  1. To make a truck kit to appeal to everyone (crew cab, dually option, engine options, 2/4wd options) the kit would cost $200 bucks. People are already balking at the $75 Meng kit. I think the best hope for a new truck kit is for this Meng kit to sell like crazy and Round2 or Revell to realize they missed the boat and pull something out of their hats.
  2. I'm not saying that all modelers are like that. But the truck modelers have very little to work with in terms of modern trucks. Its not that we like the inaccurate chassis but sometimes that is the only starting point we have. If that makes us gullible oafs so be it. The Moebius kits aside, the most recent American truck kits from any manufacturer are nearly 20 years old. So to hear all the nitpicking about new kits from the car side gets quite frustrating. At least you guys have a better starting point. I would love a new truck kit that was flawed with 'shallow scripts' or 'missing air cleaner decal'. A lot has already been discussed about this kit. Some will buy it, some won't. Price being one hinderance, the lack of parts (crew cab, dually option etc) being another. All I'm saying is while major kit inaccuracies are annoying, minor flaws maybe aren't so bad. Imagine if the most current Corvette kit was from 1992. Thats what truck modelers deal with.
  3. I found some stuff at Cabelas a couple years ago. Its thin round strips of rubber used for fly fishing. It came in 10-12 inch lengths. Forget how many came to a pack but if I remember it was pretty cheap price wise. Nothing looks more like rubber than rubber.
  4. Luckily only ugly people die in car crashes.
  5. This is what the hobby is about. Awesome model and story.
  6. I think that is the stupidest thing I read all day. I doubt I will remember tomorrow where I was when I heard this news. Losing all the cars seems a little extreme but not as extreme as that analogy.
  7. Hey! You got one of their new trucks!
  8. The price is only the first half of the battle. Wait until someone actually gets the kit, then the real nagging can begin. Yes, Italeri truck kits are not 100% true to the prototype. But this kit is already being hailed as the greatest thing ever and its not even here yet. So all us gullible oafs will be quietly waiting until you get your hands on one of these. Then you 'real modelers' can gripe how the trim is .0000000001 too tall, the fenders are too 'sweepy' and there is no scale usb port on the stereo.
  9. I've never been into the pop scene (been an alternative/screamo guy forever) but there is something infectious about Katy Perry songs. I have noticed as I have gotten a bit older I am branching out in to stuff I would have hated 3-4 years ago ( Mumford, Lumineers, One Republic). Katy is very easy on the eyes. Too bad her taste in men is so awful.
  10. Dreyers/Edys makes the girl scout cookie ice cream. Although they have now removed the Girl Scout and Samoa/Thin Mint tags for licensing reasons. Same product however.
  11. Get an old cd, put a thin coat of paint on it and lightly press it into the paint. LIGHTLY. It works kind of like a stamp pad. For a realistic effect, ding up the paint a little bit. Real tires never have perfect lettering.
  12. NASCAR has turned into the IROC series. All the cars are the same. Just slap a couple headlight and grill stickers on them and then you have a 'FORD' or whatever. It has become so boring to watch. Its all fuel mileage and teammates helping teammates. No one bumps, rubs or drives the wheels off it anymore. I used to get annoyed by people who said NASCAR is just guys going in circles. Sadly that is what it has become.
  13. There is a simiar video involving a rolled 18 wheeler. Once it gets upright it rolls away and tips the tow truck over. I'll try to find it.
  14. The KW W900 molds were altered to the T600. New molds would have to be done to bring that one back. No one seems to know the fate of the mixer body itself. I would imagine it is lost too. Apparently there will be new truck/ trailer kits will be announced later this year from Italeri and Moebius. Chuckyr seems to be in the know on this.
  15. [quote name="mistermodel" post="1110425" timestamp=" There is only a few that haven't been reissued- Kenworth Wmodels, aerodyne and the useless aerodynamic conventional .We still need the transtarII and S series, dump trailer, reefer van, cattle trailer, and furniture vans.I cant think of any more that haven't been reissued W model molds were altered to the T600. Dump trailer and livestock trailer were reissued back in the first couple rounds of reissues in 03-04.
  16. Any info on this?
  17. I take it there are no Justin Bieber fans in here? Music is definitely subjective. What someone may find amazing others will find as BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Personally I am not a fan of The Beatles but I do recognize their spot in music history. Same goes for Nirvana. My tastes vary all over the place. My guilty pleasure? Katy Perry. Anybody else have an odd guilty pleasure?
  18. It will happen. There is always the 'I don't care how much it costs' or 'I'll buy at least a case' crowd, then everyone is up in arms when it costs more than a dollar.
  19. It still counts. As long as there are guys on the field its spring training time.
  20. I think the weight advantage goes out the window when you factor in her driving abilities.
  21. NASCAR should be extra boring this year.
  22. Actually Spring Training started Friday. The Boston title defense has officially started.
  23. Exactly. Time for baseball and Peyton can focus on his Papa John commercials. Time to promote the new Tear Lovers pizza.
