  1. This really is nothing new..... Am I the only one here who had a Mattel "Vrroom" motor mounted on his bicycle back in the 60s? ;-)
  2. Good for you, Rich. And for those who have a kid in their life who's too young to start building, you can always take the kid to a car show. See attached...me and my grandson...
  3. I'm a bit late in posting, but I got a new grandson yesterday morning a little after 10AM Eastern. His name is Ben, and he weighed-in at 7#12oz, 21" long. Hopefully a future model builder, and heir to my stash....
  4. Just when I thought I've seen it all. This started out as a Mercury Sable....
  5. Looks like a scene from the old TV show "Emergency". Glad you finally found one - good for you!
  6. Would LOVE to see a decent kit of a '64 Chevelle. The original curbside AMT doesn't quite cut it, and they're so rare that the price is outrageous (if you can find one).
  7. You may have seen this one before, but I thought it'd fit well here. This '25 T-Bucket started out with a plan to build a nice street rod. When I opened the box, I found that the roadster body was badly warped. At the suggestion of a local model club member, I decided to use the bad bucket and make a pseudo junker out of it. This is my first attempt at such a build. I now have a greater respect for those of you who have been building "junkers" or wrecked models; it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
  8. Bill - you're probably so full of glue and paint fumes that you'll be well preserved for quite a while...... ;-)
  9. Ditto here, only a couple of exceptions: an original-issue JoHan Chrysler Turbine Car, and a Pocher 1/8 scale Alfa Romeo (because both still exceed my skill level).
  10. Danno: Check out the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Even if you're not into aircraft, it's a must-see in the Portland area. The museum is home to the infamous "Spruce Goose" aircraft that once belonged to Howard Hughes.
  11. My wife had a '73 V-6 back in the day. Very fast little car (she had the speeding tickets to prove it), but no match for my '70 Grand Prix. Nice build! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. In all these years that I've been attending car shows, I've only seen one (1) Capri, and it was the next series. I think they all rusted to dust in our area.
  12. Greg - It's not serious until the moderators start calling you by your full name (including middle name) like your mom used to do when you got in trouble at home. ;-)
  13. Chris - One of the resin casters - I think "Missing Link" - did a '64 Chevelle Malibu kit that's modified to have an open hood, and some underhood details. You might want to check it out; could save you a lot of work...
  14. I attended the "Cincinnati Challenge 19" model car contest and swap meet today. Picked up a couple of goodies in the swap area. Attention Tom Geiger: even in Cincinnati, I find those pesky Valiants!
  15. When I was in high school back in the early 70s, I saw something like this on a couple of occasions. Some jocks from the football team picked up a Honda Civic and placed it on the sidewalk. For you younger folks, FYI the Civic was tiny back then and only had 12" tires. Also saw a similar group move a teacher's dinky Triumph sports car into someone's front yard near our high school. This was in a small town that had the old-fashioned yards with an approx 12" high stone berm around the perimeter of yard, and the old decorative wire "fencing" (looks kinda like croquet hoops). They removed the fencing, lifted the car in place, and then neatly replaced the fencing. Never did hear how the owner got the car outta there. Might have been a challenge due to the Triumph's low ground clearance. ;-) Boys-will-be-Boys....
  16. Good job, Vince. Now, if you would just kill that stupid groundhog of yours that's extending the winter weather....
  17. X2
  18. She told me I was the third guy in there looking for NP, one needed to paint something on a scope for a rifle, and one was touching up paint on a carb for a lawn mower. The cool thing was, when I told her I build custom models, she didn't look at me with the "Why is a grown man playing with kids toys?" She actually helped me find the pearl white and then broke out a box from behind the counter of stuff that didn't fit on the shelves and helped me rummage through that looking for unique colors. Now that I think about it, I wonder if she is single,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Gorgeous!
  20. I understood him perfectly. Of course, I'm used to watching "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" on the telly with my grandson...
  21. I greatly admire Mr Wingrove's work. It's so far out there, though, that I know I'm never going to be there. He's from a different planet!
  22. Yup, definitely unsafe at any speed! Great job, Dave!!!
