  1. Which kit are you referring to? They had two completely different sleepers.
  2. This has been talked to death already but those kits cost more because they have to be imported in.
  3. It is being reissued as a daycab this year and was reissued as the Longhauler about 3 years ago. They aren't hard to find in the $60-$70 range.
  4. Wait. Beanie Babies are worthless?
  5. Model Car Mountain is always high on their prices. Shop around a bit and they can be found for $25.
  6. Comcast!! Lets just say they are a bunch of liars/crooks as anyone who has had them already knows. But what really irked me is the nonstop phone calls and even a text to return their equipment. I cancelled their service the other day and then had to quickly leave for work to be gone over a week. Did not have time to return said equipment. Anyhow, long story short after I received a 'threatening' voicemail about being charged a 'equipment fee' (Comcast loves their fees, they will fee you to death) a couple days after cancelling I called and explained to the woman that I was out of town and would not be able to bring the equipment back until Thurs the 29th. She said not a problem I will make a note on your account that it will be back on Thurs. I get yet another reminder call on Monday and a text on Tues about their equipment and 'a fee'. Now I understand it is their equipment and I need to return it, I'm not trying to steal it. I just am not home to get it to you. But it irks me that even after talking to someone and arranging a drop off day that they are still calling me. Maybe they should move some of those people over to the customer service line so you aren't on hold for hours. (True story: I was on hold for 11/2 hours once and no one ever picked up). If I was thinking straight and not distracted by my anger when I talked to them last I would have told them I'll be by on Thursday between noon and 7pm and you will know I have arrived when your equipment comes crashing through the front window (ala little old lady in tire commercial). So to sum it up I hate Comcast. Rant over.
  7. Hey Bemidji is a legit city. College hockey put them on the map.
  8. Walmart? They have the worst scheduling system on the planet. 2 in the afternoon on a saturday: 3 cashiers. 8am on a monday morning: 9 cashiers.
  9. Thanks for the info!! I like old VW's but my knowledge of them is miniscule. I do have a few bug/van/truck kits that someday I want build. I guess I better study up!!
  10. I have 37 items but only 14 different items. Therefore, I qualify for the speedy line. I love that logic. People always try to cheat!!
  11. When I go to a store and an employees asks me if I want to use the self checkout because there is no waiting I say 'no thanks, I already have a job'.
  12. How much of this kit is parts that were in the Star Truk/Boonie Boss versions? Not a truck expert here but would like to know.
  13. If anyone enjoys paying above retail, I can direct you to the local hobbytown. That fool marks up the magazines!!!
  14. As far as bad covers go, does anyone remember when Madonna butchered 'American Pie'?
  15. Great cover by one of my favorite bands.
  16. If there are any alternative/screamo fans in here: Vampires Everywhere! Covering Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' and A Day To Remember covering Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone' If thats not your cup of tea: Counting Crows covering 'Friend of the devil' or Primus covering 'Devil went down to Georgia'.
  17. Some companies are just that way when it comes to their copyrights and trademarks. Caterpillar chooses to be on the extreme end of it. I can see both sides of the argument on this. Unfortunately , unless someone ponies up the fee (I don't even know if its a guarantee that CAT would approve a model kit) it looks like we will just have to do without. If a kit was to be produced that fee would then be passed on to the consumer. Kit pricing already starts a gripe fest, imagine the extra cost associated with an authentic licensed product. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, its just the day and age we live in. On the other hand, other companies don't seem to care.
  18. I think someday there will be hardly any brick and mortar stores, just places to pick up stuff you bought online. That goes for a lot of different buisnesses. Not just hobby shops. Best Buy and Barnes and Noble are doomed.
  19. Big companies like Goodyear and Cat don't need to get their name out there in the modeling community. These aren't small start-up companies trying to get their name out there to build a business. The model car hobby is a very small market. Its not worth compromising the trademark to sell maybe 25k kits. On the other hand, lets say the model companies pay the fees. That cost gets added to the kit. Then the kit price griping begins.
  20. Cat is no longer making highway engines.
  21. The 'free adverstising' aspect of it doesn't really hold water anymore. In this day and age of the internet and social media, there are way better ways for a company to get their name out there. In the grand scheme of things, getting your company name on a model kit tire or decal is miniscule. In the corporate world it is all about protecting what you have. I'm sure if you guys had a company you would be protective of your logos/trademarks as well.
  22. Spaulding Trading and Shipping used to sell the reflective tape. Got some from them a few years ago. How were the decals done?
  23. Ha! Thats why I quit shaving!! A new razor costs $10 and replacement blades cost $1200.
  24. Just the song 'Thunder Clatter' on Alt Nation on Sirius. Not a bad song. One of the better new bands out there.
