........look's terrific, Randall...color is great with white stripe's too.....tell me,,, which AMT 70 Chevelle kit was used to build this, as you know over the year's several have been out, because I don't have one, but will buy the issue you have there.....the Ace.....

..there is a built beater on right now, and checking completed sales a sealed example sold back a bit for 350 bucks...the Ace...

well, my only suggestion is to check ebay to see if one is up for bid presently...but I doubt it. you could check with some of the kit dealer's that have been selling vintage model's for year's now, like Model King Dave at 1 732 240 3987..............that's a rare and very expensive piece you want, especially truly mint in box, and usually the used beater's sell for hefty money too...........you will find one online eventually, but if it's xmas you have in mind, may be a problem.....best I can offer, the Ace........

Is finishing your goal?
AC Norton replied to Psychographic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
......you asked, so I'll throw in on this one.........it's ALWAYS my goal to finish a car to my liking and enjoy the trip along the way,,,,but, like mentioned on the opening of this thread, in the last couple of year's I just seem to loose interest after the sanding, part's prep, grinding, and the basic start up.... going all the way with a project is becoming increasingly more of a challenge for me, as I seem to loose interest and then start another that end's up the same. for myself, I know what the answer may be....open a kit, and make the entire build a one week project, like many of us did a zillion year's ago, when perfection and ultra detail along with foil and every other resin part and all didn't even exist....problem is, we have a tendency as model people to fix, correct, repair,,,etc, etc..everything involved in our build's to the best of our ability, making each build more and more involved, until lack of interest rear's it's ugly head. I wish I had an answer to it all, because I have 5 started kit's all at about the same level of completed work, and just don't really care at this point to continue on any of them. I spend more time on this forum looking and commenting than actually sanding styrene....maybe that's part of the problem, as well as 30 more year's and 30 more pound's thrown in the mix too......the Ace.... -
boy, that's a little sweetheart, to say the least, and of a kit you rarely if ever actually see built.......nice and quite a different approach......the Ace........

......couldn't have said all better myself.....as for the guy's back in the day making a 'statement',,,,,,most found with 3.08 and 3.23 gear's or other mediocre ratio's, and engine's making stock horsepower number's, the cheater's worsened their e/t's 3 or 4 tenth's at the track, until gear ratio was changed along with some typical engine upgrade's... just as bad on the street, when a guy with stock tire's hole shot's you because your car bogged so badly from the bite, then broke something because the bite overpowered the engine output.....saw it a million time's......good thing our plastic wonder's don't do the same...lol.........lot's cheaper too...lol.........the Ace...

....very, very nice, Terry.....can hear it rumble thru a local burger joint around '68 or so, to hang out with all the muscle car's in town.....just like we really did back then......great work, the Ace..........

........very different, very well executed, and very nice certainly.......great build, and refreshing to see one built in such an interesting and rarely seen version.........the Ace.........

boy, when my 2 '32 Ford truck kit's get around to being built, I may drop them on the floor too, if it get's them looking that good..lol.....I have a Lindberg issue and an original AMT HILLBILLY HAULER mib, and in seeing yours, one may be an upcoming winter build......as for setbacks, as you mention, that's part of building for most of us. my build's seem to be in a constant state of setback...lol........best, the Ace.......

$30+ kits - hows it affect you?
AC Norton replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know some other Canadian member's here have answered or commented on your question, so I will throw in mine....yes, almost everything here is more than in the state's, and with many item's much more generally. however there are 2 factor's to mention here.....there are over 330 million American's, and in comparison about 33 million Canadian's. I think you can see where I am going with this. your country has 10 time's the buying power, selling power, and worldwide financial clout that we have only a fraction of.... secondly, our social program's here are very good, from our medical care, that for the most part is covered, and many social and pension program's that are government funded. I myself had, and still have 2 pension's , one from 2005 and the other came in from May 2015,,,and as of last March another substantial one on top of those 2 mentioned simply because of my income and 60 year's old and single status, that I applied for and received only 3 month's later. my point.... all that money and special funding to make sure people here can live well has to come from tax's ........our banking regulation's are different than those in the U.S. as well....hope this long winded answer helps..........regards, the Ace.... -
$30+ kits - hows it affect you?
AC Norton replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ray, you hit the nail on the head and I totally relate. thru the working years, model's were a hobby, and for me I was constantly involved in one car model project after the other....now retired, I have a pile that I look thru, fiddle around with, etc,,,but the fun has faded away and really cranking one out is a challenge, and as you state, no longer fun.....as for your comment, Stephen regarding abstaining from drinking, smoking and such,,,just remember the old guy at his retirement party having a ball with his work friends, and when they yelled for,,,SPEACH, SPEACH from their old buddy, he replied by saying..' I've made lot's of cash at this job thru the year's, and you know, I spent most it on booze, gambling, and fast women.....and the rest of it I totally wasted............lol..lol..........the Ace......... -
'69 Blazer
AC Norton replied to dieseldawg142's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
your truck is very sharp, I like the total look.....one other note, though...in reading your opening line's about so many issue's with your kit, you realize that contacting Round 2 about these problem's that they are only too happy to send you replacement part's when defective or missing. at price's of model's today, the customer is entitled to that, you paid, you should have a kit free of defect's like those you mentioned........the Ace..... -
$30+ kits - hows it affect you?
AC Norton replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
........if you are a bit patient , all the new issue's are usually much cheaper say, 6 month's later, at show's and with online seller's that are looking to blow out stock. but, if you MUST have that new release now, and I many time's do as well, then pull out that wallet and cash out. actually, I envy you guy's from the U.S. because our price's here with money exchange and all else push basic release's to well over the 40.00 mark, and some closer to 50 bucks......the Ace........ -
looks great, Curt....I love Vette gasser's and early Vette drag cars.....nice work, the Ace...

beautiful piece, Tony,,,as we always see from your builds......best, the Ace....

......all I can throw into this thread is that I have the Model King 70 1/2 Z28 issue, and of course it's identical to the newer AMT issue's, however it's molded in white plastic, and contains a killer decal sheet with LOT'S of stripe's, race goodie's, and some other nice bit's and piece's on the sheet. if somebody is looking to get a 70 1/2 Z28 kit, it is really a great version to consider........just my 2 cent's....the Ace....
-
I too have done that....many, many times over 30 years. it's a lot harder now building everything you want and replacing them.....the Ace....
-
10 bucks....how's about I send ya' up 15 for the work you did, and I'll take it off your hands...lol.........looks great and a nice save for sure.....the Ace......

Chris, the woman driver figure came in the Lincoln roadster kit along with a gangster as well. you have an array of fig's and goodie's from the various kit's from the 67-68 era. however, they really are not that hard to find, and keep in mind that the 28 Lincoln was reissued around the 97-98 mark, and that kit has 2 very nice male gangster's with optional arm's, as well as a ton of great equipment like weapon's, booze bottle's and crate's, alky can's, and lot's more. that kit is online frequently, and cheap too, I got a sealed one last summer for 13 bucks.....various other's were reissued thru the year's without the GANGBUSTER box art as well, many still containing the figure's and equipment.....hope this help's you a bit, if you sell them online surely they will get snapped up simply because they are finished and have an array of goodie's as well............the Ace......

Doug, I think back in the day a lot of fella's that bought that Slammer kit got a shock, because the decals indicated that a Ford power plant was under the hood. to keep that series generic, and the fact that most mod's at the time ran rat power, it was a disappointment to the Ford fan. anyhow, I'm sure that James appreciate's your input ....regards, the Ace...
-
actually, Doug, those headers fit a big block Chevy engine, as all 4 of the mods from that series had the identical headers and rat motor in each kit.....the Ace....
-
Jim, what type of car are they going to be installed on,,,,and, the small block Ford you refer to is which engine exactly....I ask because other headers for various cars/engines could be similar and possibly used....I have a few sets of headers,,, so more info please.....the Ace...
