Fandamntastic!!!

Time to look at the body. I primed the body in Gravity Colors (Spain) Dark Gray Primer and then shot it in their Lexus LFA Liquid Blue (see my first post for a picture of the paint). I shoot thin coats and set a timer for 10 minutes between coats. Even with this, I ended up with crazing on the hood, roof, and a couple of small parts on the body. I was able to fix the body, but I had no luck fixing the hood and roof. More on that later. Here is the body in color after repairing the areas that were crazed. Here she is after clear. The clear is still wet in these pictures. Masked up to paint the black areas and the marker lights. So, what did I do about the hood and roof? Carbon fibered them of course! Note that this picture was brightened up a good bit so that you could see the CF. The blue is nowhere near this bright. This is the last update. Oh man, Anton, I completely missed that detail. Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately, the model is done so I won't be able to correct that, but I will definitely keep that I my to do list for the next model.

On to the interior. Keeping with my main theme - dark blue body with red accents throughout, I wanted the interior to be black with some red panels. I painted the red areas first with Tamiya LP flat red and once cured, I masked it and painted the other areas Tamiya LP flat black. After the flat black was cured I masked the center stack and shot it in Tamiya LP metallic black. The finished interior. Next up will be painting the body. I definitely had some issues with the paint crazing the body.

Welcome back, Brian!! I would imagine you have noticed a lot of changes in the hobby since you were last involved. If you have any questions, don't be shy. This is a great forum and community with a ton of knowledge.

Alex, I do have the instructions. I keep mine because I mark them up quite a bit. Most importantly, I write down all of the paint colors / codes that I use on almost every part. If you are in need of a set of instructions, you can download them from Scale Mates.

Time for the second update on this one. I thought I would post a few random shots of things that I worked on in between major assemblies. The kit calls for these to be painted black and to use the provided red Corvette decals. I painted mine red to go with the red accent theme. The black Corvette was achieved by flowing Tamiya panel liner into the recesses and cleaning them up. I used three different metalizers on this part. Hard to see in the pictures, but it adds visual interest. Likewise with this, there are two different metalizers used. I did very subtle heat staining. One thing to note, I glued that tunnel cover on backwards. It has been fixed. Keeping with the red accents, the calipers were painted red. Once all of these items were complete, I was able to assemble everything. Somehow, I forgot to take pictures of the engine during its assembly. Next up is the interior. I'll post another update in a day or two.

The first update on this project will be the undercarriage. Up first is a photo of a C6 Corvette. This is what I used as a reference for mine. I prime everything. The chassis was shot in Gravity Colors Dark Gray Primer. I masked the four square-ish areas and will leave them in the primer color. I shot the chassis in Tamiya's LP-5 Semi-Gloss Black. The two suspension pieces were shot in AK Interactive Xtreme Metal Aluminum. There was some tricky masking on these parts. And here is what I ended up with.

Very unusual for me, I have started several kits and not finished them. I normally start one and plow through it whether or not I am feeling it. I have laid aside a couple of kits recently. I pulled out the Revell 2005 C6 Corvette kit hoping for an easy, hassle free, fun kit. So far it has fit the bill. I'll start by sharing a couple of pictures of what were the inspiration for my build. I chose dark blue body color with red accents in the engine bay, interior and rotors. Here is the kit. Here are the kit contents. Here is the color that I selected for the body. Here are a few pictures that show the inspiration of this build. Note that my interior will not have near as much red as the real car. I usually start with the body. I highlight the seam lines with a Sharpie to make them easier to see. In this picture, sanding has already started. I will try to keep regular updates going. As I always do, I am further along with this build than what I post. I like my updates to cover meaningful progress, like a whole completed subassembly kind of thing. Thanks for looking!

Thank you, Scot! Hasegawa has repopped this kit so many times, I can't keep track. It is the same kit, but there are a ton of different liveries. I really enjoy this kit. Of all of the many kit that I have, this one (Porsche 962C in general), is one that I have multiples of.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Dusters. My step sister had one and would let me drive it. Love the color and paint job. She is a looker for sure!
