As of late you boys using silver Sharpies to trim out your cars have got me intrigued....I have been addicted to BMF for decades, but for building quick, fun shelf models your method seems to be the way to go....but where in Canada can I get just the met. silver ones, and what particular tip, style, whatever, do you guys suggest....before driving all over town wasting gas and time, fill me in if you would....thanks in advance.....the Ace....

.....I had the annual new in 74, and apart from the decal sheet, I would imagine this will be identical to the 75 kit....no doubt though, the tinted glass will be recolored, the decal sheet tuned up to the max of excitement, and God knows any way Round2 can spin it to yet again to keep the interest and get us to pull out our wallets once again...lol....Hey, I'm in regardless, owning a new 73 Gremlin X 304 v8 car that I still pine for to this day, even owning many more exciting and much faster rides thru the years,,,I still love that little Gremmie as it was the car that started it all for me....so any reissued Gremlin kit similar has shelf space reserved here already....the Ace...

AC Norton replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....You know, I don't want to jinx either of us here, but so far so good.....but depending on parcels landing in Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal it seems to vary on weather ya' get clipped or not. I have bought some hefty loads from Tokyo and am presently waiting on another that should be here next week, with a bunch of other single cars from Japan as well,,,so I'll keep ya' posted...........'the waiting for yet more plastic than ever needed' Ace...lol.... -
Need a Fujimi 1/24 Chevy Astro Van?
AC Norton replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
.....I haven't bought the Astro, but have got several other car kits from them in at least 6 or 7 orders, of usually 5-10 cars per order, and have found them top notch all round. Some of the Aoshima and Fujimi tuners and sports cars are usually quite cheap, and always fun for quick easy builds......the Ace... -

..........I will figure out something....it just really annoys me because in all the years of buying and building this stuff, I can say I have never had a problem with any Japanese kit bought new, American kits,,,, yes, lots of times...hope maybe they will actually read my letter and play....but after reading the comments here, I'm skeptical now....the Ace...
-
........Well, after reading all the input, I am less hopeful at this point, but lets see if both my email and detailed letter to them gets me a win. I was totally refunded by the ebay seller for the kit,,,,and bought a replacement with a bunch of other Fujimi kits as well just a few days ago. The part that bothers me is now I have, and granted its a freebee, a complete new kit without BBS wheels, slicks, metal axels, and hood pins and extinguisher that are all packed in a cello bag under the body.....its a waste to not be able to complete a new and useable kit..........the Ace......

...That's was my first step,,,they just refunded my money completely for the kit and postage, so I'm on my own now to see if this all goes as planned with Fujimi and if so, I will end up with 2 BMW E30 kits as I just bought a replacement today too. thanks for your comment....the Ace...

Gentlemen, wondered if any of you have ever needed to request missing parts for a Fujimi kit, and how that went for you....I recently bought a stack of Fujimis off an ebay Japanese seller, and one was missing the bag for wheels, tires, axles, and a couple of small white parts. I ask because my emails to them off their site don't seem to send without kicking them back to me, so I wrote them and sent a copy of the instructions indicating the parts in question.....any opinions or war stories will better prepare me...lol.....thanks boys, the Ace...

68 roadrunner LETS GO BIRDWATCHING...FOR JUST 10.5 SECONDS...
AC Norton replied to AC Norton's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hi Gene, ....sure, I intend to build a couple of them in a fairly basic manner at some point, with sharp two tone paint, and just plug wires and basic details. However over the years, I have built several MPC 68-69 Cudas that have come and gone, so it's not something planned soon. Keep in mind, though, that the actual S/S light weight Hemi cars were 1968 Barracudas. To be totally accurate you need a resin 68 body,,,and I don't bother at all with resin,,, or an original annual MPC 68 Cuda, that now commands big bucks, and even if you are lucky enough to have one, it is major work to convert one correctly. I have 4 MPC kits, 2 of the newest issue MPC 1969 car, and 2 of the Killer Cuda versions from the late 70s. Even though the Killer Cuda has some 68 appointments, its still actually a 1969 car. So to sum it up, Gene, I will build a couple that will actually be 69s, but have fun regardless. I can tell you that built with a bit of skill and nice paint, they make a great looking S/S on your shelf in spite of the inaccuracies.....the current issue that I know you have has everything except cylinder heads for the Hemi, and I recall us having that discussion back months ago....maybe if you bang one out I'll get motivated to join in and build one myself...lol...as you know the decal sheet with that kit is just dying to be used to build a great S/S piece, and thanks for asking, hope you are doing well,,,the Ace....- 55 replies

Jerry, you need to check out all the 1/24 FUJIMI garages, tools, accessories, and figure kits available on ebay and at most hobby shops. You will find lots for sale online, and usually Japanese sellers have it all, and at rock bottom prices too......think these may do the job for you....the Ace...

No, not once thru many years of using this spray almost exclusively....the one and only time I had an issue was back in 1995 were I cleared a yellow plastic Fujimi Porsche in humidity higher than I should have, and when drying some areas went slightly ' sugary' or speckled a touch. Once dried out for several hours, I simply polished with some compound, followed by waxing and they were gone. Guess what I'm saying is that Tamiya sprays are loved by those of us that have learned the tricks about them, but many builders have commented they don't care for them because their result wasn't what they expected. Its all practice and the luck of the draw....I love their sprays....the Ace....

I've never tried it over enamel, so you will have to try it on something as a test run first. As for solid color coverage, the effect it has varies greatly depending on the solid color, so once again, a test run on something is essential. I personally like the results, especially on oranges and reds, and I find over some heavy metallic colors the look is quite nice, with a custom flare to it.....do the spoon test...get some cheap plastic picnic spoons and blow a variety of colors on them, then clear them to check the results. the Ace...

Everyone has a different method and approach, however I have used Tamiya spray now for 20 years plus on bodies and other areas, so here is what I do. Spray your color on until the desired effect is achieved,,,,, then, let the car dry for between 2 and 5 hours depending on humidity level. Hopefully low humidity will then allow you to spray your clear on at this point, spraying until you are pleased with the overall look. If it dries without any ripple or imperfections, then a light polish will be all that's required. If not, let the clear dry about 24 hours, then using your favorite polish/wax rub out until your happy. I have no camera to show you my results, but most times I can clear using Tamiya clear and not need to polish heavily later at all. I find that a couple of light coats sprayed on a couple of minutes apart, then drying up for 10-15 minutes, finished by a couple of heavy clear coats gives me the effect I like, but as stated earlier, everyone does things in their own way....hope this helps, and, oh, the Tamiya clear pearl coat is very nice too for the right project.......the Ace....
