Yep X-acto! 1st thing that came to mind....
Well, painted the body a little bit ago........it is Kandy Apple Red (the light doesn't reflect that though in the pics.) I will be doing some sort of graphics on it with Sponsors and such afterall.....probably tomorrow (maybe later, gotta eat.)
Here are some update pics of the interior/chassis.........wanted to try out stitching on this model so the gray leather got stitching (these pics are close up so you can imagine what it looks like at 1/24 scale.) No gauges, think electro-luminescent!
The exhaust was a major pain to get lined up.....the center pipe is solder. The skid plates are from the GTR and cut to fit around the front suspension (the Revell logo will be covered when I put this together so it is a non-issue.)
Hee Hee, wait till you see the interior.....not slackin'
Thanks again Jon. Think I'm gonna do a Kandy Tangerine on this instead of the raspberry......probably.
Nope not yet......probably tomorrow. Needs one more coat of primer tonight.
Been working on the other details: The interior (two tone), the chassis (almost done), the exhaust (a BIG headache!), the front mount intercooler (quite large)
Thanks Clint!
I had to section out about 3-4 mm of the height of it but in the end I think it is a good fit too, I am also running the GTR rear exhaust section on this as well.
Thanks Carl, as you can tell I am kind of torn......I think it will just be considered as a removable hardtop.
Thanks Patrik! When I looked at the parts before the build, I thought hmmm "This would make sense......"
Guilty as charged!
See how it would almost look better as a convertible speedster? I'll still paint the top, but I think it would look better without it.
I've been busy on this trying to get it ready to debut at the Milwaukee Miniatures show this Sunday......
Wheels are Pegasus 23" sleeves with Audi R8 centers......brakes are 911 GT2.
Pre-paint shots-
For two part epoxy putty, I use Apoxie Sculpt.......it is available at aves.com. Mold makers use it all the time.....I heard about it from a guy in a modeling club and also from Jimmy Flintstone (he uses it on his molds.) This stuff is amazing because you can shape it just like clay (with water.) 3 hours of working time then it hardens like a rock fully after 24 hours. The 1 lb kit (more than enough for over 10 models!) costs about $25.00. You can also get it on ebay.
Cool project Jimmy!
I was pretty surprised to see the difference it made to lengthen the cutout to the back of the C-pillar and the back of the quarter.
Keep goin'! I'm watchin'
I opened this thinking I was going to see a newer Chrysler 300........in Milwaukee it is referred to as the ghetto Bentley so I've heard.
Your topic is so much better!!
Thanks Carl! I am glad you brought that up.....because as I was sanding it, there was something oddly familiar about the shape I was getting out of it.
This Merc is looking awesome!!!!!!
On the subject of True Fire.......
Get yourself the True Fire video by Mike Lavallee.....he is the Master of True Fire!
I learned how to do it from him. This is not my best work, but you get the idea......
