Chopped and Channeled '32 Ford 3-Window - Now Under Glass
afx replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Fast & Loud did a real nice '31 Ford on '32 rails. They chopped the top and did a very similar thing with the back window. Looking forward to your build. -

Thanks. The period photos I have found show no side wall marking so that's how I am modeling it.

Primary color applied. Once its full cures I can polish it out and apply the black accents.

Michael Schumacher in a coma after a ski accident
afx replied to Quick GMC's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
A doctor treating Michael Schumacher says he has "hope" that the German could recover within three years. Schumacher suffered severe brain trauma after hitting his head on a rock when he fell while skiing at the French resort of Meribel in late December. Having undergone emergency surgery, he was placed in medically induced coma and spent months in hospital before waking and returning home to Switzerland in September. One of the German's doctors, Jean-Francois Payen, recently visited him and declared that in time Schumacher could make a recovery. Associated Press quotes Payen as having said: "Life after a head injury is punctuated by stages." He estimated that it could take the seven-time World Champion one to three years to recover. He added: "We hope, but we have to give him time." -
Gene Haas says the first five years of his Formula One project will just be about surviving as he looks to learn from the mistakes of the sport's smaller teams. Haas F1 Team will make its debut in 2016 after agreeing a technical deal to receive support and power units from Ferrari. However, Haas is under no illusion as to the challenges his team will face against F1's established teams. "I think in the first five years it's just surviving," he told CNN. "I don't have any expectations of grandeur that we are going to go out there and win championships. If we could even win one race in five years, I think that would be a tremendous success. "Just the association of being with Formula One basically takes our brand from nobody to being in the stratosphere. Sooner or later we'll march up. I'm not expecting to beat anybody, just maybe beat the guys at the back." Of the three new teams that joined F1 in 2010 only Marussia has scored championship points, with HRT folding at the end of 2012 and Caterham's future now looking increasingly bleak. Haas said he has learned from the mistakes of those teams and is confident his team is taking a more structured approach. "I think the biggest problem they had is that in trying to get to the grid so fast they wound up having to take on partnerships that maybe weren't thoroughly thought out and wound up making a lot of mistakes. "Inevitably they didn't have the resources or the cars weren't properly put together because they'd rushed things." Asked why he chose to partner with Ferrari, Haas added: "Ferrari was just more accommodating. Surprisingly, Ferrari wanted to go beyond being just an engine supplier and they were going to actually help us with a lot of the basic structures of the car. "We would be very proud to be a Ferrari 'B-team' because that would certainly teach us how to run in Formula One. We quite frankly will take all the help they can give us, because you can't get any better than Ferrari." Read more here.

Yea a lot people consider the 914 as a Porsche stepchild. I guess it is but myself I really like the car's styling and with the bigger 6-cylinder engine the car was a great performer.

Jeremy, I really like your approach, it inspires me to take my builds further. Thanks for sharing.

Michael Schumacher in a coma after a ski accident
afx replied to Quick GMC's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
At least we have some good news from the F1 world: FIA president Jean Todt says Michael Schumacher will likely "lead a relatively normal life again" following his skiing accident. Schumacher is continuing his rehabilitation at his home in Switzerland after he picked up severe head injuries during a fall on a family skiing trip in France at the end of 2013. The seven-time World Champion was in a medically induced coma for several months before finally being moved to his Swiss home at the start of September. Former Ferrari boss Todt visited Schumacher at his home last week. "We must assume that Schumacher can lead a relatively normal life again within a short period of time," he is quoted as saying by The Independent. "We can say he can probably never drive a Formula 1 car again. But he is fighting. "His condition improved, and what is just as important is the fact that he is now at home with his family." Schumacher's family has kept updates regarding his condition to a minimum in recent weeks and Todt warns that he faces a difficult road. "But a long and hard road is in front of him," he said. "Hopefully things will improve. His family is close to him. He needs time and peace."
