    AC Ace Bristol

Turned the body over to HRM for casting. While I wait for it to come back I will continue work on the chassis and engine. Started final assembly on the engine.
  5. Kit includes only the GTS/4.
  6. Pirelli has offered the first glimpse of Formula One's new look in 2017 after taking the wraps off its wider tyres for next season. The final compounds and structures are still under development, but in order to give an impression of what the new tyres will look like Pirelli unveiled a show car fitted with the new dimensions in the paddock at Monaco. The width of the tyres will increase to 325mm at the front (up from 245mm under the current regulations) and 405mm at the rear (up from 305mm). The significantly wider tyres will increase the mechanical grip of the cars -- in the pursuit of lower lap times and increased overtaking opportunities -- and are part of a wider set of regulation changes to make the cars faster and better looking next year. The tyres will add to the increasing weight of the cars in 2017 -- set to rise from 702kg to 722kg plus tyres -- and Pirelli racing manager Mario Isola said early estimations are for an increase in weight of five kilos across all four tyres. ESPN"We are still developing the first prototypes, the front is currently 8.5kg and will increase by 1kg, but I am talking only about the tyres because then there is an additional weight because of the bigger rim," he said. "The rear tyre is now 10kg and it will be around 11.5kg, depending on the final version of the prototype." Pirelli will start testing the new dimension tyres in early August once a test car is available from one of the teams and has been granted extra track time by the FIA in preparation for 2017.
  7. I use a candle just like Rick mentions above. However I create the bend in the solid rod first. Then while holding the correct bend I pass it over the candle. When I feel the stressed relieved I remove it from the heat. Once cooled this sets the shape. I find I have fewer overheating mistakes with this method. I made these headers with this method.
  8. Nice start on a great subject.
  9. What is your opinion about posting pictures of your build on someone else’s work in progress or completed build thread? I fell it’s their thread to tell the story of their project.

Thank you for the comments. I modified the kit radiator to better represent the unit used in the Ace. Also added a scratch built oil cooler. The kit part is shown for comparison.
  11. Here is said GTO: chassis 3589 GT owned by Victoria High School 1964 -1972. Click on the picture to see it full scale. Looks like it might be a Scarab beside it!
  12. Great reference book if you are interested in these cars. Gives details of every one built. There is a great story of one the cars ending up in a high school auto shop.
  13. Very nice.
  14. New categories have been proposed many many times before. Bottom line; not happening.
  15. Growing up with (8) kids in a three bedroom house we didn't want for excitement. It was nice to slow things down every once in awhile.
  16. Great start Leonard. Can't wait to see how much detail you can cram into this scale.
  17. Remember playing this as a kid.

    AC Ace Bristol

Apparently AC wasn't bashful about borrowing from Ferrari. Here is chassis number BEX289. BE signifies Bristol Engine, X signifies Export meaning left hand drive and 289 is the chassis number.
