  1. thanks, Gene,,,always appreciate your comments....keep in touch, best....the Ace....
  2. .........just called Round2 to thank them once again for quick and exact part replacement of issues with one of the car kits. I have contacted them a few times over the past couple of years, and they have never once let me down. thought I would share this with the forum, because I have found that their company truly is customer oriented.......best, the Ace.......
  3. nice color used here, Jim....and that interior is very sharp....best, the Ace....
  4. no problem, Nikko, hope you try it at some point, but that Tbolt interior above looks fine. my 68 Roadrunner I posted recently in the drag forum section has the semi gloss interior sprayed, but the photos don't show much unfortunately.....anyhow, your builds are super nice.....best, the Ace....
  5. you know, Carl, I have seen that darn thing, but can't recall what kit or kits it came in...betcha that if you place a wanted ad in the forum, you would get all you wanted.......also, I'm certain once more members see this thread, you will have answers shortly. for some reason I think its in an early 60s GM car, but not sure..........the Ace....hey, Carl, have you heard from Gene, because I have not lately.....
  6. that's a good question, Carl....I will check some kits this aft. and get back on this....I think my 61 Galaxie and 62 Buick have them.......but not sure....the Ace.......UPDATE....the only kit I have is the 62 Buick Electra and it has a small baby elephant.....I checked my 64 Impala, 65 Gran Prix, 53 Ford p/u, 61 Ford, and reissues of similar vintage and have nothing else....sorry, that's not much help......the Ace....
  7. relax, Scott....I see no crows flying by. its always a mixed bag of what was and what was not in car options for a new model as RR was in 68. I only go by the car I had and what my friends had also, and the info I got from the original owner. I know my 69 340 Swinger had the same type of mixed bag option and equipment combos too, but lets stick to this topic...lol.... best, the Ace
  8. yup, my carpet was black, even though the interior was tu tone brown/ tan.......I think the décor group option was added later in the year, but I could be wrong. my pillars were body color, and the wheel the taxi cab all plastic basic job. regardless of all spoken about above, it was one of my all time favorites of the many muscle cars I have owned thru well over 40 years. I miss it even to this day......the Ace....
  9. well, you can have my share of Javelins if I can have all the rest....lol....the Ace.....
  10. just my 2 cents.....Johan was my favorite of all of Detroit's big 3 being of course AMT, MPC, and JOHAN. they were basic and usually easy to build, yet the bodies and general look of most were just so darn nice. if I told you what I paid for a sealed 69 GTX Johan original last spring, you'd have me committed. but, to me, all the best of their kits is worth every cent if they hold a special place in your heart for one reason or another. the 69 and 70 Roadrunners, GTX, 68-72 442s, Comet and Mavericks, SC/Rambler and AMXs, and a handful of others are some of the greatest IMO, but I doubt we will see them again reissued if the molds are history......the Ace....
  11. no, I don't, but its strange Martini always stressed that fact to me about having to be a 4 sp. ordered to get carpet. makes sense though, that basic stick cars would have rubber flooring.....wonder now after all these years back if mine , because of other options had carpet. it had p/s, p/b, trim mouldings, radio, but not sure if that mattered. I never got the build sheet, so who knows. as for you and your car, I recall most runners and all that hung around at the AW with our group, but draw a blank about your car.....the Ace.........actually, the only 2 dark green runners that were part of our group were Bill Halls 69 and Neil McCarthys 69 as well. Bills was basic but had carpet, and Neils was fancy with buckets, console and more and also was all carpet. both were stick cars, and were dark green similar in color to the 69 340 Swinger I had prior to the beige 68 runner. Bernie Jordans was black, Steve Wignalls was bronze, little Steves was medium blue, and Sandy Polskis was gunmetal gray after he had it painted. Bernies was an auto as was Sandys.............
  12. ..........I use the tape and pull method, but, that does not always yield the result wanted. keep in mind that even when this method works, if the removed decal was of quality and had plenty of adhesive under it, that too may leave a gray area that now needs to be polished or somehow removed as well. another way that I have found will work is to use Solvaset decal solution, but thinned down 50/50 with warm water. it takes patience and a watchful eye as not to apply too much until the decal starts to soften. it can affect some paints, so be careful here. best I can offer, but over the many years I have removed tons of decals and usually had a 75/25 average of good results.....good luck, hope some of this helps you.......best, the Ace....
  13. thanks,Bill, for your nice comments here. this kit has many problems and pitfalls, as you know, but still can build into a decent car for the end result. I have a soft spot for these 68 runners, as I owned a really nice 383 car for years back in the day. as for the stance, or sitting correctly, out of box they all seem too low to me, but a bit of plastic and time fixes that quickly. anyhow, appreciate the comments from a renown builder such as yourself....best, the Ace....
  14. thanks Alan, for your feedback. the Chevelle wagon stocker is a fall/winter project, along with a couple of other started stock/ super stock cars that will get attention in the upcoming months. i'll keep you posted.....best, the Ace...
  15. well, hopefully they will match the parts up as shown, but stranger things have happened. I assumed, for example, that the 69 Cuda released back in the winter would have hemi heads, or better yet, the hemi block as well to accompany the wedge, but as you know Mark, no dice. model companies sometimes surprise us with all the goodies, yet sometimes with none at all...lol......the Ace...
  16. .....gee, hope the white plastic parts you mention get chromed this time around..........I wasn't aware of that, never owning any issue of this car prior......that's interesting info, Gary, and thanks for jumping in here on that.......best, the Ace....
  17. ........just got home from a local meet.....scored a perfect mib original AMT Y910 69 CHEVELLE SS, great box, decal sheet, and most parts still on the trees.....not a bad Saturday morning.....the Ace....
  18. ........just returned home from a local swap meet today, and, even though old, rare kits were few and far between,,,,I scored a mint in box original Y910 AMT CHEVELLE SS396 kit. nice box and all.....the only issue that actually had clear red tail light lenses and the original red lines.... the American Torque Thrusts in the original are quite nice as well.....I guess not a bad Saturday morning......the Ace....
  19. ....rat powered,,,black, Chevelle, Yenko equipped, American mags.......what's not to like.....great piece, Michelle....best, the Ace..
  20. .....well, lets just hope this issue has something for all tastes and building requirements, as I'm sure it will... just to get one with that box art, perfect chrome, quality decals, and any bonus they throw our way is going to extract the cash from my wallet. I know this kit has been issued many, many times, however some just put the bite into you, and Round2 has chosen this one to do just that. betcha in the end, we're all happy.......now, I have to have another donut and rest before supper......the Ace....
  21. .......love it, Joe.....looks great....owned a new 78, 80, and 81 Z28 all back in the day when I sold cars.....lots of fun times for sure....nice to see a model of one...best, the Ace...
  22. .....love it, and I mean love it.....great to see this build posted. I have been playing around with the 76 on and off for a year now, inspires me to get going on it. my first car was a brand new 73 Gremlin x 304 v8 stick that I spent every cent doing up with wheels, tires, headers, ignition parts, tach, shifter, on and on.....dragged it thru the 73 74 seasons at my local track in STOCK FOR TROPHY class, and had more fun with it and had more special times revolving around that car than all the killer muscle I owned thru the years.....thanks for sharing,,,,the Ace....
