  1. Drew I have to agree with you. Alaska and the Keystone pipeline are definitely things that need to be looked at, and I honestly can't figure out why we are not taking advantage of them.
  2. I think you are right that the real reason is money Harry. It costs a lot of money up front to build these things, and that would directly raise the price of energy. There really has not been any cheap, effective alternatives for fossil fuels and until there is I don't think there will be much energy coming from anything else. I think people see these things and believe it is a step in the right direction, but once again they do not cast a thought for cost before they make their judgements.
  3. Ace for president! But seriously, this is one of the best discussions I have seen on here and I think it is a very important topic for the future. I honestly was beginning to think there was nobody else out there who put considerations into the indirect effects electric cars would have on society. Everyone sees something "green", and immediately thinks it is all good with no after effects, but in reality that is not true at all. Ace you have made a lot of great points and I have to say I have learned a tone just from this thread.
  4. Thanks for the response Ace, you put that out there in a way that was surprisingly understandable for us mortal builders. I do think people miss the point when they talk of "saving the planet" by driving an electric car, because like you said, it takes lots of fossil fuel to make the electricity anyway. I guess people just don't think of these things, kind of like when they tell us we can't ride our dirtbikes where we used to because of, wait for it, "soil erosion" Somehow a tire with nobbies less than an inch long is now the greatest enemy to our planet, give me a break.
  5. I don't really understand the whole electric car craze that has everyone going nuts right now. I think if my truck made no sound when it was driving I would lose my mind, not to mention you can't shift them. But speaking of that, what if you were to rig up a manual transmission behind one of the electric motors, then you could shift into higher gears in order to save electricity, similar to short-shifting to save gas? Just an idea I have been throwing around. The only real new motor technology I like is the ones that run on compressed air. It may be a bid far off right now, but you still get the sound of the engine like a gas motor and who knows, they might eventually get them to make a decent amount of power. Just some food for thought.
  6. Now that just might be the best idea I've heard all day!
  7. But it's at the bottom!!! How will I ever find it?
  8. My favorite thing to bbq is a nice steak. I usually marinade it and then baste it with sauce every time I turn it. I know everyone likes their food a bit different but this works really well for me.
  9. It's a bit hard to see with the blurry pictures, but it looks like a really nice build. Stance looks good and the shaved door handles give it a nice look.
  10. That's an awesome photo, really gives a cool perspective of how things were back in the day.
  11. I don't see anything wrong with putting pro-touring style wheels on as long as it is a pro-touring style build. Putting these on with everything else bone stock really doesn't make much sense to me though. As for putting 24+ inch rims on cars, that I just cannot understand.

    Dodge Viper ACR

Thanks TF, hopefully that V-10 will haul me to victory!
  13. That's awesome, great idea for a build.
  14. Very nice, your Viper came out awesome!
  15. I really wish I would have been alive to see him drive, but based on what I have seen he was an incredible driver. This video really does his skill justice, absolutely unbelievable.

    Dodge Viper ACR

Thanks for the kind words guys, it means a lot. sjordan2, the paint is testors One Coat Laquer Graphite Dust with wet look clear. I would highly recommend airbrushing the color coats, the paint tends to react if it goes on too thick while you are trying to lay down a nice wet coat.
  17. Just finished my ACR for the cannonball run in the community builds section. It is all box stock, I just added some carbon fiber and paint detail. Let me know what you think!
  18. I finally got the viper done! I'll post more pictures in the under glass section if you guys want to have a bit more to look at.

    Golden Nugget

Really nice build! but I have to go with the common though here and say that the original front rims look much better.
  20. I mainly ride dirtbikes and BMX as my other hobbies. I race pro hillclimbs (the ones with extended swingarms), which you can probably tell by my signature. I guess you can say that building models is my "safe, relaxing" hobby.
  21. Wow, that paint came out awesome, I don't think you could have picked a better color either.
  22. Don't worry, that is the number one sign of a poser in the MX world.
  23. Everyone's builds are looking really good so far, some stiff competition!
  24. Awesome job so far, it looks like it's really coming along nice.
