  1. Mark, they are lacquer. Dry / cure very quickly. They are not shiny and must be clear coated with a gloss clear to be shiny.
  2. Time for a Monday night update. This will be a short one, but in real time this took quite a while. I primed the body in Gravity Colors Light Gray primer. I wish they made a wider variety of primer colors, but they don't. Light and dark gray are all they offer. Once the primer cured I shot their Titanium White on the body and misc. parts. This is some bright white! After the body sat for a day, I checked it out. It looked good at first glance, but upon closer inspection I saw that the back section was "pebbly", almost like sandpaper. I must have pulled back too far with the airbrush(?) At any rate, I knocked it down, masked it, and reshot it. It came out nice and smooth. That is it for this update. As I always say, I am farther along than what I post. I hope to have more updates soon. Thanks for checking in!
  3. I have picked up and put down the Heller plastic kit several times. I don’t know much about the car’s pedigree, but I do like the looks of the car. I’ll pop a bag of popcorn and follow along on this one!
  4. Very nice, Thomas! It is nice to see these built. I’m thinking that there are a lot of started but not finished ones out there…lol.
  5. Love those McLarens! Nice job as usual, Rich. You’ve been knocking them out of the park!
  6. I was a teenager when this TV show came out. I loved that van! I really like yours. Nice job!
  7. Dang, Curtis, that is sharp! Like everyone else, I love that paint job.
  8. Very nice!!
  9. Fantastic floppers, Bill!
  10. As I’ve said before, I don’t get on here as much as I would like to. The upside to this is I get to “binge watch” everyone’s progress! Pierre, you have done a fantastic job on this. I truly appreciate all of your updates, photos, and explanations of what, and how, you do things! Great job, buddy!
  11. That is a fantastic looking Ford! You did one heckuva job on it!
  12. Just saw this one and I’m glad that I did! Great looking ’57, Mike. I’m glad you posted a picture of the interior, it looks great.
  13. I wish all of my “screw ups” came out like this! If they did, I would screw up a lot more…lol. Seriously, that is an outstanding piece. The awesome photography just highlights the beautiful model. You always do nice work. Thanks for sharing this one.
  14. Very nice! That is a great color.
  15. What a great memory to have and what a great story to tell! Yes, Sir, you did it justice. A very fitting tribute!
  16. Thanks, Bruce! On this car, I used the kit supplied masks. For kits that I have to make masks for, I use Tamiya tape. I burnish it down with a tightly wrapped Q-tip, like Tamiya sells. I will also use a toothpick to really get it down into the corners. For cutting, I bought a box of surgical scalpels from Amazon. They are the disposable, plastic handle kind. I work in a hospital and I can tell you that it is the same quality as they use in a healthcare setting. I only use my scalpels for cutting masking and BMF. Hope this helps.
  17. She is coming along quite nicely, Pierre! Always a pleasure watching your work.
  18. Wow!, Simo, that looks great in that color. Very nice, indeed!
  19. Just getting caught up on this one, Ken. You are doing a great job on this! I really appreciate you showing us what you have added and how you’ve done it. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this.
  20. Thank you, Marc! I had previously picked up Gravity Colors’ paint for this. After seeing yours, I’m really itching to start mine.
  21. Doggone, Craig, you sure do build some fantastic models! Another beauty from your bench!
  22. I thought it was just my laptop, but it appears that maybe it wasn't. I've had two separate instances where I tried to update my WIP thread (Other Racing) and I got the same error. It said page can't be found. I posted from my phone without any problems.
  23. Ok, it looks like it worked. I will finish the post that I couldn't get to post last night. I don't know about you guys, but I hate masking. The Fujimi kit came with window masks and those are the ones that I used. I did buy an aftermarket set, but did not need them. I will say that careful masking does pay off. I have been steadily working on this model. I will update again when I have something meaningful to share. As always, I appreciate you checking in!
  24. Test #2. I am having issues with posting from my laptop. Going to give posting from my phone a try. I have to say that I am impressed with Fujimi and the job they did on this body. They have done a great job on the molding. The next three pictures are of the untouched body. This is how it came straight out of the box.
