Mine lined up a lot better than that. Scott

Ah, thanks Art. I was trying to figure out what model kit he was talking about. I thought maybe he had an old Ford Falcon or something else. Bringing up the Lincoln Futura and door lines makes some sense. Scott

Yea know, I find myself agreeing more and more with you "Snake." I have Exacto knives, sand paper, files, and Dreamel. Flash is not that big of a deal. And has always been part of modeling, as far back as I remember. And that's into the mid-60's modeling wise. Scott

I'm still surprised by the MPC version. It's no where near as bad as everybody says it is. The front end on the Revell kit.... That's another story. Scott

1/25 Revell Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon 2'n'1

Now that's funny! Scott -
What's the old story about the poor bird freezing in the middle of winter? To add insult to injury, a cow comes along and poops on it. At first the bird is unhappy. It stinks in there! But, pretty soon it's feeling pretty good as the warm poo starts warming it up. Soon it feels so good it starts singing. Well a cat hears the singing. Because of that singing it easily finds the bird, digs it out of the manure and eats it. The moral of the story? Not everybody who poos on you is your enemy. And not everybody who digs you out is your friend. Scott

Upgrade headlights (AMT 70 Baldwin Camaro)?

I'm trying to remember if I painted mine or not. Looking at photos of the real cars, I bet that's what I very carefully did. Scott -
What are you talking about here? What Futura model are you refering to? We need more specifics before at least I can comment on this problem. Scott

Kit source for a Chrysler 440 TNT engine?
unclescott58 replied to beeRS's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's what I thought too. The 383 Commando in the Road Runners. And the Super Bees may have had a Magnum 383. But, I only know of plain 383s in Chryslers. Two and four barrels. I do know that 440s came in both TNT and non-TNT four barrel versions. I am not sure if there was ever a TNT version of the 413? Scott -

The horse, the second one on the left doesn't look quite right to me. Notice it's eyes are partially closed. Both front look like they're forward at the same time. Not matching the other three. Revell must have made the horses for movie! We now have photographic proof! Scott -
What did you see on the road today?
unclescott58 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Saw a Ford Raptor pickup in the same color and markings as Revell's model of the same. The look of the model has not impressed me. And neither did the real thing. Scott -
Clarkson does it again.

Is this real? Or an April Fools joke? How reliable was your source? I'm having a little bit of a hard time believing it since you post this on April 1st. Scott -

Seems like a fair and honest interview. Scott -
Kit source for a Chrysler 440 TNT engine?

A TNT version of the 383? Never heard of that one. Scott -
I was a little confused on this grille at first. The grille in Revell's 4-4-2 kit is not correct for a normal 4-4-2. It is correct on the Hurst 4-4-2s and the Cutlass Supremes. For this reason I passed on the kit. I'm not a big fan of the Hurst cars. If it had the correct Oldsmobile 4-4-2 grille I'd go for it. I'd also like the option to be able to build it without the optional scooped hood (standard only on the Hurst cars). Scott

Kit source for a Chrysler 440 TNT engine?
unclescott58 replied to beeRS's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Zoinks! is right. Maybe a JoHan '66, '67, or '68 Chrysler 300 kit. I'd be willing to bet the Plymouth Fury kits from that time also came with that same engine. Only listed as a Commando. Scott -

Okay Mr. Smythe. Who is this? And why are you posting his picture? Do you just post random pictures of people for no reason? Scott -

what is "good design"?
unclescott58 replied to southpier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A few years back there was a US Supreme Court Justice who was asked for his definition of pornagraphy vs. nudity in art. He replied that he didn't know how to define it, but knew it when he saw it. That's kind of how I feel good design. And sometimes it's just a little thing that can take a bad design and turn it into a good one. And vice versa. For me the best automotive design ever is Gordon Buehrig's stunning 1936 and '37 Cord 810/812. From the first one I ever saw 45 years ago, to this day, I've been blown away by the Cord 810/812. Every line on that car is right. With one exception. I really dislike the 812 Beverlys with the bulging trunk lid. I understand the need for that trunk lid. But, to me it ruins the perfect lines of an already great design. Scott -
Very nice Mustang. '67 is still my favorite. I like the Chevy in the last photo too. Scott

Rolling down the car windows to smell the roses around here will just get you frostbite on your nose. Well.... Okay, it's maybe not that bad right now, but nothing will be blooming around here for another month or two. Still, I had an assignment at an elementary school this week that required me to do crossing guard duty in the morning just before school started. It was chilly the there the three mornings I did it. But, still it was nice. I was only outside for 20 minutes at the most, waiting for 5 kids. No birds singing, which is a shame. But it was a nice quite way start to the day. Scott
