The green works very well on this car..... well done.

Very nice group..... but how did that clean Mustang find its way into the mix? I guess it is true, rust never sleeps..... even on plastic.

Great build of a difficult kit..... I have had it for a long time now and it scares the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of me every time I open the box. One of these days I will have to give it go. Seriously, well done.

nicely done.... the Weber's make for a different look on the engine..... unique.

Yes, you are correct about the triumphant of businesses involved with the M6, but by either name, it is a worthwhile kit..... as for the Slotfabrik decals you are exactly right about the difficulty in applying them. They are designed for use on slot cars which take a beating, so they are rather thick and unresponsive to the usual decal solvents. They require a heavy dose of the hair dryer heat and still they fight you. Further because the coating on the decals is sprayed on the entire decal sheet, you must trim them very close to the ink making the small or intricate decals a real pain. These decals are not for the inexperienced or "quickly disheartened" builder. As the decal comes off the paper to be applied it has a tendency to curl up on itself so extra care must be taken. I nearly gave up on a number of them, but finally man-handled them into place. Further, because no information is supplied with the decals as to the placement or the version of the race car, you need to do extensive internet searching for find photos from all the angles of each car. But as difficult as these decals are, they make a huge selection of race cars and liveries, so if you want a stable of different cars, they are the go-to supplier. The blue "Black Falcon" AMG car here used Studio 27 decals, and applying them was like taking a vacation on the beach after the struggles with the other cars. Glad you guys like the builds.... I still have 4 more, 2 of each, to get done.

NuNu is the same as Platz.... same kit. I actual have that kit, the only difference is the new version includes the front tender louvers as a separate part. On the cars I built, I had to make the louvers on a few of them. It is not quite as well engineered as the Tamiya kits are, but still pretty good.

Yes you did, and I remember it.... it was very well done too.

When Tamiya introduced the AMG GT3 race car I knew I would have to get one, after building it as the kit intended, I got 5 more. Then Platz introduced the BMW M6 GT3, I built one, and then got 5 more of that one too. Below are 4 versions of each car. I have 2 more of each in the Que. The AMG in the "Watch" version, IWC #50 (dull charcoal) and in the HTP Motorsport Mann Filter #84 (yellow with green trim) both decal sets from Slotfabrik of Germany. The remaining BMW livery's are the Falken blue and green car just released, and the Sepang 2017 Fiste #90 car with decals from Slotfabrik. First up, the AMG's Now the BMW M6's

Scaglietti Hat Trick The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 2+2 was debuted in 2004, so it is now a bit long in the tooth. And not being one of my favorite Ferrari designs, it does have the classic feature of a front engine, rear drive setup which was the way the first Ferrari’s were designed. Here are my three variations of this car. 1. This is the 612 as a convertible. This car has a minor front fender bulge, opened and hinged doors, BBS wheels and a set of hood vents to exhaust hot engine air. It has a two tone paint scheme with Tamiya light metallic blue on top and dark gunmetal on the bottom. The convertible top was vacuum formed over a buck I carved from sign foam 2. This is the 612 with full fender bulges, fore and aft, and a full side skirt. The side door sculptures were filled in. This car features gull-wing doors that open and a rear deck spoiler. The top of the car is painted in Tamiya Metallic Black and the bottom half is Tamiya Mica Red. The wheels came from a Porsche 918. 3. This has been shown before. It is a completely custom designed body sitting on the 612 chassis with the engine and interior from that car. Lambo doors and opening trunk with luggage in it. Gold BBS wheels and a Tamiya Metallic Black top and Tamiya Metallic Red topped with Clear Red.

Revell Mustang snap kits I have been surprised that the only version of the newest Mustang that Revell has offered is a snap kit. I have at least 5 models, by Revell of the last two Mustang body styles and they are all full detail models. I understand the fact that they are attempting to reach the younger modeler, but with full detail models of the Camaro’s, it seems odd that the new Mustang has been relegated to “snap status”. Having said that, here are two versions of the snap kit that I have completed. Version 1 is relatively stock. I added outside rearview mirrors and wheels from the Lamborghini . I lowered it down to the ground and gave it a two tone gold paint scheme with a solid stripe rather than the usual double stripe. Version 2 is a little more adventurous in that I converted it into a GT3 race car. I followed the same design and used decals intended for the previous version Mustang GT3 as raced by the Marc VDS team made by Tailormadedecals of Germany. This body has extensive fender modifications similar to the way the other GT3 racecars look. I opened the doors which was rather difficult because the plastic on these snap kits is extra thick. The interior tub and roll cage came from the BMW GT3 kit (Spot Models who sell the kit, offer a number of the spru trees for sale separately) so it was easy to obtain…… also, they offer the spru pieces for the Tamiya AMG GT3 kit, so I picked up two extra sets of those wheels and tires, and used one set on this car. The rear wing, rearview mirrors and rear under deck diffuser came from one the Fujimi BMW GT3 Z4 kits (they are spares included in the kit) I added the fender louvers over the front wheels and added the exhaust vents on the hood…. In front to allow hot air out of the radiator, and the rear louvers to vent the hot engine compartment air. An extra set of road lights were added to the grille and I added the engine exhaust pipes just behind the front wheels. Car is painted in Tamiya Silver Leaf and top coated with Tamiya Semi-Gloss clear.

The Infiniti Q45 was sold in the USA from 1989 until 2006. During that time, they had 3 distinctly different body styles. The first generation was based on the Nissan President and was the largest of the 3 designs. This 1st version is absolutely my favorite having driven it extensively and a number of times on the race track, full out, where it really showed off its amazing ability for being such a large car (the Q45a version had an “Active Suspension” package that used computer controlled shocks to exert a force to counter any body lean or wheel dip, rather advanced for 1989 era sedans.) The second and third generations were based on the slightly smaller Nissan Cima platform. Here is an Aoshima kit of the Nissan Cima, the 3rd generation vehicle badged as an Infiniti Q45 model in the USA, but as sold in Japan as a Cima and this kit has the upgraded aftermarket “Parfume” customization package. On top of that I have made substantial changes to the kit. The Cima was only sold as a 4 door sedan and I prefer 2 door coupes whenever possible. So, I needed to make a few changes. First I removed the roof and replaced it with a roof from the Revell Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. Then converted the car into a 2 door by resizing the doors and then opened and hinged the doors and added a sunroof to the car along with a set of hood louvers cut into the hood and finished with black mesh screening on the bottom side. The kit is designed as a curb-side model, but with separate hood and trunk pieces, which I found a bit odd, but useful nonetheless. Because of this, I felt that I needed to hinge both. The trunk was easy to finish off, but the hood was another matter altogether. The hood, I decided to hinge in the reverse order so that it opens from the front. One of the interesting points of the “under the hood” detail of the real car is that it has panels and shields so the compartment looks very finished and “smooth” looking down at it. That point made the construction of the engine much easier since you can’t see the engine block and any of the lower compartment detail, only the top panels. So building out the engine bay turned out to be much simpler that I originally feared. The car has a two-tone paint of Testers One-coat lacquer Pure Gold on top, and Tamiya Metallic Black on the lower portion with a top coat of Tamiya clear and I lowered down the car as low as I could make it. The wheels and tires came from the kit but I added a ring of Tamiya clear orange around the outer section. If nothing else, it is a one of a kind build and not your average Infiniti.

Nice builds, but I really like the Ford Pickup.... great paint.

All really well done, but the Porsche is my pick as the top build. I love the livery choice on that build.

All excellent and unique builds.... the '55 Ford really works for me.

You had a good year, hands down, the 69" Camaro is the class of the field.

What a surprise, Corvettes! All really well done, although by now you should be able to build a Corvette model in your sleep..... I too like the Daytona C7R the most. -
Very, very sharp build... love the decals and that you built a different version of the Corvette race cars. Well done.

Very convincing.

Okay..... these are all 1/24 kits. The Ferrari 612 in a modified, very modified, Revell kit. The Mustang is a Revell kit with opened doors and trunk and a resin motor with the Weber carb. set up The Cobra roadster is a Fujimi kit with the doors opened and the front suspension modified to get the stance right. The Cobra coupe is the curbside Gunze kit. I opened the hood and doors (not easy to do on this kit) . I spoke with Harold Bradford at HRM, many years ago and he, very generously sold me the engine and under hood parts necessary to convert the curbside kit. This is as close as I could make the chassis number CSX 2299 as it looks now. Today it carries number 13, but I left the number off the build and luckily, I had a couple of "Dan Gurney for President" decals on a decal sheet I picked up about 20 years ago just waiting for this build. Thanks for looking, and thanks for asking..
