AMT Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Convertible
om617 replied to om617's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I notice the convertible has a single carb (i think it`s a quadrajet), power steering and AC. The hardtop has the three carb set-up with cold air intakes,w30 option i assume. It does not have AC. This kit also does not come with fuel pump, does not show in the instructions either. Both models also lack power brakes. Or lack, depends on how you see it. The hardtop has a nice power steering bracket, this lack on the convertible, wich has a nice AC bracket. I wish they included the PS bracket on both. Well there some useless info for you. -
Had a great trade with PowerPlant/Matija.

Windshield Installation Help

Micro Krystal Klear does require many hours to heal but when it does it is quite strong. I use tamiya masking tape, first i lay two stripes of masking tape over the inside of the window (this tape does not leave anything on the glass) and then position the glass onto the body, then tighten the tape so the glass is in the correct position, with some pressure from the tape. Then i use a toothpic and smear little dots of MKK around the window, making sure the glue touch both the edge of the window and the body. Then put it away for it to heal. The time i use for waiting (10-12) hours or so i use for blackwash and little touch ups here and there on chassis and interior. -

I went ahead and purchased the 69 gauges and will see how it goes. I wonder if i could use BMF on the 442 scripts on the body and then maby try some clear red over. The originals goes over 3 diffrent colors red, light red,and yellow/orange,so i`m not sure how to pull that off. -

Thank you Bill. I`m suprised how nice this kit is,also has a nice uptop i`m going to test on older annuals. The engineering on this kit is very similar to the 67 Impala SS. The only thing i could put my finger on is of coarse the decals and a little warp on the frame, but its so nice i dont care since it`s gone when glued to the chassis pan. I will check with Bestmodelparts on Ebay if he maby has the gauge set. The 442 decals i`m not sure what to do with. -

Year and wheelbase on the C-bodys. Trying to find a decent chassis for my "Monaco" station wagon so i stored this from google. -
Hello. Got this kit today sealed and in perfect condition, however i cant see there is any decal sheet in it. Is there supposed to be a decal sheet or did these not come with any? Also where could i find aftermarket 66 Cutlass 442 decals? Thanks. Tommy

The Fury looks mint, great Bonneville as well, really good looking cars, even more elegant then the 64 imo. I thought of using the the wheels on one of mine from the Moebius Venturas.

Christopher you read my mind. Always kinda wanted to a 62 4door. Got a donor convertible where the window frame went onto a 61 Bonneville. Steven the casting looks way beyond my expectations, very nice. I think i`m negative agaist Flintstone because of the 63 Polara but i`ll admit to they`re 50 Olds Fastback is a really nice cast.

Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!

I hope the owners dont have to read all these threads regarding they`re business. Assumptions rarely does anyone any favour. Pretty sure they will do a statement when they are going to close. -
Looks really good. What did you use to sculp after those wheel arches?

Put some coats of primer to look for flaws, plenty ugly lines on the front end. Need to lower it way more. This kit has steel axle front and rear,so the front need to go,and spindles being made instead. I do enjoy the looks of the wide whitewall tires,i think i`ll go with them. Got a 392 for it,put in the stripper tonight.

Cool build. Nice you add a figure in it,rarely see that happen.

Is looking really nice. Got any idea for mount braided hose onto the fittings? Somthing that isn`t too fragile?
