  1. Very cool! Though I admit, I wouldn't have the guts to drive that thing under those conditions. It obviously works just fine. But, I'd be to paranoid to enjoy myself. Scott
  2. I've alway like the looks of that generation Consul. Especially the Capri version. Scott
  3. Just went to Missing Link's website to look at their parts to convert the MPC '73/AMT '71 Boss 351 to a more correct '71 front end. Clicked on the parts button, and all it would show me was information about international shipping. And the front end did not come up in the kit section. But again, the front bumper is the only real problem. Paint the grille surround and the headlamp bezels black. And with the grille insert included in the kit it look pretty darn close. In fact, it would be nice if Round 2 included a decent 1973 grille insert with tthis kit. So one could build it as a correct looking '73 Mach 1. The "73" grille insert that is include in the kit is way too small. Does anybody know if anybody makes a correct '73 grille and/or '73 Mach 1 decals for this kit? It would be fun to build a '73 Mach 1 to go with my James Bond '71. Scott
  4. Now that would cool. Plus we can use a few more '59 Fords out there. Revell's Retractable is only a fair kit. I'd love to see a Fairlane 500 (not Galaxie) Club Victoria coupe, Sunliner convertible, and a Country Squire or Country Sedan wagons. Basically the Fords AMT offered back in 1959. Scott
  5. The above is the old MPC kit I was refering to. Note the front bumper and the headlamp bezels. Both are incorrect for 1971. The bezels can be fixed just by painting them black. Like I said, mine ended looking okay. Scott
  6. Yes in their early years the J10s were called Gladiators. Scott
  7. Ah, the least loved of the original Mustangs, 1971 - 1973. So of course I love them. Snake is right, the only option for a somewhat stock/street version of that generation Mustang is the old MPC kit. Released several times under both the MPC and AMT banner. The last release I purchased and built was the one reissued as a '71 Boss 351. Ertl took the '73 MPC Mach 1 and with a grille insert tried to pass it off as a '71 Boss. It didn't work. The '71 Boss 351 came with a chrome bumper. This kit still had the slightly larger non-chrome '73 bumper. And from what I remember, the engines are kind of mess in this kit. Neither fish nor fowl? None of the variations are quite right? I may be wrong on this. My solution in building this kit, was to try and build it somewhat close a '71 Mach 1. I got Mach 1 decals from Keith Marks and built mine to look like the car Sean Connery drove in Diamonds are Forever. Over all, other than the bumper being slightly larger than it was on the real '71s, it looks pretty good. Scott
  8. Got a complete, unmolested, in a good box, 1967 AMT Falcon at our local model club swap meet two nights ago. The body is down in the basement with a coat or two of Testor's One Coat Icy Blue lacquer on it. And it's looking pretty good! I'll be building this kit box stock, with nothing added but paint. I love cars from the year 1967. And I love the AMT kits from this era. And I got it at a pretty good price. A win-win-win all the way around. I'm happy. Scott
  9. With a minimum amount of sanding on the underside of hood where it sits on the cowl, the fit is perfect. With the fit of the stock hood, and my memory of it in the past, I'm guessing Round 2 modified and fixed it. It did not fit this well on my cabriolet. Okay, but as good as on the new coupe reissue. Scott
  10. The decal sheet in this kit is fun. It's large, with lots of great choices for names and car sponsorship. I like it. Hopefully someone who can post pictures of it here will do so. Scott
  11. I'm not sure on this one. Sitting here looking at mine, it looks okay. But not perfect. The left side seems to lineup better than the right. And that's with the two halves glued together. Scott
  12. Got mine last night. I'm very happy with what I found when I opened the box. Everthing looks good. Mine has no flash. The dies are apparently in good shape or have been repaired. Love the tires. Nice set of 4 pad printed whitewalls and 2 white lettered slicks. Another great Round 2 re-release. Scott
  13. Our local model car club had its annual swap meet tonight. Picked up AMT's recent reissue of the '37 Chevy coupe, plus their new red-line tire set. But, the big score for me tonight was a complete unbuilt AMT 1967 Ford Falcon Sport Coupe. Both the kit and the box are in very good shape. This was one of those "holy grail" kits for me. Got it at a price that was pretty good too. Scott
  14. There is some irony in the above. Showing a vehicle they don't make? Scott
  15. No he didn't. The more the better, I aways say. Scott
  16. Oh, oh! You went off subject here Bill. That is not a '57 Ford in that picture! Scott
  17. Those are great looking Devil Eggs. And if I was part of your family, I too would hope you continued the tradition of decorating them that way. It's a nice little thing I'm sure makes people happy. Keep it going. Scott
  18. These are great. If they do feel they need to be removed, I hope they move them in with Corny Joke thread instead. They'd fit in prefect there. Scott
  19. Thanks Bill and Al. Though love is a pretty strong word Al. Scott
  20. I think Dave maybe right on here. I've gone back and looked at mine. And the door lines seem okay. Scott
  21. This was very helpful Ken. Thanks. I wonder what your thoughts are, or others on the closest Tamyia spray (or other lacquer) paint to get the right look on the Pirahna Drag Car? As noted before, I have both models. Scott
  22. Wow! No matter what I say, I get in trouble with this one. I'm attacked for bringing up Nomads? And Monogram's '57 Nomad in particular? I'm accused of being off subject and a nitpicker? In real life, the the Ford Del Rio and the Chevy Nomad were competitors. And there's a big difference in comparing the flaws of Monogram's '57 Nomad to Revell's recent '57 Fords. The Fords may have their flaws. But, they look okay until the flaws are pointed out. The Monogram '57 Nomad just looks wrong sitting there. Mainly it looks way too short. Revell's old '57, newer '56, and AMT's '55 Nomads all looked better proportion wise. Okay now go ahead. Attack me on this one guys. At least I'm trying to keep the subject on models. I don't think I've changed the subject or personally attacked anyone in this thread. If I have, I apologize. My intent is to go with where ever the thread has gone. Throw in a little humour from time to time. (I may not be succeeding. But, I try.) And finally talk about a model kit I'm excited to see coming in the near future. I'm don't mind disagreements. But, this has been feeling a little too personal to me lately. I don't know what I did to get these personal attacks focused on me. Scott
