  1. Picture on left taken of the kit from well above the roofline and to the side of the fender. Pic of real truck on right taken from nearly bumper level and more to the front of the truck than the left pic. Either way, looks more than close enough to me. Still buying it.
  2. I checked RPP's site, where are you seeing this? I can't find it for sale on their site anywhere.
  3. I like the generic decals, makes it look more small town to me. Also makes it look more like a custom kit and not something I bought premade in a store. IMHO I'll have to grab this one up. I see Tower has it on order, with their coupon codes, makes it pretty sweet.
  4. Wanted it before and want it even more now. Thanks!
  5. That's very cool. And it all screws together, which will be way easier for kids than gluing.
  6. $35 minus 40% is $21. Does Hobby Lobby by you carry any Moebius stuff? The one by me has never had any.
  7. Got mine. The chrome on the hubcaps is jacked up, missing on half of them. Bummer.
  8. Our local shop closed after 50 years in business this November. It was the typical 60s hobby shop in layout and service. A place where everyone could hang out, yet it was run cleanly, professionally and always had what you needed or could get it quickly. Not because business was bad, we have a good hobby community here and clubs, but because the owners were well into their 70s and were sick of working weekends at that age. And who could blame them? That's a long time to sling RC kits, trains, rockets and plastic models. While it was awesome to buy kits and paint at 80% off, it was and is sad to not have them around anymore. We have a Hobby Lobby but it's no where near the same. We also have one other local hobby shop but the place is so mom and pop that it's more like walking into someone's living room. Clutterred, overpriced and pretty unprofessional service. I think a private owned hobby shop is totally viable even today, but it's a lot of work. Too many people go get a loan from the SBA and then think the world owes them a living. They open bankers hours (close at 1pm on weekends, that kind of stuff), have horrible customer service (let's be honest, a huge amount of modelers have no business talking to the public, too socially inept) and only stock what they personally like meaning 90% of their customer base is left out. You'll never succeed like that.
  9. Almost everything they sell I've been able to find the same item rebranded elsewhere for less money. Especially their mini power tools and acessories. Example 1: http://www.micromark.com/allwin-benchtop-mini-disk-and-belt-sander,9620.html http://www.harborfreight.com/1-belt-and-5-disc-combination-sander-69033.html Example 2: http://www.micromark.com/extra-blade-for-84656-mini-miter-and-cut-off-saw,9641.html On this one it's so blatant they even use a finger to cover the part number on the blade in their pic. http://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of-3-2-inch-cut-off-wheels-42805.html
  10. Top notch.
  11. Thanks for your reply. You do make some very good points.
  12. We can agree to disagree on this. CarFax is well known for being extremely innacurate on serious issues for neweer cars, not just older cars. If you disagree, that's cool, we don't all have to have the same opinion. Continue using it as you like it and trust it. There is a reason they had to change a LOT of the wording on their commercials and their paperwork to avoid getting involved in massive class action lawsuits. Anyone can do a title history of a car through the State. They'll give that to you without issue. No need to pay CarFax and their third party innacurate system. The problem is that through good marketing people think it's a definitive and reliable source. Luckily your experiences have been different. Probably from dealerships that reported every little thing. Many many many do not, and that's the issue. Neither do garage mechanics or any regular shop that doesn't buy into the CarFax system and doesn't want to spend time on a loss loss situation by reporting damages and repairs to cars they may have to resell later. Not every police dept reports either. Even insurance companies don't report things all the time. Have a great night guys. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/trust-car-fox-hidden-camera-shows-clean-carfax/story?id=18731208 http://www.autopi.com/carfaxCBS.html http://www.americanownews.com/story/16984557/are-carfax-reports-reliable I stopped at posting three independent articles. Search turned up a plethora of investigations proving my point.
  13. My opinion, it's a heap. But the buyer will be a big hit at the local trailer park meth cookoff. It's got that going for it. Maybe that's why they want 4K for it. They can't get the $3500 worth of crank out of the dashboard.
  14. Do you think a car in that shape is taken to the type of dealership or mechanic that uses CarFax? Even then, CarFax is notoriously unreliable. It depends on the shops and owners to report things. Most never bother as they don't want to harm the resale of a car they may need to resell down the road when it gets traded in.
  15. I agree with Casey. And if they did just blurt out and publish all the names of the molds for golden oldies they had on hand, they wouldn't have the marketing surprise "Just found in the archives and ready for reissue in May!" kind of press releases. You never show your full hand. It must be working because they are expanding. http://www.southbendtribune.com/news/local/keynews/localeconomy/article_a9dd080c-4549-11e3-a715-0019bb30f31a.html
  16. Not a big fan of FoMoCo stuff at all, but this kit is pretty sweet. A plain jane base model with 6cyl will look really neat and I've always liked Moebius kits.
  17. Great article and run down. Maybe since they are in the process of reissuing some 80s TV stuff for kits we'll see them push out the Fall Guy truck again if they can.
  18. They have certainly gotten their use out of that mold over the years haven't they.
  19. Owners don't have to draw salaries from the company. Many owners pay themselves nothing, or very little. Everything they buy goes through company accounts instead so they can write it off as business expenses. In fact, not taking a salary is a way of escaping personal income taxes, which means you and I have to pay more from our income to make up the difference.
