  1. One of the best-looking truck models I have ever seen - outstanding!!!
  2. Fantastic beverage truck - leaves me speechless. When I see such gems, I start thinking about turning to another hobby instead of model building....
  3. You did it - and you did it very well! I remember this kit (the GMC General, which is the same) caused me neverending troubles and had several issues when I built mine almost 30 years ago. Quite a challenge to pick this one as your first truck, but you have succeeded - well done!
  4. absolutely fabulous - the truck shines and glitters, is perfectly painted and built! And the trailer ? fantastic weathering, one can almost smell the pigs...
  5. Absolutely gorgous Freightliner!!! Would certainly stand out at any ATHS show - wow!!! Superb paint job - I can't wait to see this one hooked to a livestock trailer....
  6. Very cool looking fleet tanker/truck combination. Though I never liked the look of amt's GMC Astro/Chevy Titan cabovers, this one comes really great - due to your modifications and that special and authetnic '70's look - wonderful!!!
  7. Skip, you are definitely right - until then the old politoys 1/25 has to fill the gap: I know it has some errors, but altogether it is not bad considering its age (ca. 1969/1970) and that it is intended to be a toy, With some careful detailing and repainting one can turn it into a nice unique model (also on my to-do-list)
  8. Big mistake in the kit: the rear deck should be hinged to the roof section - only the yellow MkIV of McLaren/Donohue hat it hinged that way, lost the rear on the track and some time in the pits where the mechanics re-fixed it using lots of tape and Carroll Shelby's expensive leather belt (they took 4th place) here is another IMC-kit: the infamous J-Car which cost Ken Miles' life in 1966: I bought this as a glue bomb in 1986 and tried some kind of "restoration" (decals missing, wrong color - no Internet back then) - anyway: this is the predecessor of the victorious Mk IV - it shows also big gaps with doors and rear deck but had less issues than the MkIV above.
  9. Here is mine, built in the mid 80's - I still can remember several issues: most of all ill-fitting body panels (it would be better not to close the rear deck, the front hood does not fit, either), the red paint shines through the white number circles and stripes and the tires have not stood the test of time - they tear apart radially from the inside. Impossible to take pictures and hide those issues - have a look yourself! All in all, it looks similar to the real thing but I certainly would not recommend it unless you want it because of some significance in model kit history. 10. childhood memories com alive! I also had the unique Alvis Stalwart from Matchbox way back in the mid-sixties... Great model!
  11. Exactly what you say: the Arii kit is a slot car with a (Generic) chassis and interior: I have the Arii Ford GT, the Chaparral 2C and the Porsche 906/Carrera 6 - all have the VERY SAME interior and chassis!
  12. Someday I will restore/rebuild mine to look similar like yours. I have built it with the 1976 stars and stripes decoration and much too much chrome...
  13. The trailer decals come from Italeri's 48-foot-reefer trailer
  14. The Ford GT40 is the most beautiful sports car racer ever - at least in my opinion. (Follow-ups are Ferrari P4, Chaparral 2 F, Porsche 917, Porsche 906, Ferrari 250 LM)
  15. Great conversion - still a missing gap in plastic kits - I will try to convert Fabbri/Quattroruote's 1/24 Escort Mk1 to a rally version similar to yours.
  16. This is a mind-blowing truck model! Totally amazing!!
  17. Customer service from Revell Germany (my own experience): Mercedes Benz SLS AMG had the wrong tires (dimension was not fitting the wheels) - I went back to my hobby shop and showed them this, we opened the 2 other kits that he still had on stock - they also had the wrong wheels (may be a whole bunch had them - talk about quality control!) RoG asks you to send them the original invoice of the hobby shop where you bought the kit, cut out a piece of cardboard from the box (with the pincode on it) and a part/copy of the instructions where you have to mark for them the missing or damaged part. Now put all these things together in one envelope and send it to Revell Germany at your cost. Then patience is asked for: after 4 or 5 weeks you will receive a small package or envelope with the missing parts.... Last year I bought their new Mini - and the tires were totally absent! The same procedure is waiting ahead - at least I have still the bill from the dealer. Maybe I just forget it and pirate wheels/tires from one of my Tamiya Minis.
  18. For a first series Renault 4 (1961-1967) there is still the diecast option:
  19. Very nice model of a great car !!!
  20. Though not my preferred era, this 70's JoHan snap kits do look very accurate - at least from the outside - even if they are very simple. Here is my '72 Ford Gran Torino Sport (my only JoHan snap kit), wheels and tires come from amt, otherwise it is OOB:
  21. Just now, they have again 18 pc. for sale: Price has risen from 89,95 to 99,98 ! (Talk about supply and demand...) Restzeit: 21T 18Std (19. Feb. 2014 10:16:44 MEZ) Stückzahl: 18 verfügbar / 46 verkauft 18 available/46 sold Preis:EUR 99,98 (inkl. MwSt.) Sofort-Kaufen 111 Beobachter
  22. I built mine in 1986, and the tires show no deteriation yet.
  23. Thanks, this was the very first issue that had the 2-part hard plastic tires, but I built it using the tires from another semi that already had the rubber tires. I had to hand-paint/draw the Freightliner logos back then, because they were NOT on the decal sheet (probably licensing issues like with the Mack Superliner)
  24. Here is my original KW Aerodyne issue built in 1984: pics have been taken in 2005, but tires look the same today, although I have not exposed it to the sun, but stored it in a shady, half-dark room.
