  1. It might be worth your time to buy the nice wheel/tire set from HRM (part# HRM-408). Picture of them on Strada Sports website here Not sure which specific car(s) you are building but some of the Daytonas ran with white wheels.
  2. I thought I made an error once but I was mistaken. I have watched a few of your builds and you do some excellent work.
  3. Nice build. Here is a little trivia for you, Porsche would pressurize the tubular chassis with air. They mounted an air pressure gauge in the driver cockpit. If the pressure dropped the driver would then know a weld or a frame member had failed.
  4. Turned out great Tommy.
  5. Excellent.
  6. Nice build, love the color. I have quite a few Porsches in my collection as well.
  7. That works out to approximately 1/26 scale.
  8. Looks like Offenhauser heads lurking under the hood.
  9. That does look small. Here are the car's dimensions I found on the internet length x width x height: 4650 mm x 1720 mm x 940 mm, wheelbase: 2300 mm In 1/24 scale it should be: 194 mm x 72 mm x 39 mm, wheelbase: 96 mm Do these dimensions check out on the kit?
  10. Al, I do get what you are going for and I don't think the DFV would be viable in a front engine mount installation. Just wanted you to see what the engine looks like. Might I suggest the 429 from Bob Gliddens Pro Stock Thunderbird? It's hard to get nastier than that.
  11. The Ford Cosworth DFV is an awesome motor no doubt. It is the winingest F1 engine of all time. The only kit source I am aware of in 1/24 scale is Fujimi's Dome Zero. Its a nice one though. Anyone else know of a kit/resin source for a 1/24 scale DFV? The Cosworths in the rally Escorts were in-line 4 cylinders. The engine is available in the ESCI MkII kits. Great engine but I don't think it would work so well in a heavy Thunderbolt.
  12. I can't recommend our club, Maryland Automotive Modelers Association (MAMA) highly enough. Since I have joined my modeling skills have improved by leaps and bounds. The meetings have a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. We have no club contests so there are no rivalries. Everyone is willing to answer any question you have and help you build your skill level. And we are blessed with some very very talented builders and two of the best resin casters in the business (Replica & Miniatures of Maryland and Historic Racing Miniatures). We have no membership fees so come to a meeting, you'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner.
  13. I have had a tangle or two about what can or cannot be discussed on this forum. However MCM and the Administrators have every right to ask for and expect common courtesy from it's forum users. Expecting the forum users not to promote (directly or indirectly) a competing magazine/forum is not too much to ask. Oh and by the way your build is killer Bob.
  14. Misha, I'll be watching your 907 build. I have wanted one of these kits for a long time. I have heard they are a difficult build. Looking forward to your comments and results with this kit.
  15. A well built and a well traveled model, Nice job Tamas.
  16. USA should have won that game. Can't believe they didn't score when we had the goalie out of net. If they play like that against Germany, minus the brain dead start they have a shot.
  17. If you are interested in the the kit please contact Historic Racing Miniatures at: historicracingminiatures@comcast.net
  18. I love vintage hot rods and they don't get much better than a '32 hi-boy.
  19. Bill, I did a tutorial on how I built the body dolly here.
  20. Check out this new racing version of the Beetle, 0 to 60 times 2.1 seconds!
  21. Minimal clean-up and a coat of primer and were building.
  22. Okay so now that I have a resin copy back from HRM I can finally start to build the kit. I want to build the Sonauto entry that won the GT class in 1970 (the 914's very first appearance at Le Mans) and finished 6th overall! The picture is of a cloned car but it will give you an idea of what the car looks like.
  23. Yep just reverse the engine like this:
