  1. Welcome to the forum Larry! This looks like a cool project. I'm looking forward to hopefully learn some new paint techniques. You have my curiosity and attention. And I'm 66 so you have me by a couple years. Sorry to hear of your ill health.
  2. I got this from a thrift shop sort of Bill. A lot of sellers aren't familiar with airbrushes and usually don't know what they have. With all I got with this it is one of the best brushes in my collection. Have a couple more coming in the next week. I'll send you pics once they get here. That's a lot of wire. You are going to many happy friends. Nice of you to do that.
  3. Today's mail. Iwata HP-B Plus. Looks to have never been used. Cardboard case cover and the instructions. Woot.
  4. When I've shipped models (haven't shipped just parts) I put "Plastic Scale Model Kit" as the contents. Don't know if this helps. "Plastic scale model kit parts" should be fairly descriptive. Then again...
  5. This is coming along nicely Bill. I'm glad to see you jumping over the hurdles and not shelving this project.
  6. I have another brush coming. Should have been here today but it was sent on a round about route. Planning to buy a third one tonight that I had made an offer on. I'll have to stop for a while after it though. I'll post pics when they get here.
  7. Great to hear from you and thank you Bill. You seemed to be off the forum for a while. I hope you are OK. The cup is a unique design. It is a nice brush. I had sent a PM to you about a month ago regarding a Holbein Y-1 brush I had gotten. Doesn't look like you've read it yet.

  9. This one came today. They are hard to find in the US. Devillbiss Super63. Should go well with my Aerograph Sprite and Sprite Major.
  10. Which one do you have? I have an Infinity CR Plus 2 in 1 that I haven't used yet and an Evolution Silverline. I used the Silverline on a project and it sprayed great. The Infinity is a beautiful AB.
  11. I did a bit more research myself. I edited my post with an additional link which should be more accurate. I have a couple different H&S ABs. They are nice.
  12. Typically they are called MAC valves . Iwata refers to theirs as a Micro Air Control valve. https://jimsmodels.wordpress.com/2016/08/18/the-mac-valve-and-how-it-works/ Harder & Steenback have one that attaches to their air inlet. Does the same thing. BTW, If you watched the video and you decide to remove the needle cap as he did it is very easy to get too close to what you are spraying and you run the risk of bending the needle tip. Not good.
  13. My advice on a compressor is to, first and foremost, invest in one with a tank. You will be better off in the long run. Also, no matter the size, get one that is quiet. It will be a lot less irritating and better for your hearing down the road. I have an ultra quiet California Air with an 8 gallon tank. Not that you need to buy one, it more than meets my needs for what I do. And a good respirator for what you intend to spray. If you plan to spray solvent based material, even more-so. You should also use one for water based paints.
  14. Although the Paasche H is a good beginner brush it is single action so it is limited to what it can do. You need to decide what will fit your needs. Some things you need to determine: Single action or double action. Siphon feed, gravity feed or side feed. Budget Your budget is a huge determining factor. If you plan to do detail work you will be better off with a double action brush. If you plan to do detail and paint the bodies with the same brush you should consider a "2 in 1" type AB set. A double action set that has something like a 0.2mm needle/nozzle for detail and a number 0.4mm needle nozzle for larger areas. You can use a Paasche H for most non detail model painting. You can paint the smaller parts with it and the bodies. I'd suggest to get the number 3 and number 5 needle/nozzle, just to have in case. Do you need a compressor or do you have one? I have separate airbrushes for solvents and for water base paint. Not that it's particularly crucial, I've always kept the two separate. Then again I have quite a few ABs.
  15. It was great trading with iamsuperdan. Excellent trader and I would not hesitate trading with him again. He's a "Super" guy to trade with.
  16. I had a great trade with RJ. Would trade with him again and recommend him as a good trader. Thank you RJ!
  17. I don't have a trigger style airbrush but I have a few spray guns. It is similar I guess Bill. Pulling the trigger back slightly gives air. Continuing to pull it back paint starts to spray. Like a spray gun the further back the trigger is pulled the more paint volume will spray. I'm fairly certain Grafo ABs are the same. I have a Grafo on my list LOL. The tool on the right unscrews most Japanese brand AB air valves. I got the parts from SG. It's a 0.2mm nozzle but needles were out of stock. Guess I'll have to place another order. I got the small cup piece just to have.
  18. Got this today. Hansa 281. Similar to my Gabbert in that you don't push the trigger down for air flow. You pull the lever back to begin air and the paint will start to spray as you continue to pull the trigger further back. I've seen this called a controlled double function. It means that the control lever is only pulled back in one direction, and air and paint mixing occurs automatically. Hansa offers this AB in black and that is the one I wanted. I found this one used at a good price so I bought it. I also picked up some parts for my H&S Infinity CR Plus, a couple needed tools and some plastic brushes to clean my ABs with.
  19. You might be right Brian. I may have jumped the gun thinking he may try to paint. LOL
  20. Does anyone want to guess the title of his next post? My guess is: "What is the best way to remove paint from a Peterbilt I painted badly"? Members will tell him it's been discussed on the forum and post the link but he will ignore it. Probably go to YouTube to see what works best there then send an email to whatever company he plans to purchase from an extensive list of questions they won't be able to answer. Just a hunch.
  21. Makes sense to ask for advice then put members on the ignore list. These posts have become laughable. You can do all the science you want, and math too, but until you actually paint something you won't know where you stand. Is there no thought for the distance you spray from, angle you spray at, or what PSI you have set? These to me would be more important. You can decant some paint from a spray bomb. If it comes out of the spray can nozzle it should spray out of the hallowed, best airbrush ever, Paasche H with either a number 3 or number 5 needle/nozzle. I'm pretty certain that his first attempt might not go as he has planned. Perhaps he will find another hobby.
  22. I've turned off most of my saved searches. Either I'd never get any, which is odd, or I'd get things with no relevance to what I am looking for. I have a way to search for what I want. I don't need their listings. Just my opinion, it seems eBay is now rife with sellers who go to estate/garage/ yard sales and buy stuff cheap thinking they can make a killing on it cause they've heard (insert your purchase of choice here) are worth a ton of money. I do like to find the ones who don't know their item is worth a lot more than they are asking. I jump on those. So many listing with virtually no description, just what is auto filled from the title, and "see pics as they are a part of the description". And many of those only have one or two (usually poor) pics.
  23. I'd suggest looking at SprayGunner. They seem to have the lowest prices, IMO. https://spraygunner.com/grex-tritium-tg3-pistol-grip-airbrush/ https://spraygunner.com/airbrush-kits/grex/tritium-series/grex-tritium-tg-micro-spray-gun-set-0-3mm/
  24. This turned out really well Mario. Good workmanship. I think I'll be getting me one of these kits.
  25. Well it seems to me that once you calculate the math and add in the science, after watching a YouTube video of how someone else does it, you should end up with a perfect paint job. It must not matter at what angle, how near or how far the airbrush is held from the piece being sprayed. Needle/nozzle adjustment must not be critical either. Practicing on the runner should dial it in.
