  1. We got to see Nibiru in the movie Star Trek Into Darkness. The planet with the volcano and white crusty people at the beginning of the movie. I've always wondered how many caught that, and understood where that name came from?
  2. How does effect my model building? Is it something I really need to worry about?
  3. The more I see of Volares and Aspens, the better I like them. I've always like the '76 and '77 Volares and Aspens. But, I never really liked the new grilles for either of in '78 and '79. And the new taillights were even worst. The 1980s front end was a big improvement over the previous two years. But, still I wasn't overly thrilled with it at the time. As time goes by, I still like the '76 and '77s a lot. The 1980s versions have gotten better in time IMO. The '78 - '79s? I'm still not fond of them. Though they are not as ugly as I remember them to be either. The taillights on all post '77 Volares and Aspens are terrible to this day. Bland, boring, and too plasticee looking. The other thing I like are the '76 and '77s Volare Road Runners and Aspen R/Ts without the spoilers, wheel flares, and window louvers. '79 was the worst year for both option packages. 1980 they cleaned them up a lot. Though I still have mixed feeling about the spoilers on those. Okay enough said for now about that. Time to go sand those t-top roof seams away.
  4. I've got both the new Spy Car version, and the Buyer's Choice drag version from the early 2000's. Here's my delema with these two kits. Matching exterior paint colors. I only paint with rattle cans. So I'm wondering what comes close in a rattle cans to match the color of each car? The Spy Car not as tough I believe as matching the color of the drag car. The drag car is an odd very light yellow/gold. Anybody out there with any suggestions on this. The Buyer's Choice version of the drag car came with terrible decals. I bought some aftermarket replacements. But, it looks like spy version has most, if not all the correct decals for the drag car. Thanks Round 2. They always go that extra mile with their reissues. Something Ertl did not do, even with their Buyer's Choice kits. Two very cool cars in real life. And two very cool models representing them.
  5. Shame on you. I thought I was the only one allowed to make mistakes like that.
  6. I would love to know if Round 2 has the molds for this one. And could it be reissued? I've always thought it was the coolest car ever raced at Indy.
  7. The answer to it all is 42.
  8. I like that. That's funny. ?
  9. Interesting, the comments about Revell's '57 Nomad being bad. I've heard this before. I've built at least two of these over the years. One in the very early 1970's. One later on, near the end of that same decade. True it was a more difficult kit to build compared to the common AMT and MPC kits of time. But, I don't remember having any major problems building that first one. The second one? I do remember having a little more difficulties with that one for some reason. Yet I don't remember why. The lack of a good '57 Nomad in 1/25 (or 1/24) scale baffles me. This is a kit I would think would sell like hot cakes. It seems like everybody loves the '57 Chev. And Nomad has been popular since they quit building the real ones back in the day. So where is this kit?
  10. I heard a ad on the radio yesterday that there might be a new Hobby Town in one of the Twin Cities southern suburbs? I was at work at O'Reilly's at the time, working with a customer, so I really couldn't pay too close attention to the ad. A new hobby shop opening up? This seems like good news.
  11. Too bad more people don't live in harmony with others because of their spiritual beliefs. They say that God will judge all in the end. So why do I need to worry about it until then? (Boy, I hope I'm not opening up can of worms with that one. That is not my intention.) I need to live my life to best that I can. And hope God forgives me and the other pathetic little creatures I share this world with. And please don't tell me about your religious beliefs that your deity has already forgiven my sins. I already agree with that. But, forgiven or not, I don't feel it's my right to judge others if their religious or moral beliefs are different from mine. As long as it doesn't harm me or others. Again it's God's right to judge in the end. Whom ever that God maybe.
  12. This is always a good one. But, I thought it was rule number 86? ?
  13. Was the guy doing the video joking? I suspect not. And that's the problem. This type of stuff seriously scares a lot people. Like some of the kids I work with. And when I was younger it use to scare me. I've had several talks, especially during the Myan/2012 end of the world predictions, with kids who were worried that it was going to be true. I assured them that I've been though serval of these "end of the world" predictions before. And I'm still here. If I remember correctly, I think people were saying the world was going to end on December 21, 2012 in that one? I remember it was going to be in the middle of week, with school scheduled for the next day. I told the kids that despite the apocalypse on that date, I planned on coming to work the next day. By the way, here is my theory of why the Myan calendar ended in 2012. The Myan's ran out swim suit models for their calendar. That's what happens when you sacrifice too many of them to the gods! ?
  14. Boring! ?? I should be pretty safe. But, then again I'm not really worried about it. There are always people predicting the end of world.
  15. With all of this talk about the Milner coupe, which kit best represents the car straight out of the box? MPC's? Revell's? Who's? I know neither the MPC or Revell one is perfect. But, is one better than the other? Or is there something else even better out there?
  16. I wonder where the dies to this one went? I like Chaparrals. Again, I wonder how this one compared old Monogram and IMC Chaparrels?
  17. Okay, you know me. I opened my mouth and then check the facts. A quick web search showed me the '56 Bird you guys were talking about. After seeing the box art, I vaguely remember this kit. What is the history of this kit? Was designed during the Ertl days? And how is it compared to Monogram's '56? In other words, is it a nice kit or not? Also, like '55, AMT did a promo of the '56 in 1956. So far I have found no information that it as offered as a kit like their early '55.
  18. Several people here have mentioned that AMT has offered a model of a '56 Thunderbird, like Suzzane Summers drove in American Graffiti. When did this happen? In 1/25 scale, the only two-seat Thunderbird I know of made by AMT is their perennial '57. They did offer a '55 back in 1955. But a '56? I don't remember that one.
  19. Wow! A little scary reading the above link. I knew it could happen with Hot Wheels, but not other stuff. I'm glad I'm not a big collector of diecast stuff.
  20. Okay it took me a while, but I now get the Woodstock "riddle" above. You came as sperm in your father. Left as a fertilized egg with your mother. I wouldn't count it as a "corny joke." And it's a little bit in bad taste.
  21. Is it out yet?
  22. I'd love to see the above monter trucks posted by Jesse, offered in their stock versions. I have no interest in monster trucks what so ever. But, especially the Dodge and Datsun in stock form. I'd be all over those.
  23. I love old movies and TV shows. Though, when I talk old, I mean really old. For example, I love black and white movies from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. I even like really old silent movies. In fact, my all time favorite movie is Fitz Lang's Metropolis, filmed in 1926. And for TV, I basically like anything before about 1975. Don't get me wrong, there are some newer things I do like in both Movies and TV. But, my favorite stuff is old Marx Brothers and Three Stooes comedies. Anything with Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, or Steve McQueen. Film Noirs. 50's Sci Fi. Alfred Hitch movies. And the like. And I do tend watch them over and over again, several times.
  24. I'm a Trekie and that thing turns me off. That is the worst looking Enterpise model I've ever seen.
