  1. .......dynamite,,,just plain dynamite, Dennis, as all yours always are.............the Ace............
  2. well, Brad,,,if the driver had a bad attitude and just didn't fit in, guess he'd just have to become a spectator...lol.........the Ace....
  3. wow, Brad...that's very nice as a stock box build....intend to do mine box stock too.....hey, Brad, 2 questions....what yellow spray is on your piece,,,and, does the driver not fit in ANY version if you use the steering wheel, I ask because I did intend to use my driver....any thoughts appreciated......great work, the Ace....
  4. hi Jeremy, I have the older yellow issue but haven't jumped in to build it yet,,,,however, I laughed at your statement about how terrible the blue kit is, but you love it.....you are not alone , as many of us have cars that, frankly, stink in just about every way,,,,,but you can't get enough of them. I've been fiddling around with an MPC Twister Vega the last couple of theses hot, lazy days....and we all know what a junk heap that kit is, but with a bit of work, you sometimes figure something pleasing and terrific will develop.....lol....even though that's usually a fantasy...lol.......the Ace...
  5. very, very nice piece, Tom. looks tough as nails, your color choice and everything is terrific. I have this kit in the pile, and seeing one build in a very similar way that I would approach is inspiring.............great work,,,,,best, the Ace...........
  6. well, you are certainly correct on that note, Richard. all of us use methods, products, ways of building, etc.,,,that are usually uniquely our own. whatever works for you is my theory on all of it concerning model building. I think that guys like yourself, and, well, me as well, have a way of doing things engrained in our building style that was present back in the teen years, and even though our builds have hopefully improved a zillion per cent, some of those old habits and methods die hard, if they ever do.......the Ace....
  7. ah, c'mon Richard, jump in on another topic....you're the most interesting man in the world, remember.....the Ace..........
  8. .....gee, I guess jumping into this conversation is a moot point, as we have no Hobby Lobby stores in Canada, at least that I know of.....but, I know at all my local shops they have no religious overtones, don't play music unless its the odd oldies track here and there, and the only praise they want is your bread.....lol,,,,,,,,,,can I get a hallelujah in this house of plastic.............the Ace...........
  9. Mike, I just got this kit in the mail today from an ebayer, and mine has those very nice M/T grooved slicks as well.....my Round2 reissue 75 Dart Sport has those slicks, and back in 1975 I had both the 75 dart and 75 Ventura MPC cars, and both had those too. they were included in just some of the annuals from around 75 to around 78 or 79 as I recall..............the Ace............
  10. .......boy, Mark, you were soooo right on the small block in these MPC Monza kits....I just got mine in the mail, and that engine is very nicely detailed and engraved quite well as I can see....nice auto trans, heads, all are impressive parts for certain. would stand up today in most cases for comparison.....the Ace.......
  11. ....this photo was taken at the 69 Winternationals at Pomona......it was actually their 68 RR then retro fitted with new 69 body trim, painted and re lettered. It ran in B/MP class as did Landys 69 Charger, and Landy won the event with Herb McCandless at the wheel, until Landy won in the final pass against Riffles Anglia gasser if I recall. the Sox and Martin RR here apparently rolled off the trailer soon after and was wrecked so I have been told. In the 69 season, though, they also did have a SS/E class hemi car similar but in legal S/S trim, and later a 440 six pack RR too. this timeless photo is one of my all time favorites of any SM car, and its hard to tell in the pic, but I think that's Don Carlton at the wheel.....love your project here, I'm slowly but surely working presently of a 68 RR B/MP car myself.....regards, the Ace.....
  12. ....ditto, as I posted above a few hours back.......around my neck of the woods they don't appear to have been a hot seller either......the Ace....
  13. .......I was in a shop near Toronto, Ontario just this afternoon buying more kits I don't really need...lol.........and they had 4 on the shelf, all at clearance price.....if someone out there just has to get one and can't find one, I go that shop to look around every week, so let me know, i'll pick one up for you and send it out to you. actually, the had 4 or 5 Black Widows as well.........the Ace............
  14. ......it's not the type of car or kit I would ever buy, but I must admit it is a very cool, exciting reissue of a much loved kit..... got to love RC2 for making so many of us quite happy with bringing back so many terrific kits.......the Ace........
  15. .....I'd keep all receipts if you buy one.....it may not go together just as the instructions say.................the Ace......
  16. .....you know, Alan, I realize its backward thinking....but at times I truly think all of it was far more fun at that stage of our lives. I know the reason I build less and less these days is because when you have set a much higher standard over the years, its hard to go back to quick, basic fun building. we have become much better modelers in most cases, but that same hit, or blast or whatever the word is, now for me at least, has become a difficult task most of the time. I actually may try building some quick, low detail, fast drying cars that can be banged out in a 3 or 4 day stretch just to see what happens.....after all,,,its just plastic, and God knows we all have plenty of that...lol....the Ace......
  17. I'm glad you found something new and exciting to get you pumped and building....they sure look like beautiful kits for sure...wish I could get that mojo back like you have, Harry,,,,I have 4 kits half built and am happy with them, but can't seem to just sit down and actually do the real work....I'm buying more and more, yet building less and less...lol....the Ace.....
  18. Jesse, is that your mib kit, or just a box photo you dug up.....reason I ask is if its a complete example of the kit it would be quite nice to see the contents of this little mouse.....thanks,,,,,the Ace....
  19. thank you, Steve, for your compliment. its easy to get a decent rattle can paint job when Tamiya lacquers are being used, I usually find....the Ace....
  20. .....like Smokey sings...I second that emotion.......each time I use Tamiya gloss black, I enjoy the result every time......the Ace...
  21. ...........after reading all of your apology, it truly amazes me that anyone thinks you could owe them one.......build your kits, photo them the way you please, and consider where these type of comments are coming from.....I think you catch my drift........best,,,the Ace....
  22. yeah, Alan, those times in our modeling are the best of times....building on the porch, and spraying just about anywhere,,, grabbing a new kit on a venture out on a Saturday with your favorite girl to come back and build a car in a few hours, and probably enjoy the whole thing more than the long effort we sometimes put into a build now.........lots of older, not so great kits have fond memories for many of us.........the Ace...
  23. good point, Bob,,,but I can tell you with certainty that Tamiya sprays are identical in color years apart, as I have used it from the early 90s, and even have sprayed whats left in a can years later, matching it up to a fresh can, and they are perfectly identical.............the Ace.....
  24. .......that's a little sweetheart....makes me want to jump into mine to build.....nice work,,,,the Ace...
