  1. ....all I will toss in here is that Revell treated me poorly over the phone, and in providing the wrong part when needed to replace damaged parts in a new, sealed store bought kit back in 2008... that's the end of one cent of mine ever going to them....as for Moebius, I have heard nothing but this type of problem and complaint long before this thread. they figure because they make some long awaited subject matter now, they rule the roost,,,,well, guess what....they don't. its over priced, overrated , and with the attitude regarding service they have, they won't last....just wait awhile and see. it will end up that to make ends meet and keep their bean counters happy, the kits will end up getting dumped at discount joints like many other products. I read what some members above mentioned about telling the customer to run his kit body under hot water, or another saying to send parts out he had to pay the shipping...its insulting to say the least.....I personally watched a customer open 3 of the 65 Plymouths at a local shop a month ago, and all 3 were bent...nice, drop over a hundred bucks for junk like that....Round 2 may produce reissues, however when it comes to service, tradition, and all else, they will always be number one.........the Ace...........yeah, yeah, I know, the flak will start flying my way anytime now.....go ahead....make my day....
  2. Danny, if spray cans are for you, as they are me....there is nothing better than their sprays. best on the market I would say. lots of variety, outstanding clears in gloss, semi gloss, flat...and a great pearl gloss for that hot rod, street machine, drag car builder. yes, they hurt the wallet some, but once you use them, I'm sure you will be pleased. as far as getting 2-3 cars from one can, that's a stretch for sure. 2 if you just have to paint 2 basic bodies. but, if you need to paint extra body parts, for example an engine bay like in many Mopars,,,etc...one can will leave you some over to start a new build, but usually not enough for a second build. I've been using them since about 1992, and even though the Testors new lacquers are nice as well, they are not the overall quality of the Tamiya product. hope this helps...the Ace...
  3. ......Scott, go to ebay, type in this item no./////// 111995970278 /////// that will show you the 78 Monza mouse decal sheet, or google MPC 1978 Monza model, and the box art will come up with pics of the decals on the built box art car.....hope this helps,,,the Ace....
  4. great point, John.....decals of that era usually were junk in the case of MPC kits. I do intend to use mine on the kit I have coming, and hope that the Micro set decal restore liquid may solve that , but an annual reissued by RC2 would be a terrific sales item for them, and a great addition for many of us.....the Ace,,,,
  5. yes, the other issues seem to either have a minilite style rim, or Keystones in others as far as what I've seen. the 78 annual I've got coming has Keystones according to the box art......the Ace...
  6. thanks for that, Mark....I asked as I just bought the 78 annual yesterday online, and I'm unable to see if the parts bag contain the hood scoop . regardless, I am glad to get the kit .......best,,, the Ace...
  7. Don, glad you jumped in on this too. I just bought the 78 Monza annual and frankly, was darn happy to snag it. I only threw the questions out there about the MPC Monza kits to get opinions, but, like you just mentioned, the 78, Street Spyder, and the Prostreet always seemed to be harder to grab even when they were fairly current, as I recall. do you happen to know if the 1978 kit also has the long hood scoop included in it......thanks,,,,the Ace....
  8. .......I thought that may get a response from you, Richard....and remember the famous words,,,,,STAY BUILDING, MY FRIENDS.....lol...
  9. .......this thread is kinda like a DOS EQUIS beer commercial, where Snake is the most interesting man in the world.....well, sorta,,,,so, instead of everyone wasting more and more time on this particular thread, lets make it easy....use Tamiya white, or their pink primer, making sure the car is prepped properly in the first place....regardless of color of plastic,,,,,then, blow a couple of light coats of your color over the car, let that tack for 10 to 20 minutes, then apply the final number of coats you prefer. all this bleed thru stuff will become a myth, and Snake can go back to measuring dune buggy steering wheel- to- crotch interior sizes, and other stuff the most interesting man in the world may endeavor to do .........maybe.....the Ace.....
  10. Mark, thanks for jumping in here...I asked only because I see the 78 MOUSE less available in most cases. anyhow, do you know if this 1978 version has the long hood scoop like some issues have.....thanks...the Ace...
  11. Brandon, your GTX build is very exciting for all to see, and thanks for posting all. .....one thing I would like to point out, if you don't mind,,,you may find it a little tricky to install your exhaust manifolds now, as your ignition wiring blocks the way to mate with the ports. big inch wedge Mopar engines have the plug wires routed under the manifolds and then up to the cap......not being a critic here, just thought that may help......the Ace....
  12. .....just noticed this older but interesting thread on Monza kits....sooooo, 2 questions here....is the above pictured 78 MPC Monza Mouse version one that seems to be harder to find out there compared to many other MPC Monza issues, as from what I see around , and if my memory serves me, I seem to recall less of those around even in the 80s at the kit and toy show events,,,,and lastly, does this Mouse version include the long drag hood scoop some of the other issues have.....thanks in advance here, boys.....the Ace....
  13. lovely, Dennis....both cars..... like everything you post for us,,,,outstanding work....the Ace....
  14. I'm with you on your statement.....I never really liked the actual cars regardless, but I looked thru a friends Lindberg 61 Chev last weekend, and frankly, I think the kit stinks all way round. I know saying this will irk many here , however I'll never have one in my stack of Chevs.....the Ace.....
  15. .......Richard, the guy wanted an opinion on 3 build choices, because he may be a little less schooled regarding kits than some more seasoned members. just throw him a bone, not a bark,,,, I mean, you own, collect, and have built every model car and every other plastic kit in the world,,,,right ......the Ace....
  16. well, Joe, you just saved me 30 bucks...lol............had a feeling this would be the verdict.....thanks for the bad news on BAD NOOZE.....the Ace......
  17. ....just wondered if the Revel Model King BAD NOOZE 53/54 Chevy gasser issued in 2006,,,,,then reissued again in 2013 have any differences in kit mold quality, chrome, basically anything........I ask because I may buy the lastest one, but seem to recall checking out a 2006 issue a few years ago and not thinking the overall quality of the kit was very nice, being quite rough generally...... any thoughts here from our members would be welcomed....thanks, the Ace...
  18. Jerry, I don't build modern muscle, but would choose the Mustang merely because I like those cars........oh, and Richard.....the guy simply asked an opinion based question, as he seems enthused and very interested in modeling something.....lighten up, he probably hasn't been exposed to near as much melted styrene or glue fumes as you have.....the Ace.......
  19. would one of our members be able to display photos of the 39 tudor that Stevens issued a ways back .....I sure would like to see if one is worth getting,,,,,thanks in advance....the Ace...
  20. thru the 70s and 80s I built a lot of Japanese sports cars kits.....the plastic was hard, crisp, and of high quality. in the last few years, there quality in some cases have toned down just like the rest. best I can offer here, the Ace....
  21. I second that, Dennis...for box art its killer, but so is the 67-68 era box with the Joker gasser art. same kit, great box art too...the Ace...
  22. even the newest issue with the nostalgia box art is a nice kit.....great chrome, Keystones, all the Buick engine goodies, blue streaks, and a killer decal sheet. it probably isn't correct in some ways, but built nicely it still looks pretty neat....just my 2 cents....the Ace....
  23. .......you do have the skills, Colby....just do one the best you can, and enjoy the trip.....that's what our forum is here for, to help, encourage, and share info and skills to build a project.....get your tools and paint ready......the Ace,,,,
  24. .....you say, thanks for looking,,,,however Roger, thanks for sharing. love 73-4 Duster super stockers from the era, this car, all the Hamburger cars, Mancini Racing, and all the rest. terrific work here, and a killer project idea that I myself have pondered a dozen times. great to see one of these so nicely executed...........the Ace....
  25. boy, that's a sweet set up....air cleaner upgrades look terrific, but the entire car looks outstanding.....neat engine swap idea, and so early 60s era typical......thanks for jumping in on this one, Pete......the Ace...
