So why has the price of model kits gone up?
CJ1971 replied to greymack's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why does everyone blame the Chinese anyway? It's not their fault they offer cheap manufacturing etc... If you want to blame someone/something, then blame ALL the companies taking their business to China. They're the ones who have sold us all out. They'll continue to do it too because we continue to buy their products, whatever they are. We feed the demand... The companies supply that demand. Next time you're looking for a scapegoat, stop & think about who really is to blame... -

There's some really dumb questions getting asked lately.... Either that or there's been too many people living in their 1950's bomb shelter & have just popped out into 2014.... ? -
You've seen it now... & it's got a Hemi ?? It's a Mopar guy's dream show too! Yeh mate I'm still at it... Took a long break but slowly back on the bench few days here/there ? If you don't build it... I might have to... Might take me awhile though ? Lol Cheers Cliffo

Awesome builds there Dale!! Lovin' 'em! Have you seen the Graveyard Carz hearse? I'm thinking that should be on your build list ?? Cheers Cliffo

Sweet Mopar, Krishna ??? Cheers Cliff

Ummm... I don't remember blood having "flakes" in it?

Almost hard to tell between the 1:1 & your build, Janos! Well done mate! ?? Cheers Cliff Phildaupho... Those wheels are Hobby Design... Try eBay ... Search Khan Hobby Design ?

Just thought I'd let you know... There's a nice feature on the Mod-Top Cuda in the May issue of Musclecar Review (featuring/celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Hemi). I'm down in Australia so this issue only just got here Cheers

Some good work you're doing on these 'cudas ? but can I ask, are you making them factory correct because if you are then these chassis shouldn't be painted ( fully ) in body colour. All Mopar chassis were primered & had body colour over spray along the sides & the rear wheel tubs were painted with black protective type paint ?? Cheers

Looks like the GTA's stance is spot on Matt ? When I get a chance I'll throw up a pic or 2 of the mesh for the SV, mate ?? Cheers Cliff- 20 replies

G'day Matt ... Yeh mate I always enjoy your builds, always a pleasure to see your great work. As for Lambos being In-your-face... I agree, they are the new muscle cars & deserve those "high-impact" colours ?? I was really just testing out the Audi Teak Brown on the Gallardo & since it laid down nice & smooth, along with the clear coats, I decided to leave it that way... ? Hence it does need something ? to give it that "impact" & I reckon some Alcad Copper for the wheels will have that effect ? Yeh I remember your Aventador... Great trick work on the "hot" discs ?? I'm pretty sure mine's going to wind up in a nice "high impact" green or blue ? Seems you're right about the SV... Although there seems to be ( from a distance ) liberal use of CF, my reference pics say what your's do... Not really ? As for the PE for the SV... Aoshima's set is actually quite useful & easy/basic. The PE discs just go on top of the kit supplied plastic ones & the other PE is mostly mesh for all the vents, front/rear. It's quite good. I've already attached them to the necessary parts ? I can snap a pic or 2 & post it here if you'd like to see? Cheers Cliff- 20 replies

CJ1971 replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Ahhhhhh Matt... You've made my life a little easier this week... I've got the SV, along with 2 of his bros ( Gallardo/Aventador ), on my bench at the moment! ? I was tossing up colour options on the SV & Aventador & I was deciding on a very similar yellow ( Giallo Evros, also Zero paints ) for my SV. Since you've gone with yellow I'm now only tossing up between White, Arancio Argos or Black... Colour decisions suck! ?? Lol Love following your builds & now I can "cheat" since you're way ahead in the build progress ? Have you got/will you be using the PE Set ( Aoshima's ) for the SV? I have/am.. Just did most of it for all the rear/front body parts. As a side , I downloaded a tonne of quality pics of a stock SV, for reference detailing, if you're in need ( probably not knowing you ?? ) I'm interested to see if you'll be doing your usual "CF " paint jobs or if you're going with decaling instead? Oops... Great work on both do far... Always a pleasure viewing your builds mate ? Cheers Cliff ? Here's a sneak-peak at my Gallardo, as it's the only 1 I've got in paint so far. I chose an Audi Teak Brown... I'd like your opinion on whether it was a cool colour choice?? I'm thinking about doing the wheel centres in Alcad Copper, to compliment the brown... What do you think?- 20 replies

No probs... Just a matter of squinting ? ??
-
? Sure looks like the Mod-Top 1:1 DOES indeed have the chrome strip above the doors...
-
Nice 'cudas dude ? How about trying some Alcad light-sheen, to deal the mod-top? Should give you the security it won't flake & the light sheen the vinyl top should have ? Cheers Cliff

Shouldn't this topic be in the General section, as nothing is actually on-the-workbench?

Superb Briz! Just.... Superb! ?? Cheers Cliff ?

Is This For Real?
CJ1971 replied to Dale W. Verts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd rather have an Aston Martin 1-77, Bugatti Veyron, F12 Berlinetta, La Ferrari, P1, Porsche 918 & a few Hemi Mopars for my $6.5 Million ?? No Vette is worth $6.5. Simple. -
It's all freehand... Makes it even more stunning ??? Briz... Looks ?? Sharp now bro!
