  1. With Italeri and Revell of Germany kits it costs more to import them.
  2. Yes there is a sucker born every minute. It's also not my job or concern to inform everyone that they are a sucker. If someone wants to pay his prices thats their business. I know I won't. Like someone posted earlier when they get their saved search notifications and its full of his parts listings. I get tired of weeding through his listings to find what I really am looking for. IMO selling parts is one thing but taking a kit and selling it piece by piece seems assenine. How many complete kits have been lost to this guy? Maybe I should start selling my old lego kits piece by piece. I'd be a millionaire.
  3. I think the issue a lot of people have with this guy is that he is selling 'parts' but the 'parts' are obviously coming from a complete kit that has been taken apart. Its also really annoying to look for a certain 'complete' kit and have to weed through 200 listings of his 'kit' part by part. I'm not saying what this guy is doing is immoral or shady. There is a sucker born every minute. For me its just an annoyance factor. I will say that his not combining of shipping is a little shady though. $5 per part to ship and he can't put two in the same envelope?
  4. The Hobbytown by me is a joke. The owner/franchisee is a jerk and the prices are through the roof. If you aren't there for the R/C stuff they act you are a huge inconvenience to them. The last time I was in there was about a year and a half ago. There was an article in the other magazine I wanted to read so I stopped after work. What did I find when I went to the magazine rack? Even the mags were marked up!! $7 for a magazine. I shook my head and walked out. I'll never go there again. Does anyone else get tired of the 'support your LHS' speech? I don't know about you but I work hard for my money and like to make every dollar count. Why should I spend $30 on a kit when I can get it for $17-$18 online? Just so some jerk can make a couple more bucks on already inflated prices? The whole 'once you add in shipping' argument doesn't hold a lot of water either. If you do a little research and shopping around, you can save a lot of money. Unless you buy your kits one piece at a time from PJ Toys. Kits are expensive these days no doubt. But like everything else the days of $8-$10 kits are over. Just shop around and stretch your hobby dollars. Some day online hobby shops will be all that is left. If I can buy 3 kits online for the price of one kit at HTUSA, guess where my money is going? Oh and about the self cutting mat in the original post. Get one at Michaels or HL with the coupon.
  5. Michael Waltrip was a crappy driver and is a crappy team owner. I think the whole 'jet fuel' thing was the first race for MWR. MWR is a low class team. They need to employ third rate drivers like Danica and Montoya.
  6. If you read his mile long description with the 40,000 exclamation points you will notice that the prices are justified because he is providing the service of sorting through hundreds of model boxes to find these parts for you. He's doing all the hard work so apparently its a good deal overall because you don't have to do the leg work. Oh and he doesn't combine shipping. So your $39.99 roll bar and $34.99 bumper will cost you two shipping charges.
  7. Caterpillar should be thankful that people are making models of their stuff. So should freightliner. It's free advertising for Petes sake. Big companies like that don't need the free advertising. The model industry is pretty small on the grand scale of things. Getting 'advertising' isn't worth their time.
  8. Wasn't the W925 kit on the reissue list for 2003 but got cancelled due to some issue with the molds?
  9. The Trailmobile doubles were reissued 5 years ago.
  10. What colors did you use on the body? They look really good.
  11. Whichever is cheaper. Hobby Lobby or Michaels coupons are great and online is a good place to get kits if you can get free or bulk shipping if you buy a lot of stuff. Ebay sucks for shipping charges. What good is scoring a kit for $5 if it costs $12 to ship it? I don't support the local Hobbytown anymore since the 'owner' jacked the prices sky high. He even marks up the magazines!! Of course if you really want to waste money there is always jptoys on ebay.
  12. Why does everyone want a W900L or Pete 379 or 389? These are readily available as conversion kits. If a new truck kit is to be released wouldn't it be better to have something that is completely new that doesn't already have something similiar on the afternarket? Like a Cascadia or a Pete 387 or 587? Why would anyone kit a T2000? Its been out of production for a while. A T660 or a T700 would be a better option.
  13. More than one website shows the tractor version, not the wrecker version. The price is too low for it to be the wrecker.
  14. Tower Hobbies has changed the description and added a picture. Its just the tractor version apparently.
  15. If it retails for $90 it is probably just the tractor version. When the Peterbilt '353' was reissued it retailed around that price. The wrecker should be more in the $130-$140 range I'm guessing.
  16. R&C trucking was the company Clint Freeman did with another guy (can't remember his name) before Clint went on to form CFC. Some of the R&C stuff ended up in the CFC line. CFC went out of business in 2005. I think Mo'luminum also offered a version of this hood at one time as well.
  17. All the Volvos had problems. Bunk heaters were an issue and something to do with the steering due to the set back axle. I even heard of a dash falling into a guys lap while he was driving.
  18. Didnt Volvo quit producing these because they were a slow seller? I remember it being their venture into the 'conventional' market.
  19. A lot of people who ordered them never got them. The deelegant one
  20. Thats what a lot of people were saying about the Great Dane 53 footer until it came out. Then the griping began, everything from reefer to wheels was ripped apart.
  21. As long as there are model kits there will be debates and complaints about pricing. Remembering how much kits used to cost is like hearing your grandpa tell the story of how gas used to be 10 cents a gallon. People say they would gladly pay X amount for a new kit or a long lost reissue but when the time comes and the price is listed there are always complaints. Before the Lonestar was released someone posted about wanting the kit to have 2 frame lengths, 3 engines, day cab options and other things. Well then you are looking at a $300 kit. Yet sticker shock sets in at the $70 price tag. Not trying to start a war here. Just some observations. Another thing to remember is the ROG and Italeri kits are foreign kits. If you really want sticker shock check out what some of the curbside Tamiya kits go for. All that international shipping gets factured in to our cost.
  22. All kits are going up. Not just ROG. Italeri kits are sky high too. The cost of oil affects the cost of plastic. Along with inflation. No one seems to realize this when constantly griping about kit prices. Just a thought
