experience that the Lindberg kits are generally molded well and this kit seems to be the same. Not much flash or mold lines and a well-engraved interior and engine. Too cold today to paint but I did manage to assemble the engine black and get it painted in the garage. The valve covers had some sink marks in them so I removed the chrome and filled the sinks. I assembled some other pieces, such as, the peculiar rear portions of the inner fender liners (see below). Not sure why the inner fender liner wasn't molded as 1 piece on each side but they're glued together now. I can now wire up the engine and get it done while I am waiting for the weather to warm up. I'll probably go with Red on Red for the paint. Thanks for looking! ?
  15. Thanks, All! I appreciate all your comments! ?
  16. Nice looking 70 Chevelle! The Monogram kit is much nicer than the AMT kit. I'm hoping that Revell would continue on with the Chevelle line as they have recently issued the 68 and 69 Chevelles. Nice work on yours! ??
  17. Nice work! I don't think I could dream up anything like it! Beautifully done! ??
  18. Welcome back! Nice looking hot rod! ??
  19. Nice looking rust bucket! the windows look like it is being driven but I don't think I would get behind the wheel! Nice work! ??
  20. Nice paint, scallops and overall clean build. Nice work! ??
  21. Nice looking Roadster! Paint finish looks great and great workmanship! ??
  22. Tamiya Black and Aluminum with a red pinstripe from the 69 GTX kit. All the chrome trim has been shaved. The rest is a box stock build. Not much detail in the interior and no engine wiring or plumbing. Thanks for looking!
  23. This one is done. added a red pinstripe from the 69 GTX convertible kit to the body sides and it fit quite well. Box stock except for no chrome trim and two-tone paint. Thanks for looking!
  24. Thanks, Ray, Carl and Mike! I appreciate your comments! Rubbed out the body and it looks pretty good. I didn't spend any time on the interior, chassis, or engine. I did install a monitor for the phone, radio, GPS, etc. (LOL). I didn't bother with the door panels as they were so faint I just sanded them off. No wiring on the engine as I am waiting on pre-wired distributors but probably wouldn't use one on this build anyway. I used some Goodyear tires from the parts box so I could save the tampo-printed Goodyears in the Reacher kit. I assembled the engine, chassis and interior and mocked it up on wheels. I may be able to make a small silk purse out of this sow's ear yet! Thanks for looking! ?
  25. This AMT kit started out as a quick build since there are only 2 body parts to paint. I thought I could get a quick paint job done, considering the weather. I have built this kit and the Monogram kit before but forgot what a challenge this AMT kit is. The "A" pillars are too thin, the window trim is not good, and there are lumps in the trunk and left side "B" pillar. So I decided to go another way. I removed all the chrome trim, removed the chrome from the front bumper and grill and rear taillight panel and bumper. Then I decided to paint it two-tone black and silver. No foil on this one and I'll just add a decal pinstripe between the black and silver colors. I'll add a bit of chrome pen to the SS emblems. Here are a few photos of past builds, progress photos, and final painted body. I still need to a clear coat. Thanks for looking! Previous builds Body work Tamiya Black and Gloss Aluminum
