  1. funny you say that,,,I got this new issue last month, but never really cared for 49 Fords.....this one just posted look's great, and I probably will build mine similar,,,, if that ever actually happens...lol...lol.....the Ace....
  2. yes,... it is the part's layout on the box bottom for the upcoming AMT 57 Ford release coming later this month.....the Ace...
  3. well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion regarding this, and better yet, you can have, and buy up all the newly tooled kit's you like, as that leave's more old reissue's for the rest of us who apparently live in the past to buy what you don't want.....have to run now, back to my narrow scope of model car interest's.............the Ace....
  4. .......beautiful piece, Ron, as yours always are........the Ace...
  5. these look great, and are going to be very nice addition's to your collection. terrific work there. Bill.....the Ace....
  6. outstanding.....oh, yeah....the Ace...
  7. ........very small part's getting lost at time's is a problem that most builder's deal with at one time or another. the key is to organize your work area, and when I either custom make, or remove a tiny part from the tree, I put it in a small tube container, like the one's number 11 blade's come in. I also sometime's take a strip of masking tape, sticky side up, and place part's on it until they are used. As for glue mark's, glass can be tricky to install in some car's, and I usually do that using 5 minute epoxy, because if a peck get's on the glass, it generally wipe's off with a bit of warm water before it dries. I also use clear Scotch tape, cut to the specific need's of that particular glass piece, and also when I cut side window's from clear sheet for installing in certain car's. that way you can remove it if your piece isn't positioned the way you like, and then simply start again.... save's damage of any glue stain's.....hope this help's...the Ace...
  8. ....you know, Chris, now my memory has been jogged, it does fit the 59 better....my friend built the 59 a zillion years ago, and I recall thinking when I built my 65 that his did seem better on that aspect ....good point......the Ace....
  9. .....two very nice, clean build's of period digger's.......great work on both....the Ace...
  10. ....Robert, how are you making out with this build.....I've been eye balling one of my 56/57 MPC kit's in the last week or so, almost ready to jump in....interested in hearing and seeing a current report if you have one....best,,,the Ace...
  11. .......correct me if wrong here, but I think the camper in that 69 box issue is exactly the same as the one offered in the various 65 El Camino kit's that had one included....my Buyers Choice 65 issue from around 1998 or so has the camper......my point....even if this 59 we are awaiting does not include one, they seem pretty common to grab one way or the other, if they fit the pickup box the same...just a thought....the Ace...
  12. .........exactly, Casey.....it has always baffled me how topic's and conversation run's amuck on this forum..... frustrating and boring, to say the least.........the Ace...
  13. .....working on the same kit presently building a vintage FX drag piece. nice in red, your build is clean and sharp......the Ace....
  14. .........just thought I'd mention, that is a 71 GTX, and not a 73......best, the Ace...
  15. let me check mine, Gary.....back at ya' in the quick.......the Ace.........ok, the kit has 2 belt's for the Caddy engine, 1 regular style for the street setup,,,, the other a 3 pulley blower belt, that to me looks typical of what most blower belts look like. these are white parts, Gary, and there is nothing resembling what you mention on the chrome tree......I'm not too familiar with the many version's of this kit, this new one being my first ever, but I hope this helps....best, the Ace...
  16. very, very nice gasser group, I really like the 36 Ford....looks great....the Ace....
  17. ...it's hard to imagine that's the MONOGRAM interior ......look's just outstanding, Joe....terrific effort to bring it out so nicely,,, great work and very interested in the finished build....best, the Ace....
  18. well, I have never owned any other 49 Ford kit's, but other than the new slick's I think it contains the same part's as prior. the photo's in this thread show what you get, and my kit is in front of me at present, and I will say that it is a very nice item. the chrome is perfect, the kit is a nice white plastic, not that clear almost see thru junk, and the decal sheet, as this thread shows, is just outstanding. frankly, I don't usually buy kit's in the late 40s- early 50s type, but this will build into a nice little gasser with little effort or having to buy another kit or two to pilfer part's for this. the Caddy engine look's nice, the open wheel's are useful on this, or many other car's if you choose to use the American wheel's ....they also are very nice, a little flash and two have a bit of flash on the dust caps, but a couple minute's work and a dash of BMF will remedy that. hope all this helps, I would rate this an 8 out of 10 from a reissue point of view............the Ace....
  19. .....mine seems good, a bit of flash but in general pretty clean I'd say..........the Ace..........update,,, I just checked the body with a fine tooth comb...lol...and the driver's door of mine is perfect. keep in mind, John, you SRS kit is from the mid to late 70s when kit quality wasn't always the order of the day and many company's just were looking to sell volume to any retailer they could......the Ace...
  20. no doubt, Bill, that would be a gift to all for sure, not to mention how the earlier body style open's the door for dozen's more pro stocker's from back then....the possible decal sheet's for them could be endless.......the Ace...
  21. ....one thing, Casey....the original 74-75 Vega bodies have a different surround and lights than the later type you mention. my point...they will have to correct that rear panel as to be like it was in the mid 70s for the annuals and pro stock bodies. your nice photo of the USA 1 Vega in the burnout box shows you what we had, and now will require. as for the chassis and other parts....we can only hope for upgrades, but where tooling costs are involved,,, I doubt it. still dying to get a couple once they drop, and on that note any news on when they are saying to pull our wallets out again.....the Ace...
  22. .....over the years I have had all the pro stock Vegas by MPC, and do have the Twister Vega Stevens reissued 10 years ago or so.....I would think that Round2 intends to basically change the front clip and rear panel back to 74-75 appearance , and that the chassis, interior, and most of the rest will be Twister with the exception of the tunnel ram and Holley carbs replacing the Twisters blower setup. it's wishful thinking that they would go the distance and issue the kit reworked properly, but it would be great if they tune it up even somewhat better than before. regardless, its an old favorite of many of us, and it will see like crazy I would guess. I liked the other issue from 1975 called AMERICAN SPIRIT pro stock Vega too, as it was a stolen idea by MPC of the OLD RELIABLE pro Vega of the late great Dave Strickler.....hope they repop that one too...lol........the Ace.......
  23. ........if I recall correctly, you need the same MPC sheet you used on your 'bird....Gooche ran those sheets but you will have to source one out as that ship has sailed. the other sheets made by Cady, and others, I think were for earlier Tin Indian cars......best I can remember, the Ace.....oh, I'll look thru my decals, I may have a partial sheet.....
  24. very , very nice work all a round.....look's just great and I tip my hat to you on the work and effort to achieve that........regards, the Ace....
  25. not sure over the years if I have seen a totally scratch built one, but I have seen tops of various types customized and altered to fit a particular project,,,,,maybe you should throw us a bit more info here, Joe, to see if an answer can be tailored to your building needs here....the Ace....
