  1. jip..it's 1/8th scale.. to tell you the truth..i can't recall who made the wheels..i bought them on Ebay..the guy who made them also made Stinger hoods for this kit he was/is from the US though..shouldn't be to hard to find out who he is? the wheels aren't the best resincast quality out there ,but with some work you can get them in reasonable shape (kinda)...i just sprayed them Alclad which shade ? don't know anymore...what happened to standing around that day probably... .the tyres are the ones from the kit..with the white lettering sanded off..the red stripe is just painted on with Tamiya acrylic.,.nothing really fancy.. snapped a picture of the enginebay tonight..it's been raining over here..and the forecast says no different tomorrow..so more pics are on hold.. man ,i hate this season..i wish i lived in SoCal.. thanks for the comments guys.. next subject will be a 1/12 69 Camaro..either a Z28 again or if i can get my hands on a '67 big block Vette for it's engine ,i'm going the SS 396 route.. i'll be back..
  2. hi guys/girls started this thing back in the fall of 2014..came to me as nothing more than a box full of red plastic junk..with bad chromed parts thrown in..just for the fun of it then again, as it's the 2600 kit..it could be molded in the 70's?the body was full of flash and moldlines..requiring massive clean up but these kits aren't really common here ,so i was glad to source one allthough it took long to complete because personal stuff moved house ,got me another 1/1 project..and so forth.. i built it pretty much stock except for the wheels which i got from Ebay..(can't remember who/how) the paint is all automotive Standox basecoat and 2 Part clear shot through a normal paintgun..didn't polish it afterwards the interior got some flocking and foil..needed to Alclad some parts ..aswel as searching for reference photos online..çause unlike some of you guys i don't happen to have an uncle or a neighbour who has a Stingray for sunny days and weekends sitting in his garage ..heck, i have never even seen a real one.. for the moment only 2 pictures i shot quickly indoors..if the weather clears up i'll take it outside and do some more.. anyway, everybody by now knows this kit has only mediocre detail..but it is what it is..all in all it built quite pleasant..like an oversized 1/24 scale but man this thing is big..it's gonna be a challenge keeping it dust free stored enjoy..i'll be back
  3. Hemi Cuda i hope... well anything different then all the Rolls Royces ,Bugatti's and Ferarri's from the past.. more a car you guys can relate to..as in 'man! i drove one of those in highschool..,i should have kept it'... well...with a little effort..you can build something out of it.. if only Revell or whoever might just go the extra mile..in the detail department..
  4. Yeah...i read about that.. sort of the same thing they did with the 57 Bel Air ,69 Z28 ..it was issued over here molded in black also (don't know statewise).. i just finished the 2600 kit .the early one in red..which was nothing more then a box full of plastic junk when i got it.. so i don't see me building another.. if any manufacturer out there would do something in big scale..please give us another muscle car ..like a '67 GT500..68-9 Charger R/T,Pontiac GTO (Judge) or reissue the 1/8 scale Firebird or the Iroc Z Camaro ..any kind of 'iconic' US car would be nice.. Eurocars ...well i wouldn't let a BMW 2002 Turbo ,M635i,M535i,or even the E30 M3 , Mercedes G wagen AMG in 1/12 scale..slip away or a proper 911 ..be it the 930 or the latter 993....so much choice out there..,although it obviously has to appeal to a large crowd... a Morris Marina in big scale would not be a salesucces.. i guess.. also it would need to appeal on both shores ,considering that building plastic models isn't as big over here as in the Us..(Diecast/resin is much bigger)it 'll be something that's known cinema-tv wise..or it's not gonna cut it over here..making it even more costly.. we got the 2010 Mustang gt500 by Revell Germany...and i wonder how many they sold..can't be more than a couple of 100..(if they even did)
  5. depends on how good the kit is..the amount of detail.. i've been looking at the newer Pochers..like the Testarossa ,the Porsche 911 (993?)..in 1/8 scale..but they really are not up to standard more like an oversized 1/18 cheap diecast model..no detailing whatsoever..,and because of the simple design ..(over)detailing them yourself wouldn't look right if Revellogram would release a 1/8 scale kit again..like the E type or 65 Vette..with the same amount of detail like those kits back then ...as in no opening doors ,simple engine and chassis i would pay 75-100 euro's max for it.. if they would do a buildable Tamiyakind type o kit ..with opening doors ,trunk ,great detail ,the whole 9 yards..i would pay double ,perhaps even more.. its gotta be worth it...being a big kit doesn't just cut it anymore..maybe in the 60'-70's..but not now.. take a look at some of the better 1/18 diecast models out there..put a boxstock Monogram 1/8 65 Vette next to one..doesn't look right ..i can tell you
  6. photo's all gone.. thanxs to Imageshack... that's a bummer..it still sits in a cabinet here.. and guess what ?,i scored me a real vintage kit of this Z/28 ,still sealed in plastic.... gonna build this ..again with some detail, this time totally stock ..in Hugger orange..with the white stripes.. watch the Big Boys channel ,winter is due..nice to build and fabricate!
  7. looks really good... these cars are really really fast in real life..even the street version is lethal..a friend of mine drove several.. has nothing to do with a 1,4 version..i can tell you
  8. i guess when having extremely good skills ..and a super controlled enviroment you could get a flawless finish on plastic.. but up until now i never could grasp the quality of many of my 1/18 Autoart diecast models having a BMW e30 M3 in Nogaro silver (the cecotto edition).. amongst many others.. the paintwork is unbelievable.. even the metallic flakes are up to scale..no runs or dry spots not a spec of dirt...and this thing shines..even better than the real thing and about the thickness of the paint...i have got no clue...it doesn't look 'handdipped' or soaked in clearcoat..nor does it look like somebody polished it on the assembly line.. i also have a whole host of the Ottomobile 1/18 range..these are resin bodied ..call them curbside..and these also look super realistic ...(and limited in 2500 pcs each) i even have the 1/12 Volkswagen Golf 1 GTI..and although these resin models are 99% correct in size and shape..and looks..you CAN tell they are plastic(ish).. some of my Otto's i've had for years have toned down in shine a bit ..and all sorts of stuff has rissen to the surface on some.. like dust and sinkmarks...in a way they seem alive.. the metal ones including the Autoart 67 gt500 in bleu and red and about 15 other eurocar models are fine like day one.. so if we are talking high end diecast models ...i myself haven been a automotive painter for 20+ years..i still can't figure it out how the companys like AutoArt and CMC or even Minichamps get away with it... beats me!
  9. Yentl.. is this thing available in Belgium?..the magazine and the kit? i don't mind building this in 2 years..if it's a 1000 euro kit in 2 years its doable.. i visit Antwerp often (25 minute drive) ik ben van net buiten Essen weet u? i would really like a big scale '67 GT500.. and i also have both 1/18 Autoart '67 GT500's the red AND the bleu ones...das wa anders hee 1/8 would really be something...if done nicely..
  10. just saw what mr Thibausometing did with this kit... still don't have a clue what's knocking people about the other magazine... but he built this thing Foose style..and i like it.. some more detailing would knock it out of the park... maybe it's not realistic (cross rams aren't easy picked up streetcorner),,,and the wheels are a little big .. but i like it ..give the guys ...be it Foose or Revell some credit.. it looks great..
  11. Jesus! i would really like to participate in that...but i bet it'll be near impossible to get copys of the magazine over here (Netherlands) i wouldn't care less what the finished thing would cost in the end.. the problem is you can't even get the magazine over here ,this forum is based on.. i can only buy copy's of 'the other one' (rhimes with Dale Motto)..in Antwerp.. love to have a very big scale '67 GT500... i have both colours in 1/18 scale diecast from AutoArt..(outstanding detail/finish)..and i would be over the moon with this one guess it'll never happen..
  12. awesome...can't find words
  13. love the episode with the Shelby GT350 ..he sometimes uses it to drive to the studio..and he gives it some real poke the guy knows what he is talking about ..be it US cars or Euro..and just like Harry said he talks about the in a way everybody will understand what he's saying great guy Mr Leno
  14. i never consider myself a nerd,,far from it.. i'm always curious about the way things work or are put together.. i get a kick out of developing skills and know how..and that's not soulely in moddeling ,just about anything i see i wanna know about couple of years back i could not have imagined building the last large scales like i did recently.. by learning looking and trying ..you constantly develope as a person.. if it's restoring a real car or building as correctly in scale as possible ,learning to ski, riding high power motorcycles or even play drums..those are things that make you more of a 'rich' person.. i'm 40 years old and in a way ..still 16 years old..i could not see me sitting in a retirement home playing Bingo ..ever.. i wanna learn at least another foreign language..i still want to build a 3 series BMW with a M5 engine in it ...and build models.. even if people think i'm a nerd or a freak... i just don't care...live your life full ..not half assed because you are afraid what other people think.. and in a way..you'll never satisfy everbody at the same time..
  15. Ahh ok! it;s gonna be tricky though but i'll manage... thanks for the info!
  16. if i may ask? what sort of trimming did you do to get those wheels to fit inside the Goodyears? i've been looking at the wheels myself but they look way to big to fit in there.. i would really like to use them in order to get some meat in the wheel wells the stock ones look to skinny ...considering this was a high performance car back then
  17. yeah i got it .. i wanna build 50 models a year, but stuff won't let me...1/1's take too much time.. ben een Golf2 edition one aan het bouwen met een 16Vg60 erin..en then all the rest stays put for now..
  18. you do build nice stuff Richard.. don't get me wrong i 'm just more of a nit picker..and i build clean.. models tend do get weathered and dusty just by sitting on the shelf over here....kinda makes me think why i bother.
  19. got this kit last week..it's only available bij Revell Usa.. so it won't be sold overhere by normal hobbyshops, except one or two major shops that deal in plastic kits/ Diecast cars and all.. got it straight from the good old US of A.. the price was better this way than getting the orange version of E bay..,and then it still would be an old kit.. this kit is molded very nice..Foose parts only being the wheels and decals.. which the rear ones look like 24's.. won't be a problem 'cause i'll finaly be building a stock Z/28..just waiting for the Modelgarage PE set to arrive... that deal went down great for the Gunmetal Z28 i built a while back ... so i'll be starting soon..i'll go for Yellow with black stripes ..Hugger Orange never came with black stripes ..Right?
  20. no offence ..but when you build things that look all dusted up and dirty..nothing really can go wrong can it?you could even mask a drop of spilled glue with some weathering..no one would ever see or know it. i'm guessing if you painted it high gloss red with a nice shiny detailed engine ,it would have taken much more time and effort. not knocking it ..but i never could or would understand the 'ratlook' thing...
  21. i just build from a spare bedroom floor on a sheet of vinyl..no specific tools except for an airbrush ..the rest is all crappy builders supplies. you don't need a milion dollar space to build nice the best 1/1 cars i've seen build were done in a one car garage with a dirt floor sometimes... you don't need eyes to see you need vision...is what they say...
  22. i always use two pack ..and don't even think about enamel paint nowadays.. but i used to use Duplicolor in the past..it did the trick everytime..
  23. way too expensive..and it cracks way too easy.. just use Dupli Color
  24. it's gotta be my age,but i don't really like both of them.. the first one is done in a way that's so unbelievably bad in the acting department...and the actor's voices are waaay off the second one is even worse..the sort of cars they steal twice in one week in the same area..like a '67 GT500,Hemi Cuda..6 or 7 vintage Ferrari's etc..like everybody has one or two standing around just for the fun of it.. the only thing good is the '67 Fastback in that movie
