  1. Pierre, I would go on with the Otaki first and keep the Airfix up for later. You could build them in 2 different liveries : a white works car and the green Gösser Beer Schnitzer team car for instance. I would not have guessed that there are such differences in dimensions...
  2. This neglected interior looks so real, Jason - simply unbelievable : especially the worn leather seats!
  3. Thanks, Mark - we will see what the final result will look like - now I'm working on some clear parts and collecting the required decals .
  4. Do you mean this one ? Got it from ebay some years ago very cheap - it is missing the windshield and one wheel. Jack modeling has awesome spoke wheels (and period Dunlop racing tires) - I know, in 1956 Ferrari used Englebert tires but these would certainly pimp the model up .
  5. Matt, check Jason's wheel sets (he has a set for the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTAm available, which looks very similar) : https://www.ebay.de/itm/185976415183?itmmeta=01J80QWZCHTDHKJRX3GQXN46BS&hash=item2b4d0ee3cf:g:JU8AAOSwexlkzOXS
  6. Dave, not all the 33 stradales were red - one single car had been painted blue at the factory (shown in my 1992 book "Alfa Romeo street cars since 1950") - here are the pics - a street-legal race car: Could be possible that it has been restored in the meantime and repainted red like all the others... Here is my photo of the original 1967 prototype (shot in November 1983/ Niki Lauda racing car show, Vienna):
  7. Rich, 18 chassis were built in 1967/68 - 1 prototype and about 12 "stradale", the remaining chassis were used for several dream cars like the Carabo, Coupé 33/2 Stradale, Cuneo, and Iguana among others. Here is the original prototype:
  8. I saw the original prototype (with 4 headlights) at the Niki Lauda Racing car show ca. 1983 in Vienna (must have a color print somewhere...)
  9. Interesting method, Rich - has its advantages.
  10. Wow, Rich - I will certainly follow this one - I guess you will hit the 1000 in 5 years.
  11. Thank you, my friends - I will try my best with this one but it won't come any close to the great models you are creating.
  12. Finally – ready for painting. After endless seemingly days of sanding and correcting small issues – again applying putty and sanding and priming over and over I finally give up and let it be. Several mishaps occurred when trying to make things better, so sometimes they came out worse. The hardest part was the concave deepening in front of the rear spoiler: it was uneven and had to be redone 3 or 4 times till I found it acceptable. The NACA ducts also have been reworked several times and crumbled out when reshaping them. A cut in the nose had to be filled and a small piece of the rear spoiler’s left corner broke off which was replaced and blended in again - replacing the whole rear spoiler would have destroyed almost everything). I certainly cannot see any putty for a long time ! It may not be perfect, but I cannot do better, so I called it a day...
  13. Charlie - this is for me kind of extraterrestrial model building - in the class of Antonietti/Bossac or Wingrove - working with metal like the Italian carozziere of the 50/60's or the French coachbuilders of the 30's. (I'm already happy when I can handle styrene and putty for achieving acceptable results)
  14. Cortinas, Galaxies, Cobras, Ferraris, Jaguars, Astons, Healeys and so on in wild racing action- enjoy! Turn up the volume and put on your headphones !
  15. Beautiful GTO - these EM kits are quite a challenge to build, but definitely worth it - a rewarding experience in any case.
  16. Very impressive replica of Auriol's championship ride!
  17. Very nice, Mark - in that small scale !!!
  18. This is the 1974 "Early Iron Series" release of an old Monogram kit - built OOB (I only left off the sides of the hood (kit was molded in red)
  19. Excellent - looking workhorse, Tom !
  20. Brilliant, Pierre - major surgery again!
  21. this looks very good, Dave, and quick, too - while I am struggling with one kit, you have almost done 2 racers in the same time.
  22. Charles, you could easily make a tutorial about realistic weathering/wear - the result is plastic looking like REAL metal !
  23. Compared with Stirlings "722" SLR, the car of Fangio looks almost if it was before and not after the race (no visible dents here on car "658") !
  24. Absolutely excellent model, Ken - fantastic (I followed your WIP) !
  25. Thanks, Bruce. Then it must have been Tamiya's big Lola T70 Coupe with Bridgestone on the sidewall.
