Thanks, Larry - in my eyes the weathering failed - it didn't come out as I wanted. -

1963 Chrysler Turbine car - JoHan's best ?
1959scudetto replied to 1959scudetto's topic in Model Cars
Thank you, Lee ! Well, it is no clearcoated plastic: it was primered, sprayed from the rattle-can and then clearcoated. -
In 1985 or 86 I built the Turbine (the copper/orange metallic color spray that I had in my stash looked almost correct for this one) I spray-painted the inside (floor got a matte clear brush-over) - the outside got an additional clearcoat. Chrome-trim is only silver paint - will be foiled some time in the future (wet-sanding and polishing would have been good, too). The vinyl-roof is brush-painted. The wheel covers have been painted with Tamiya clear orange; photos are from 2005 and 2008. This is by far the most detailed JoHan kit I ever laid my hands on.

Thank you, Brian - this was a variety to all the semi-trucks ! -
Thank you, Tom - I cought this "Special interest version" a few years before it has been reissued again. Thanks, Hector - the doors work, but I keep them closed all the time.

Thanks, Doug ! Thank you, Chris - I would build it differently today - inspired by several models here on the forum - but I will keep this one as it is. -

Looks good, Brian - especially the windshield wipers that replaced those oversize kit parts ( I intend to do the same with mine). -
Very nice, Rich - which interior did you use (the X-EL promos at least didn't have one) ?

built in 1984, out-of-the-box, cab/hood brush-painted, dumper body sprayed with Revell matte grey enamel . My very first try on weathering a vehicle (using Revell matte light brown and matte clear from the spray-can) lets it look like a brand-new truck after its first working day on a muddy construction site... (At least this is one of the few that has survived several moves undamaged...)

Absolutely outstanding workmanship, David - I would have thought that this conversion was a factory stock model! -
Thank you, Sam ! Thank you, Patrick - Batman's choice for Saturday night cruising? Thanks, Chris !

Looks good Warren - very pleasing color combination - inspires me! -
Thank you, Dennis !

Thanks for the compliments, Rusty. Dark metallic green with turquoise and white interior sounds like a great combination. On my next build, I will fill the sink marks and drill 4 holes into the front so that I can make recessed headlights (as with the real car). Thanks, Lee !

My thoughts, exactly - it looks like fresh from the factory - wonderful model with nicely blended-in bodyparts from different vehicles !
