  1. Hmmmm... I'd always wondered when the Ford finally got rid of the cab tank; didn't notice the one on this truck til after I took the pic. It was usually deletable in favor of the frame tanks or could be kept in combination with them. Thought maybe the guy had restored this one with an older cab until I found that the '76 and '77 brochures still made mention of the fact that 'most models' had the tank moved out of the cab, indicating there was still a possibility of having one. I'd love to see the Marti report on this one...
  2. That's true; no Ford came from the factory with more than five. Interestingly, you could order just the middle three, the outside two or all of them. This Marti report shows how one guy ordered his... In the end, it's up to the builder. Gorgeous build, Sven!
  3. Great concept, Bill! Good to see you're still at it. Lots of good ideas there. The 360 and 390s were both offered across the board on these and were identical externally from '68-'74, with only aircleaner and valve cover stickers to identify them. Without that, you had to measure the piston stroke with a stick through the spark plug hole to confirm which one it was minor edit: 4x4 had the 360 only....
  4. Nicely done! Stance and color are great. As for that grill, let's hope they take time to improve it for the new Mercury they're bringing out. I'm sure the chevy truck guys don't want to see a mess like that on the new issue 67/68 ?
  5. Lets hope they stay on the rails as well A customer, anticipating his new '15 F150 in late 2014 had to wait a little longer... due to a wreck in Saskatchewn Local wreckers won their bids for some of the carnage.
  6. Saw the results of someone trying to replicate those trim holes on a scale chevy; ended up looking like someone had stitched it with a '47
  7. https://www.google.ca/search?sca_esv=324d2da6d69578fe&sca_upv=1&q=field+of+dreams&tbm=vid&source=lnms&prmd=isvmnbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjYgYjTo-CFAxWEODQIHT9LAVkQ0pQJegQIDhAB&biw=1920&bih=927&dpr=1#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:224613e9,vid:7SB16il97yw,st:0 ...and it all boils down to this...
  8. The things that remind us to look up and say 'Thanks!' once in a while ? Sure good to hear you made it through all right, Marty.
  9. Has anyone tried the cab against the box on the court martial truck (deserter) 4x4?
  10. Agreed. Plus it's the only game in town, it appears, for a pre-81 chevy in 1/25.
  11. Coming soon... A lot of history behind this one
  12. Here's a side by side comparison of the mpc and amt '69s... The mpc(newer reissues branded as amt) is shorter but the width is pretty close; the windshield is a hair narrower but the hood reportedly seems to be pretty close. The original amt body tooling on the left was altered to create the '70 body.
  13. The badging certainly looks well done.
  14. Sooo, when are you going to write about that ?
  15. Been wanting to do something similar to my identical promo... could call it ' Hanmore, eat your heart out!'
  16. A big thanks to modlbldr for a smooth trade!
  17. If anyone has a set of the '67 Mustang improved front and rear parts from Replicas and Miniatures they're not going to use please let me know. ... and I'm also looking for a decent front bumper/grill and headers from the Dyno Don johan Maverick. Thanks!
  18. That could work... interesting to note that the dentside version of these F5-800 truck cabs still used the 68-72 dash for the better instrumentation, proving the cabs share internal architecture. Some discussion on the why of desiring an accurate cab... All for the want of taking a tooling mockup out into the sunlight with calipers, measuring tape and a calculator... I'm guessing that the GM guys are hoping the licensors care a little more about representation of their intellectual properties than the Ford reps apparently did
  19. Another thing to remember if you want to build a fairly accurate early Mustang is that they used the falcon cluster... The five dial cluster came along later in '65 for the GT package and was eventually made standard on the '66. Of course lots of parts get changed in sixty years, so whatever shows up on your personal project shows up ...
  20. These windsor series 221/260/289 smallblocks were introduced in the '62 Fairlanes. While Ford may not have introduced the non-draft tube pcv systems into general production til the tail end of '64, they did apparently have kits to help their CA bound and produced vehicles meet the regulations. I came across one in the wreckers a few years back on a 260 Fairlane that was identical to this... Goes from the draft tube opening to the carb spacer plate. Wish I'd grabbed it now; they're getting scarce.
  21. That's a cool combination! Brings to mind the old Red Simpson song 'I'm a truck'
