Mel Tormei's son Steve March Tormei has a local daily radio program where I live & one day he said his dad built WWII plane models as a hobby. Not really in the movies but I found it interesting.

No, that was a different one. In this episode he is in a courtroom & the magistrate is very Nazi like & claims that the "State" has proven that books are no longer needed. It was on tv just yesterday during Sci Fi channel's Twilight Zone marathon.

It kind of reminds me of that episode of "Twilight Zone" where Burgess Meredith is a librarian & the "State" decides he is obsolete. George Orwell's "1984" should be required reading in todays schools. JMO

Cosby did an album called "200 MPH" about this very car. I also recall an article in Road & Track at the time about these 2 cars. Pretty impressive HP even by today's standards.

Beautiful Build. Love the stance. One thing bothers me though. I've seen this many times before, but the class designation seems to be for a supercharged car. If I'm not mistaken, that's what the "S" stands for. Am I wrong on this?

A Coupe/Sedan/Delivery ? I think it's some kind of brougham type of body. Maybe it's factory or a custom one off. I dont know enuf about old Fords of the period. I just know that I like it. I also like the old big truck in the background. Looks like a Chebby.

Saw a Zimmer in a parking lot today with California plates & an extention cord going to it. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. Looks kind of like an Excaliber.

A real car is made up of many individual parts & naturally each one has it's own color & texture. I've found that the easiest way to detail a model is with paint. On a typical chassis I may use up to a dozen different colors to emphasize these different components. Steering linkage, shocks, springs, traction bars, driveshaft, axles, etc can all be highlighted with some simple color variation. With todays metalizer finishes this is much easier than you might think. It all depends on how much time you want to put into a project. The same holds true for all the subassemblies. Engines will really pop if you pick out the various colors of the parts that make one up.

When I was a kid my uncle Dave lived next door & he raced an AH Bugeye Sprite. He would drive my aunt crazy by rebuilding his motors on the kitchen table every winter & use up all her cupcake pans to hold various parts (nuts, bolts, springs, etc). He took my cousins & I to Elkhart Lake when the track first opened back in the early '60s & I have been going back there every year since. I still recall the time he decided to use aircraft fuel during practice at the June Sprints. The ensuing fire became the topic of conversation at family gatherings for years after.

I compared the '32 sedan body to the one in the Switchers kit & there is a definite chop to the top. Only about a scale 2" or so.

I've been thinking of building this.

Not to change the subject, but I have run unto this AMT/MPC issue myself. I purchased a "Switchers" '32 ford sedan/phaeton on Ebay that I'm currently working on that has no company ID on the outside of the box. The instructions mention AMT & Fun Dimensions (I think) but the underside of the interior is marked MPC. Who's tooling is this? Please move this if I'm not posting it where it belongs.

I admit I like the smell of Squadron green filler putty. As far as the real world goes, nothing beats the aroma of 110 octane race fuel.
