Hello all, Hope all are well. Okay need some guidance in regard to paints and proper choices. Back 35-40 years ago when I was building car and truck models all I used was Testors (or Pactra) enamel paints. It's what I used because it was all I could get. Now I am back into the hobby and have been urged to use lacquers because Testors enamels have changed. So as I have been working on my projects I have chosen lacquers. I am going to be starting a KW W900 truck and have been told that you can't use lacquer over enamels. Is this accurate? My choice is Testors One Coat Inca Gold Lacquer (cab/hood) and Testors Dark Red enamel for the frame, drivetrain, fuel tanks. So not lacquer over enamel. However what kind of clear coat do I use? I have been using Valspar clear coat spray. Should I not use it on lacquer? Does it damage the lacquer? Could use any help thanks. Jerry

So if we wanted to weather an engine like above we spray the base coat. Apply Vaseline then spray the topcoat. Then wash of Vaseline and it would look similar to the above pic?

Very cool rig. Well done. -
I finished my 359 last night. Pretty happy with the results. I got a lot of suggestions which helped greatly in the construction of the truck Next up a Revell snap W900. I will paint the W900 Testors Inca Gold Lacquer with the tanks and frame Testors Gloss Dark Red. I will probably do Red/Black Movin On stripes. Thanks for looking. JerseeJerry55

Is the 4300 actually being reissued shortly or is this an old subject? Wish they would rerelease the 4200 with the original Transway Trucking decals. -
Any idea how to "tint" windows

Harry after you RIT the glass do you clear coat it to prevent scratches? Or is it self sustaining? -

Agreed. That truck holds a special place in my heart as it was the 1st truck model I bought with my OWN money. Shoveled a lot of sidewalks and driveways back then for my model truck kits. That and the Transtar 4200 were great kits. Wish I could find the decal sets for those two models. JerseeJerry55
