Here I found another one from the past : built ca. 1985 = many mistakes (NO internet, no reference pics) - will also see some kind of restoration/correction! -

Hey KT, aggressive looking Freightliner and gorgeous Allied KW - by the way, do you see drom box trucks still on the road or is that a thing fom the past? I hope that there is some orange paint left - I too would like to paint some of my truck in that color!!! -

Ideas for mpc's Mack DM600

Dan, it's more than 25 years now, but as far as I can remember, there were no big issues as early ERTL kits went together very well. I don't know about the reissue, but my version had lots and lots of chrome parts, far more than a workhorse would ever have. -

I don't know if the original ever existed, but in the late 80's I resprayed my (then ERTL) DM600, swapped dump body, plow and salt spreader from amt's Ford and voilà (decals are also from the Ford snow-plow). Spare wheel is from Italeri. -

Certainly not my best truck but one of those few which might come away without a bigger restoration though the cab/hood/fender/bumper combination was brush-painted (!) with Humbrol enamels, built over 30 years ago (most of my built-ups will be redone in the future), looks like a rather new truck which saw lots of mud in its first working days... This should be reissued together with the IH Cabovers! -
First Gear also made very nice trucks - I have bought myself 2 Mack B61 from ebay USA, a tractor and a wrecker with a Holmes twin boom - very heavy diecast models with good details (photo-etched exhaust shield for the tractor, metal chains for the wrecker, see pics) - hood ornaments and rear-view mirrors are still in the boxes.

looks quite good -I foundone on the Internet for about 19,00 $, but shipping for about 44,00 $ !!!

superb models, Matt - I especially like the Stirling Moss-driven Rob Walker 250 SWB - is it the Gunze hi-tech kit?

Nice car with a beautiful color - there are way too many red Ferraris around - especially newer models!

You did it - and you did it very well! I remember this kit (the GMC General, which is the same) caused me neverending troubles and had several issues when I built mine almost 30 years ago. Quite a challenge to pick this one as your first truck, but you have succeeded - well done! -
Skip, you are definitely right - until then the old politoys 1/25 has to fill the gap: I know it has some errors, but altogether it is not bad considering its age (ca. 1969/1970) and that it is intended to be a toy, With some careful detailing and repainting one can turn it into a nice unique model (also on my to-do-list)

Big mistake in the kit: the rear deck should be hinged to the roof section - only the yellow MkIV of McLaren/Donohue hat it hinged that way, lost the rear on the track and some time in the pits where the mechanics re-fixed it using lots of tape and Carroll Shelby's expensive leather belt (they took 4th place) here is another IMC-kit: the infamous J-Car which cost Ken Miles' life in 1966: I bought this as a glue bomb in 1986 and tried some kind of "restoration" (decals missing, wrong color - no Internet back then) - anyway: this is the predecessor of the victorious Mk IV - it shows also big gaps with doors and rear deck but had less issues than the MkIV above.

Here is mine, built in the mid 80's - I still can remember several issues: most of all ill-fitting body panels (it would be better not to close the rear deck, the front hood does not fit, either), the red paint shines through the white number circles and stripes and the tires have not stood the test of time - they tear apart radially from the inside. Impossible to take pictures and hide those issues - have a look yourself! All in all, it looks similar to the real thing but I certainly would not recommend it unless you want it because of some significance in model kit history.
