  1. Interesting method, Rich - has its advantages.
  2. Wow, Rich - I will certainly follow this one - I guess you will hit the 1000 in 5 years.
  3. Thank you, my friends - I will try my best with this one but it won't come any close to the great models you are creating.
  4. Finally – ready for painting. After endless seemingly days of sanding and correcting small issues – again applying putty and sanding and priming over and over I finally give up and let it be. Several mishaps occurred when trying to make things better, so sometimes they came out worse. The hardest part was the concave deepening in front of the rear spoiler: it was uneven and had to be redone 3 or 4 times till I found it acceptable. The NACA ducts also have been reworked several times and crumbled out when reshaping them. A cut in the nose had to be filled and a small piece of the rear spoiler’s left corner broke off which was replaced and blended in again - replacing the whole rear spoiler would have destroyed almost everything). I certainly cannot see any putty for a long time ! It may not be perfect, but I cannot do better, so I called it a day...
  5. Charlie - this is for me kind of extraterrestrial model building - in the class of Antonietti/Bossac or Wingrove - working with metal like the Italian carozziere of the 50/60's or the French coachbuilders of the 30's. (I'm already happy when I can handle styrene and putty for achieving acceptable results)
  6. Cortinas, Galaxies, Cobras, Ferraris, Jaguars, Astons, Healeys and so on in wild racing action- enjoy! Turn up the volume and put on your headphones !
  7. Beautiful GTO - these EM kits are quite a challenge to build, but definitely worth it - a rewarding experience in any case.
  8. Very impressive replica of Auriol's championship ride!
  9. Very nice, Mark - in that small scale !!!
  10. This is the 1974 "Early Iron Series" release of an old Monogram kit - built OOB (I only left off the sides of the hood (kit was molded in red)
  11. Excellent - looking workhorse, Tom !
  12. Brilliant, Pierre - major surgery again!
  13. this looks very good, Dave, and quick, too - while I am struggling with one kit, you have almost done 2 racers in the same time.
  14. Charles, you could easily make a tutorial about realistic weathering/wear - the result is plastic looking like REAL metal !
  15. Compared with Stirlings "722" SLR, the car of Fangio looks almost if it was before and not after the race (no visible dents here on car "658") !
  16. Absolutely excellent model, Ken - fantastic (I followed your WIP) !
  17. Thanks, Bruce. Then it must have been Tamiya's big Lola T70 Coupe with Bridgestone on the sidewall.
  18. Sorry, Pierre - I thought these kits were the same. Anyway, it is a very beautiful racecar, also the first version from ca. 1973 without those side-pods:
  19. Bruce, these wheels and tires look great ! Did the original kit have "Bridgestone" on the sidewalls (I got a gluebomb some years ago and I think those were the kit's tires, IIRC)?
  20. Super, Pierre - one of the best-looking touring cars ever ! This is going to be great and something to follow! (I had the Arii kit and sold it again - I'm sure it comes from the same molds as your Airfix kit and its proportions were way off)
  21. You turned a crude die-cast into a pretty model, Janos !
  22. Been there, done that : as Noel said: Acrylics over enamel is an absolute NO GO (40 yrs. ago, Humbrol or Revell enamels with Duplicolor acryl overspray => result: a total mess, removing the paint and repainting everything again was unavoidable). Clear enamel turns into an ugly tan/yellow color over time. My solution: either both acrylics or both Tamiyas (I've got no airbrush), enamels only for brush-painting small parts.
  23. Very nice model, Tim. Good that Revell's issue is molded in white, not red like Fujimi's original - I will use the Fujimi issue for the Le Mans version and hope it will come out as good as yours.
