  1. Can't always trust google image labels; the last two are actually '60 Mercs. Here's a '59... Hopefully the other grills are a possibilty with this new tooling of the original '60.
  2. Since Round2 has been induced to reintroduce the classic AMT 1960 F100 pickup kit (thank you Mr Goldman) it seemed to be a good time to throw in some pics and details of this whole generation of Ford trucks to help inspire some creative building. 1957 1958 1959 1960
  3. For those interested in following through on more chassis detail, here's the 57-60 frame profile... I've heard that Mr Holthaus recommended using the amt mid-fifties truck frame under his resin 57-60 offerings. And a link to a couple of Roger's (plowboy) superb builds... and another great build deserving mention... Can't have Mr Coulter feeling left out... If he flips the color scheme, he can use his new decals Great inspirations here.

  5. Thanks Tim! and Steve G. ! Hope the Cyclone 390 doesn't come with the Buick port spacing shown on the box :)
  6. It's entirely possible that AMT just muffed the detail by placing the exhaust tips too far outboard on the valance. Seems to me that that has to be it, as the tips tie the GT theme all together. Backup lights would have been a secondary feature probably not deemed needed at first.
  7. Here's what they look like on the street freak chrome tree, lacking the locating pin of the original. Being hollowed out, they could double for the trumpets maybe.
  8. Digging up the old instrumentals I grew up with is a great memory trip; Dad loved quite a range of music always had Alpert, Firehouse Five, swing, Kenny Ball, James Last or something playing...
  9. Love that '57! I get what you mean about the lower fender light contour but I just meant that in scale with a valance, lights and grill it's an easy up/back date. Good project for a guy with a 3D scanner and printer.
  10. Might be easier to fudge in scale than you think... The fender wrap below the lights looks the same, with the 57/58 signal straddling the line at the lower valance. Here's a pic I scared up of the F&F resin '57 Pics following found on line claim to be modelhaus conversions...
  11. All I can say is be careful what you wish for If Round2 chooses to resurrect this one, they can certainly conjure multiple grills to extend the tool's versatility. While some long for 37 piece chassis detail, I believe the sales of this appealingly designed kit will justify the wisdom in keeping it simple. Of course, there's always room for some improvements. It's pretty much a proven fact that no one's going to match the accuracy of the original body.
  12. The original AMT body, like most of their vintage offerings, captures the look and feel of the car better than the monogram/revell item. Very true. Like Mr Wherry's turquoise coupe, I consider this one a 'benchmark' build of an original, only in emberglo....
  13. Thanks for that, Bill. I've been curious about those since I first read Spence Murrays' article about them in one of the Petersen Complete Ford books years ago. Called it the 'half-merc' for it's 119 cid size but little was known about them at that time.
  14. Not the first time this has happened... Whoever started this kit got it wrong too; aided and abetted by IMC casting the letters upside down in the first place Of course, they're not supposed to be glued onto the 427 block either, but... Love to see this project coming along so nicely. Hope you don't mind my adding some history from the may '63 Sports Car Graphic...
  15. Came across the same thing with a big model airplane collection but he put the decals in a few ziplock bags instead, for the obvious reason. Definitely agree! Been on the receiving end of 'pifs' myself
