  1. do you guys ever deal with the temptation of building even though you know that you might not be in the greatest mood, or maybe its a bad day, or working on limited time therefore cutting corners ignoring the obvious outcomes from acting in such way? It happened to me today on my revell porsche 911 turbo, i was painting the interior, totally seemed to forget about checking the weather for humidity levels, not waiting between coats of paint, ruining the interior as a result. Paint ran and bubbles where everywhere, good thing I had a spare interior from the slant nose convertible. Lesson learned for like the millionth time, or reintegrated at least.... patience is a virtue. good things come to those who wait... this is definitely not a hobby for those who do not have patience. I can see how our youth does not build as much, in this day and age of instant gratification it can be hard to wait for great outcomes.
  2. Thank you so much for the tips guys! I will definitely take a look at undercarriage pics online. I was reading somewhere certain manufacturing plants used red oxide or "slop" and vehicles in California usually had red oxide thanks for the reference :)
  3. I bought some red oxide primer, my questions is what car manufacturers used red oxide primer on their chassis? I know typically the chassis also had over spray from the body paint. What years or decades was red oxide used? Looks like grey primer wasn't as easily available in the 60s 70s? Most company's used red oxide? Researched online
  4. what if level 4 included your own 3d files to incorporate 3d printed parts in your base model to keep costs down? Lol
  5. I agree us model builders are cheapskates, the majority of us don't have enough of a disposable income to buy a " premium" kit. If we did we probably would be buying the actual cars in 1:1 and not 1/24 ! . I think there are enough household items and everyday items to be able to detail engines like electrical wiring, fittings, even evergreen styrene. I personally do not wanna pay more than $15 for a kit even to this day. I can't justify spending more than maybe $18 on a really good kit. This is why I don't shop at local hobby stores, use 40% coupons at michaels an hobby lobby, and shop eBay. I have been able to buy over 250+ kits in the past three years many rate for under $15. A skill level 4 at a premium price would drive the price to more insane levels than what they already are. Although I must say, it takes a lot of work to find bargain prices models, it is a rarity , but when you find those deals its best to act quickly. I've wasted a lot of time just bargain hunting for kits online, rummage sales, flea markets, secondhand stores. What's funny about this is that many would consider this opportunity cost to defeat the purpose of saving Money, but actually find it enjoyable and probably accounts for 45% of the fun of this hobby!
  6. So i was attempting to buy a few sets of pegasus wheels and later came to find out neither ebay, amazon, or any other of the extensive online hobby stores carry pegasus lowrider wheels, sovereigns, or reverse chrome rims! What is going on? and have you notice the steep climb in prices for the pegasus lowrider rims?
  7. Nice cobra wow ,!
  8. do these brakes look good on pegasus 23" rims? i think the brakes were meant for 19" rims , but where are the respective brakes for the 23s?
  9. what a beautiful skyline , love this one and the early 90s skyline . nice execution
  10. im realy loving the stock look on this one! great model.
  11. this is one beautiful mustang 2. you made the mustang 2 look pretty, not too many can do that in my eyes at least .
  12. very nice model i like how you painted the bumpers black. how is this build anyway? any major issues? I know they have re released this kit most recently
  13. i like how this kit looks, i actually have the spare engine on this one for the lil red express. very nice build!
  14. this is a nice daytona , looks just like the one from the movie. excellent build
  15. Can you elaborate how Shari how much spent in the hobby can be risky?
  16. thanks for the tips, I'm going to attempt painted the trim black with only paintbrushes. I actually had the slant nose, and it came with the pillars crushed! Lol only using for junk parts
  17. I've primered the body in white, I'm going to shoot another layer of prime and paint sun fire yellow. Any tips on how to do black trim? Is brushing good for smaller areas? Wider areas would prob have to get spray painted to avoid brush marks, I absolutely hate those! Honestly, I think that's one of the reasons I stay away from building modern vehicles, and the fact that they can be seen in the streets lol. I kinda want a more modern look, I might buy some fujimi wheels for this one. Rear tires should be wider than the front. I don't like the revell tires very much. It's a nice kit, pretty simple.
  18. What is the purpose of larger diameter rims on race cars? F1 cars are going to run around looking like donks, will they have a sound system?
  19. Other than the wheels and tires.. Jk . It seems to be a classic opening statement on here before complementing a model. Hey nice build, love the paint schemes, side skirts, did u make ur own? And the lowrider theme is nice, I like good clean lowrider a with no murals or graphics like this one
  20. Thanks for the responds guys, I no longer feel alone haha. It's always great to verify my sanity with you guys lol .
  21. You know what sucks? When you've finally Made up your mind to buy that one. Kit you've been eyeing, and it's not available at the local hobby store anymore. I lost count on how often this happened, therefore I do not second doubt myself on a kit I want to get anymore. It's nice to have multiple kits ain't it'?
  22. That's an excellent idea, I think that by simply looking online for images of the 1:1 version, you can start getting ma feel for what you want to build at that time
  23. Haha yea I love Chevy impalas , I have like every year of it. Ford has some nice vehicles, I have a huge collection of mustangs ! I love mustangs !
  24. Looks like you have solved my problem! Lol
  25. Lol nice approach you got there lovefordgalaxie. I know most people have one car maker preference, I have an extensive collection of kits from diff automotive manufacturers, I really do not have a preference. I buy a kit based on the real 1:1 's body lines, and styling. I guess I see certain vehicles as Pieces of art. Its nice to see them in the streets or at shows, and when at home, they provide endless eye candy in 1/24 scale lol. I do find myself carrying more Chevys than anything else, so idk what that's all about ...
