  1. I am pretty much calling this done. I will post more and better pictures "Under Glass" in the next day or two. Thanks for following along and all the kind comments.
  2. I hang my on hooks as well. I group them by shapes; tubes, rods, strips, angles etc. I would recommend that you leave them in the original package or mark the container you put them in so that you know the size. A friend of mine has a nice square upright divider rack he found decades ago. Wish I could find something like his.
  3. Making progress on the decals.
  4. It's a little too understated for my taste.
  5. My daughter has tremendous artistic and sculpting skills. She want's to pursue these interest as a career. I will definite show his this video to her. Thanks for posting it Bill.
  6. Nice to see the tires put to good use. Great job.
  7. The wheels and tires are killer.
  8. Bob, I take my WIP pictures on my work bench too. I put the subject on a white 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and setup a quick back drop using a white cardboard box. Then I crop the picture to get rid of all the clutter. Works okay for me.
  9. Yea I like to look at the garage background when they are just showing the guys talking. Missed the crashed Nomad though.
  10. Very nice Juergen.
  11. I agree 1000% John that every builder has a right to post on this forum. I never suggested otherwise. My point is the reason this and other forums attract members is because the viewer expects to see great builds. If MCM only posted average quality box stock builds would you or any other modeler care about this forum? Does that mean unless you are an expert builder you shouldn’t post here – no. I am no professional builder and I have yet to build the perfect model but I post my builds here. I wanted to offer some suggestions as to how a poster might increase his/her chances of receiving comments. It does take effort to post good pictures and provide content that people want to comment on. And Matthew I wasn't busting on cell phone cameras I was just using that as an example. Most of the new phones have better cameras than what I am using (a five-year old 10MP Nikon).
  12. I second the Escort Mk1 and the Cotrina in Lotus or any guise. BTW, I think the guy in the Cortina missed the apex!
  13. The very reason you visit a forum site such as MCM or purchase a model car magazine is to see great builds. Who wants to spend time looking at poorly executed builds or worse bad pictures of any skill level build. A good build worthy of comments does not have to be a super detailed, all out assault, boundary breaking effort. A well constructed build of any detail level will elicit comments. I would recommend the following: Please provide a topic description that lets us know what you are posting. I myself often pass over posts with titles such as “My latest build” or “Build number xx of 2014”. I would suspect others do too. Don’t expect many comments from posting such as “Quickie build _____” Think about the postings you like to view and comment on. Ones where the poster has taken the time to describe what they are doing and how they did it. They also made the effort to provide good pictures. Not blurry sideways cell phone snap shots. If you want to receive comments then make the effort to give the viewer a reason to comment. And finally if you are just beginning or feel your skill level is not where you would like it to be mention this in your post. This gives everyone an idea of the skill level the builder. They can then make a fair assessment of your efforts and provide, if they wish, relevant comments or suggestions as to how you might improve your next build.
  14. How about red recesses? I brush painted the Fuchs on my 914/6 GT by thinning Tamiya semi-gloss black (5 parts thinner to 1 part paint). I loaded up a small brush and touched it near each side of the spoke and let capillary action pull the paint along the spoke. It took three coats to get coverage but I like how they came out.
  15. Thanks Jose & Jonathan. Maxx, Yes he is working on a Scarab and a Chaparral. There are a few other ideas he is working on. I don't want to mention them in case he decides not to release them. I agree the 904 would be a good choice. Jason, I have considered leaving it a street car but I didn't BMF the windshield trim. The race car had duct tape covering the trim. So I think that forces the race car route. Glad you like it so far.
  16. Love the wheels - what kit are they from?
  17. Interesting. Are using planning on Fuchs for the wheels?
  18. Looks good Ron. I like the idea of some period hop-up parts on it.
  19. I am trying to turn him into a Porschephile . He is really into Ferraris (aren't we all) and old Indy/F1 cars. He does have a couple nice '60s race car kits in the works though but no Porsches that I am aware of. Stay tuned.
  20. I thought I would show you what the car looks like in street clothes before I give it the full race car treatment. It's obviously not 100% complete but I think you can see the street car potential.
  21. What are you using for the Spaldling? I scratch built this one from styrene tubing and "C" channel.
  22. Thanks John, glad you like it. Maxx, I have already built the factory '70 Tour de France 911ST using the 911R kit. Here is a link to the completed build. But I have a few more Porsche projects in the works.
  23. Chassis permanently installed.
