Cheers!

Yeah I can finish a build relatively quickly, it's called having nothing better to do but time is now gonna be slightly occupied! For the buttons I use a very sharpened toothpick, dab the end of it very very slightly against the paint that sticks to the lid of the tamiya acrylic tubs, and just barely touch the button. Works every time

Haha Juan, nope, just turning 16 in a month's time. And in case you guys thought I'd given this up to work on my Mk.2... Painting the body tomorrow. Cheers

That 88-C is gorgeous! There's pics up of it on my thread about first car in the General section

I've just bought a 1:1 scale Golf Mk2 GTI project, my time is a little occupied at the minute!

And now.. the bad bits. The documentation of the build. Enough hiding all the shame! First is the interior. I have vacuumed and cleaned it all out, so this is the best it'll get. It's not bad, it needs a new drivers seat at the very least. I plan on getting a different style wheel (nothing boy racy, there's just another Volkswagen steering wheel from either the 16V or the Mk.1 Golf, I can't remember which, that I really like), a radio, new driver side mat and replacing the golf ball shifter with a new one as the numbers aren't on this one anymore. I plan on making it fairly factory fresh (I'm keeping that wheel for when I sell it!) as it won't cost or take much to do so and it'll be worth a lot more. The boot's open, that's the parcel shelf with the holes for speakers. Now, really it's pointless showing this as I've already got a brand spanking new boot with the car that just needs painted in the correct colour, but hey this is how I got the car. A common place for them to go, around where the numberplate should be. Hole goes straight into the boot. Lovely. The vinyl trim is coming off on this side. As you can see the pics were taken pre-wash! The grill at this point was ill-fitting, although as you can see in the pics I just posted I've mostly fixed this. This pic doesn't show it, but this door is bad. The paint's faded and its rusted at the bottom, some of it has been touched over but you can really see it up close. Considering they're so cheap, I'm just buying a new door. The window seals are damaged and have been botchily repaired. Thankfully it did serve it's purpose and the problem was tackled early on - the interior is fine. And of course, the bumpers are wrong. Being an '89 car, it should have the small bumpers, like Revell's model kit. So I'll be sorting that too. Overall, it's not TOO much to take on for a first project, and I'm sure I'll manage. It's a long road, but I've plenty of time! Thanks for readin'

Thanks everyone! All washed today, so I can get a fair few of what I'm working with. Not toooo shabby. Really shows how bad that driver door is though. I'll be getting a new one, they're fairly cheap. It's at a bad angle to take pics of the back, but when it gets moved onto solid ground I'll show you the rear. It ain't great, but I got a brand new bootlid that just needs painted in the Tornado Red. Cheers!

Thank you all for the lovely comments! John - That comment about photos of me WITH it - Thank you for that. I've never looked on things like that before. It'd be nice to look back on photos 50 years from now like my parents do and see myself too. And no, I've had that shirt for years! Always been a fan of Mk1/2 Golfs Thanks again, I really didn't expect such a repsonse!

It's a big thing, is the first car. And, as any of you that looked at my Mk.2 Golf build know, I know what I wanted. A Mk.2 Golf, in Tornado Red. And after a long time of scouring the internet, finally I found one that was cheap. And it wasn't just a Mk.2 Golf. It was a GTI. A godsend, surely. We picked it up today, and I'm in love. It's a project car and it needs work, but I've another year before I'm legally allowed to get a licence. I plan on having it pristine by then. Won't be long! I'll be documenting the restoration the whole way through, I'll keep you guys posted. I'll take some more pics tomorrow showing all the bad points. I'm still working on a name. I'm thinking Rapid Roy after a favourite Croce tune of mine. 15 and I've got my first 1:1 scale restoration on the go. Happy times ahead!!

That thing is awesome. Once I'm old enough to move outta my parents' house and venture into the big world, I'm sure as hell putting something like that in a model room.

That is one GORGEOUS engine, I love it. Great work by everyone so far! I was in my LHS to get some paints I needed.. Saw a certain gem in there that I couldn't pass up, and fits into this category nicely. Gonna see about aftermarket Castrol decals - After building this kit before and they went horribly wrong, I'm gonna look for an alternative. And if not, I'll try to do the Castrol anyway.

First time in about two years I've sat and tried to draw something. So here's a Superbird with a lot of artistic licensing. Wheels could do with some work!

1) Was your introduction to modeling at home? 'twas. 2) From whom? My dad. 3) What kind of models (cars, planes, trains, etc)? Cars! Although he builds all sorts, but cars and bikes are all I care for. 4) What did the person who introduced you to modeling do for a living ? He's a teacher at my high school. 5) How old were you? I was 13 when I decided to start for real. 6) About what year was your introduction? Not sure, I think it was 2011.

Since the forum was having a bit of a glitch yesterday I decided to knuckle down and get some work done on this thing. Since the body is in primer at the school and I won't get painting it Calsonic blue until next Wednesday, I've plenty of time to work on making the best interior I can... Surely I should be using the long weekend to revise for my History exam but hey who cares It's now a rolling chassis... Also, this is the first time Kevlar decals have worked perfectly for me, only took over a year! Lots of set sol was used, and I've decided if you cut it into 3 sections (sides, middle), it's far easier to do. So currently, I'm working on this center console. Also this kit came with two wheels (you can see which I'm using). If there's one thing I love to have, it's steering wheels!

Sure.. That works for me!

Looks good! I think your prancing horse on the wheel is upside down

Thanks Harry... impatience got the better of me this time. Cheers Larry! I'd kill to get to be in a Superbird. Funnily enough they aren't a common sight in Ireland..

Thanks Marty, much appreciated!
