  1. Beautiful rail Ian! Nice photos too ?
  2. Welcome Ian and great looking build!
  3. We're maybe 10-15 miles south of Woodruff. My go-to Ace Hardware store is in Woodruff ?
  4. Thanks! We still have about 6" of snow left, down from like 4' in January ?
  5. Retired 4 years ago and right away built my log man-cave ? which has my shop and "home office".
  6. Good decision Dave. We get enough of that stuff elsewhere. I think the vast majority of us enjoy coming to forum for model reasons only. I know I do. Even more so now.
  7. One thing I don't have a shortage of is tools ?. I'm good with removing mold lines, it's just the softness of whatever material this is. Around the headlight buckets is really tight and just need to go a little at a time. Thanks!
  8. I'm finding that out now. This stuff is really soft and cleaning up mold lines takes patience ?
  9. I've begun a project of painting and detailing on this '56 Pontiac X-EL by dremel-ing away the hold down mushrooms and removing the headlights and glass. I'm now wondering if this is ABS or styrene. It seems softer than styrene and if it is ABS how will it hold up to any sanding I'll need to do? I might use a '56 Chevy Del Ray donor for the interior as it seems to fit decent, or cobble together something from my spares. Hate to steal the interior from an unbuilt Del Ray ?
  10. Great job!
  11. What I see I like! Welcome!
  12. Great idea. I regularly check ebay anyway and will keep an eye out. I have other projects to do ahead of this '56 so that will give me some time.
  13. Great idea! Good place to start. Thanks
  14. Didn't know about the repros. It's definitely that I guess. The plastic pins are mushroomed to hold the chassis. Still a nice piece, but I'd wanted to take it apart to repaint and detail.
  15. I recently picked up this nice '56 Pontiac Star Chief and was amazed at how straight it is. It's a Johan interior-less example and it's one of the non-styrene promos. Is not being warped after all these years a good sign that it won't in the future? My other question is in regards the lack of interior. Knowing it wouldn't be easy, would there be an interior from another kit that might get me close to fitting? I obviously don't expect it to be a replica of the Pontiac but at least something to fill the interior. Thanks
  16. Love it.... especially your choice of color!
  17. Masking can be tedious, but no worse than foiling in my opinion. I use strictly Tamiya tapes of different widths and carefully/slowly trim with either a new xacto blade or a scalpel. Kind of the opposite procedure from BMF ? Rattle can Spaz Stix looks great and it’s easy peasy.
  18. It all looks good to me. Candy turned out good too. Good job!
  19. Thanks for the tip Steve... I should have the Buick covers.
  20. Finished my rescue AMT '59 Bonneville. It was in decent condition when I found it but I spent alot of time on the body work and paint. Obviously tires/wheels/interior needed attention too. I've recently begun taping/masking for much, if not all, of the chrome trim rather than BMF. It's time consuming taping but after spraying with the rattle can Spaz Stix it turns out pretty good in my opinion. This Bonny had all external badging sanded off, along with the door handles. I had to improvise with stuff from the junk box and the Tamiya TS-59 Light Pearl Red is taking liberties with the GM Orchid color of '59. Interior is typical garish, tri-color of that era for Pontiac (and others). The older I get the more I enjoy curbside stuff as I no longer have the steadiness and dexterity to do engine detailing that I can't avoid doing even if I tell myself I'm NOT going to do it ?. Thanks for looking. Rich
  21. Welcome Gerard!
